Trouble in the office 2

Kelvin's heart stopped. His face was already bathed in sweat. He tried to reply, but he was too shaky to do so.

        ""You see? He could not even say anything in his defense. He is definitely a thief and a cheat!"" Evelyn said with triumph in her eyes.

      He shook his head, ""No, I promise you all. I am not a thief. I can not steal anything from anyone. I am saying the truth."" He said shakily.

            There were some doubts in Anna's eyes.

         ""Why would she accuse you of such a crime if you did not do as she says you have done."" She raised her brows.

       Kelvin put his hands together, ""Please ma'am, you have to believe me. None of what she is saying is true."" He pleaded.

         Evelyn rolled her eyes, ""So do you think I will just accuse you of such a thing?"" She scoffed.

        Anna sighed and held her head. This was his first day at work, and she was already hearing bad reports about him.

        ""You should tell him to leave Anna, he will do you no good."" Evelyn said firmly.

          Kelvin fell on his knees.

           ""Ma'am please you do not ask me to leave. I really need this job. If I lose this one, where else will I go to look for another one?"" He was close to tears.

        Anna felt sorry for him, but Evelyn would hear none of it.

        ""You have to believe me Anna, are you going to believe someone you barely know? You do not know him, but you have known me for years now."" Evelyn fired.

       Mister Hamilton was already getting fed up with Evelyn's incessant yelling.

         ""Miss Wilson, sit down!"" He shouted at her.

        Evelyn looked at him in shock, ""You are shutting me down?"" She asked wide eyed.

           ""Do you even have any proof? You have no right to just accuse someone when you do not have any proof."" He said.

         ""But he."" Mister Hamilton cut her short by raising his hand signaling her to stop.

            He told Kelvin to stand up.

          ""Young man, are you sure of what you are saying? Are you sure none of this is true?"" He asked calmly.

          ""I promise you sir. I can even promise you in my life. I am not a thief."" He shook his head.

             He faced Anna, ""Just give him a chance."" He said.

           Evelyn flared up, ""Do you even know what you are saying? This man is not a good person at all!"" She fired.

            Anna was beginning to get irritated, ""Evelyn stops all this. You are delaying our meeting."" She frowned.

         ""I do not care if it gets delayed or not provided this thief leaves this place right now."" She said.

           ""But I am not a thief."" Kelvin said.

      Mister Hamilton stood up, ""Miss Evelyn, I suggest you leave this place. You are not doing us any good."" He pointed to the door.

          ""Will you make me? I am important here as much as you are, and I am not leaving this place until this man leaves."" She replied rudely.

            Anna was shocked. Evelyn just replied to Mister Hamilton in a very rude way.

         One of the stakeholders, Mister McDonald, said, ""Are you out of your mind, Miss Wilson? Do you know who you are talking to?""

             ""Evelyn, you have to stop this nonsense!"" She warned.

           ""None of you can just shut me down. It is not possible. I am trying to help you all, and you all think I have committed a crime?"" She said adamantly.

           ""You call all this drama help?"" Mister Hamilton asked her.

         ""Mister Hamilton, with all due respect, I suggest you keep your words to yourself. They are of no use."" Evelyn told him.

        Everyone in the room gasped loudly, and they began to murmur.

    Mister Hamilton was shocked. He quickly composed himself, straightened his suit and told everyone.

               ""Goodbye. Anna, you can definitely continue by yourself, I am out of here."" He walked to the door.

            Anna ran after him, ""Mister Hamilton sir, please do not go.""

         ""Should I stand here and watch her insult me in the presence of all these people?"" He asked.

          ""Please sir, I will talk to her, but please do not leave us like this. Please sir, you are very important here."" She pleaded

               ""I am sorry, Anna, but I will not stay here, you are all better off without me."" He opened the door and left.

          Anna turned around angrily and stormed to meet Evelyn.

          ""How dare you? Do you know what you have just done?"" She yelled.

          ""What have I done? I have done nothing wrong!"" Evelyn defended herself.

          The people present shook their heads in disappointment. One by one, they all began to leave.

            Anna watched them leave with pain in her eyes. She turned to look at Evelyn.

           ""Why did you do all this? What was the need?"" 

              ""Because I do not want him here!"" Evelyn replied.

            ""Why? What has he done to you?"" She asked.

                  Evelyn looked away, ""A lot of things."" She said quietly.

               ""A lot of things? If he did all that to you, why do you have to come and ruin my life with your past?""

             ""There is no need to start explaining now. All I can tell you is, tell this man to leave here. He is of no good to this place."" She said.

          Anna held her head and looked at Kelvin, who was mum.

           ""What exactly does she have against you?"" She raised her chin.

           He gulped and shook his head, ""I honestly do not know.""

            Evelyn looked at him with hatred in her eyes.

            ""Just shut up and do not say anything!"" She fired at him.

           Anna closed her eyes, still trying to process everything that had just happened.

               ""Mister Hamilton, the most important stakeholder in this company is gone all because of you!"" She screamed at Evelyn, who did not look remorseful.

             ""You do not have to worry about him. Someone more important than he is will surely come here."" She said.

            ""He is definitely bad luck here."  She pointed at Kelvin."" You should definitely ask him to leave.""

        Anna turned to face Kelvin, ""You know what? Just go away from here!""

          Kelvin was petrified, ""Ma'am?""

         ""You heard me right. Leave."" She pointed to the door.

        Kelvin was shattered completely. He took slow steps to the door.

         Evelyn could feel her smirk widen. This was all she wanted, she wanted to ruin him since he did not agree to elope with her.

          He went to the door and looked at Evelyn for the last time. She only smirked at him.

      With a broken heart, he left the conference room.
