""Who is this personal assistant of yours?"" Katherine asked again.
""I do not know him. I just went into my room to see him. I asked him why he was there, and he said he had applied for a job."" Anna said.
""You mean father set up a job vacancy?"" Katherine arched her brows.
""I was surprised myself, but well, I could tell him to leave."" She sighed.
""But.""
""But what?"" She asked.
""How did he eventually leave then?"" Katherine asked.
""I fired him. It was all Evelyn's fault, she made me pour all my bitterness on the poor man."" She sighed.
""So he left as soon as he came."" Katherine nodded slowly.
""Yeah."" Anna replied.
""How come Ralph is angered over it?"" Katherine frowned.
Anna creased her brows, ""I do not know why he is angry. It surprised me to know he knew that guy.""
Katherine nodded, ""No problem then, do not just get into a fight with him, he is your older brother after all.""
She rolled her eyes angrily and muttered under her breath, ""Older brother my foot.""
Katherine shook her head and walked out of the dining room.
""Curse that brother of mine!"" Anna breathed heavily.
She sat down on her chair to resume her eating but could not eat.
She held her head and dropped her spoon, ""All because of a random guy I barely know."" She muttered.
Kelvin sat outside the house looking sober. He held his chin in thought.
Jacky went outside, and saw Kelvin lost in his thoughts. He sat beside him.
""What is the matter, Kelvin? Why do you look so worried?"" Jacky held his shoulder.
Jacky looked at him and smiled, ""It is nothing. I am fine."" He lied.
""I know you are lying, you are obviously worried."" Jacky pouted.
Kelvin sighed and palmed his face. His expression did not agree with his words.
""I am so sorry Jacky, but I can not help but think. I am so worried right now."" He held his head, tired.
Jacky hugged him, ""You do not have to worry about anything, Kelvin, everything will be fine.""
""Nothing seems to be fine, everything is just going wrong."" He thinned his lips.
""But Grandma always says we should always be positive."" Jacky blinked.
Kelvin palmed his face again, ""I know Jacky, but this is too much. Everything is so not right.""
""You do not have to be this way, Kelvin. Overthinking will not help solve the problem. Grandma always said that."" Jacky said.
""This is reality, Jacky. There is nothing we can do about it."" He said calmly.
Jacky pouted, ""If you are like this, I will also be sad.""
Kelvin looked at him, ""Oh Jacky, you do have to be sad. I will think of a way out, I promise.""
They hugged again.
Alexander came back from work. He worked as an electrician.
""Hey there guys, what's up?"" He smiled cheerfully at them.
Kelvin forced an answer, ""Hey, how was work?""
Jacky ran to him, ""Hey there Alexander."" He grinned and Alexander carried him in his hands.
He looked at Kelvin, ""How are you Kelvin?"" He smiled.
""I am not good, as always."" He rolled his eyes.
Alexander sighed, ""You have to stop beating yourself up. You can not just sit down here all day. You have to get up and look for something to do.""
""It is always a waste of time. It never works."" He shook his head.
Jacky exchanged looks with Alexander.
""When did you start being a pessimist?"" Alexander raised his brows.
Kelvin twisted his lips, ""That does not matter.""
""It does matter. Being a pessimist now will not help you."" Alexander walked up to him.
Kelvin held his head in despair.
Alexander sat beside him and held his shoulder, ""Everything will be fine.""
Kelvin nodded, still holding his head, ""Let us go inside."" He stood up and helped Kelvin get up.
They all went inside.
""Let us go and prepare dinner Jacky."" Alexander winked and they both walked to the kitchen laughing.
Kelvin sat on the couch, and rested against it. There was a heavy silence in the room and it was slowly pressuring him. He felt as if he would break under it.
There was a knock on the door.
""I will get it."" Kelvin said and went to the door.
He opened it and found Ralph outside the door.
He blinked in surprise, ""What are you doing here?"" He asked in what sounded like a whisper.
""I was looking for you. I heard Anna fired you and,""
Kelvin cut him short, ""How did you find me?"" He asked, wide-eyed.
""I just had to look for you. I could not stand the fact that you were gone."" He sighed.
Kelvin frowned deeply.
""You are not supposed to be here. You should go."" Kelvin said.
""Please Kelvin, you should come back. I will be the one to employ you this time and not Anna, and I promise not to fire you."" He pleaded.
Kelvin held his breath for a while, Ralph could really give him the job he wanted.
""I do not know about this."" He rubbed his neck gently.
