Chapter 7

ASHLEY'S POV 

Richard returned to the room after he went to get the door, his face looked pale as he paced back or forth searching for his car keys. He quickly grabbed his shirt and put it on, while he continued looking around for his car keys. I was confused trying to wrap my head around what was going on. “What's going on Richard? Where are you going?” I asked inquisitively. 

“It Max,” he said, panicking.

“What's with Max, isn't he the person you just spoke to right now,” 

“No, it's the maid,” 

“So what's the issue,” 

“Max had fainted,”

“What!,” I blurt out. “What's wrong with him?” I asked as I sprang up the bed.

“I would be lying if I tell you I know,” 

“So where is he right now?” I panicked, as the news completely weakened me. 

“The guard had rushed him to the hospital, and that's where am heading to right now,” 

“Alright I will come with you,” 

“No, you don't need to worry my love, I will go alone, and besides I don't want you to stress yourself out and the baby. I will be right back,” he kissed me goodbye and dashed out of the house before I could say anything. 

I watched his car leave the house through the window. I wasn't at rest as I waited for Richard's call, hoping he would call to update me on how Max is doing, but no calls from him, I texted but no reply. I became extremely worried.

I prayed deep down that nothing happens to Max. I was so restless that I couldn't do or eat anything. This was when I realized I was in love with Max. 

As much as I want him out of my way, I can't bear the thought of losing him. I was pacing around the house when Richard's car honked. 

I quickly stood up and hurried outside, hoping to see Max, but my countenance changed when I saw it was only Richard who had returned. 

“I have been texting and calling but you didn't return my calls or at least text back,” 

“Sorry my love, I left my phone in the car,”

“How about Max, and why isn't he back with you?” I questioned, my voice laced with much concern and curiosity.

“He will be fine,” 

Just like that, I wondered. That’s definitely not the answer I was expecting. I was curious to know how he is, not if he's going to be fine or not. “What do you mean by he will be fine?” 

“You don't have to worry Ashley. The doctor said it's a minor issue and that he will be fine. He will return back home tomorrow,” 

“Okay,” I pretended as though I was satisfied with his reply. I stopped questioning him in order for him not to suspect anything.

“Let's go inside,” I said. 

I woke up very early in the morning. It was Saturday and Richard wasn't going to work. He was fast asleep. I quietly got off the bed as I didn't want to wake or disturb him. I gently opened the door and went downstairs to get cold water from the dispenser in the kitchen when I bumped into Max. 

I screamed in fear but he used his right hand to cover my mouth. “Shhhhh, do you wanna wake everyone” he spoke softly. 

My intestine almost jumped out of my stomach the moment I saw him. I thought I had seen a ghost. I didn't expect to see Max, as I had thought he was in the hospital. 

Seeing I was calm already, he removed his hand from my mouth and smiled at me. I stared at him from head to toe, he looked fine to me. “I thought you were supposed to be in the hospital, how and when did you get back?” I asked, my voice laced with confusion.

“Aren't you happy am back?” He asked as he stepped closer to me. I moved backwards as he came closer. I could no longer move as I was already close to the wall. 

I leaned my back at the wall, while he placed his hand on the wall above my head and leaned in closer to me as he whispered to my ears, “What do you think, sexy? Oh! you believe that. Hahaha, never knew you will fall for it,” 

His words got me confused as I stood there speculating. “Ohhh, don't tell me everything was faked!” I exclaimed as the thought of it hit my head. 

“Hahah,” he laughed in a low pitch. “I couldn't bear the fact that something was going on between you and my dad in the room, so I decided to put on a show. Oh what an amazing doctor. He did a good job by lying to my dad. You don't have to be surprised pretty. You saw the way my dad came running around, he can't afford to lose his only son, or perhaps if am not mistaken his only child. The heir to the Deiago's group. That's the same way he will be infuriated if he gets to find out that his precious soon to be wife is playing both father and son, ahhh. How does that sound,” 

I was filled with rage as Max's last words sinked into my head. I raised my hands to slap him, but he caught it. “Not this time again princess,” he whispered to my ear. Filled with rage, I immediately bent down to leave , but he pulled me back. He stared at me seductively as he used his hands to caress my lips, staring intently at it with a burning desire in his eyes. 

Stupid me, I can't get hold of my emotions. I stared at him waiting for his lips to press onto mine, but he was just there staring. I just stood there feeling helplessly aroused. I know what he's doing. He wants to make me desire him more. He wants me to make the first move, but as much as I want to, I just couldn't. Although I was already very horny. I tried as much as possible to control myself. I knew if I didn't leave, something might happen, so tried to leave again, but this time around he drew me back, flipped me over, and pinned me to the wall. He kissed me passionately with his tongue stuck in my mouth. 

He pulled back and used his finger to play on my lips. I was already reckless, and that's what he wanted. He kissed me countless times but pulled back at each kiss, which drove me crazy. I wanted him but he kept pulling back.

I couldn't wait any longer as I pulled him closer, wrapped my hands around his head and kissed him passionately. We couldn't let go of each other as we were already caressing and undressing each other forgetting we were in the kitchen. 

He was already pulling down my nightgown when we heard a loud noise. I quickly pulled away from him, waiting to know who's that, when he grabbed my hands, and pulled me down as we squat under the table in the kitchen. 

I saw Richard's legs as he walked into the kitchen. I grasped, trembling in shock, but Max quickly used hand to cover my mouth, to prevent me from emitting sound. 

“What is that noise?” Richard asked the maid who was behind him.

I couldn't help but tremble in fear as Richard walked around the table coming almost close to where we were.

My heart skipped……