""Come on Kelvin, this will definitely benefit you in some way. You need a job, do you not?"" Ralph asked keenly.
""I do, but why does it have to be under you?"" He asked, confused.
""You do not have to worry about anything. I will make sure you are well paid."" He tried to assure him.
Alexander came to the parlor. He looked at Ralph with a kind of uncertainty.
""Who is this Kelvin?"" Alexander asked.
Ralph looked at him and raised his brows.
""Well."" Kelvin was unable to say anything.
Ralph looked at Kelvin again, ""Come on Kelvin, come back."" He pleaded.
Alexander was taken aback, ""Okay, Kelvin, what is going on here?"" He raised his chin.
""Alexander, I will explain to you later. Right now, I have to deal with him."" He sighed.
""You need a job right now, am I right?"" Ralph asked.
""Yeah, I do."" He said quietly.
""So it means I can help you."" He smiled.
Alexander squinted his eyes, something did not feel right about this guy.
He grabbed Kelvin's hand and pulled him closer and spoke in his ear, ""Who is this guy?""
""Her brother."" He replied simply.
""Whose brother?"" He arched his brow.
""The lady who was supposed to be my boss, that is her brother."" He replied.
Alexander raised his brows, ""I do not know why, but something does not feel right about this guy." He said quietly.
Ralph looked at them, ""Kelvin?"" He called.
Kelvin looked at him, ""Yeah?""
""Are you accepting it? Please do, you have to come back."" He said softly.
Alexander felt uneasy, he took Kelvin's hand and led him in.
""Give us a minute."" He told Ralph.
They went to the kitchen.
""Come on, tell him who he is."" He said firmly.
""Why is he here? How did he find you? How did he know you were living here with me?"" He bombarded him with questions. ""I am as confused as you are. I honestly do not know how she found out."" He held his chest. ""I do not know why, but he seems odd. I do not like him."" Alexander frowned. ""He is gay."" Kelvin sighed. Alexander pushed his head backwards and raised his brows. ""That is the reason he wants you back!''" Alexander hit his palm. ""He says he will take me back and give me a job again."" Kelvin thinned his lips. ""You are not probably not thinking about it, are you? He is gay Kelvin, gay!"" He almost yelled. ""I know that, but he is willing to give me a job again."" His eyes brightened. ""You are not serious Kelvin."" Alexander shook his head slowly and folded his arms. ""But Alexander, I really need this job, this might result in good pay."" Kelvin tried reasoning with him.
Kelvin stood rooted to the ground, he looked confused. She walked to him and held his hand, ""It is good to see you again Michael."" She said softly. Kelvin shook his head, ""I am not who you think I am. I am not Michael."" He said. She frowned, ""Are you trying to deny your identity now?"" She raised her nose in pretended annoyance. He frowned deeply, ""I am not denying anything. I am not Michael, my name is Kelvin."" He released his hand from hers. ""You are not Michael?"" She blinked. ""I am not Michael, I do not know who you are talking about."" He sighed. ""Oh, I am sorry, I did not realize it."" She apologized. He nodded, ""It is okay, you just mistook me for someone else."" He said calmly and continued his walk down the street. A few minutes later, he sensed something following him. He tried shoving it off his mind. He continued his walk home but noticed whatever or whoever was follo
"I swear Kev, I love you." A young girl of about nineteen years old said. She was wearing a skimpy red dress that was above her knees, with silver stiletto heels. She was fair in complexion, average in height and had nice curves. Her long wavy brown hair reached her waist. She had honey brown eyes, a pointed nose and rosy pink lips. ""Evelyn, you know what we are going to land ourselves on. Ma'am Pat wouldn't like to see us together. She'll be mad."" A young man with old clothes replied. He was pretty handsome, he had sea-blue eyes, his nose was pointed like an eagle's beak and he had red lips. He was quite muscular. ""Momma is not going to know Kev, it'll be a secret, I promise. This is going to be between us."" Evelyn rolled her eyes. ""Besides, is it money you want? I'll give it to you. Just accept me please. I really, really love you."" She pouted. She leaned forward and hugged him, her head on his chest. Kelvin didn't respond to the h
""What is wrong now?"" He wondered. His heartbeat accelerated, a bad feeling suddenly engulfed him. On getting to the entrance, he saw a group of women consoling Jacky. A white cloth was placed over something. ""Can someone tell me what's going on?"" He asked. One of the women stared at him and pointed to the cloth. ""What is under it? What is going on?"" He asked again. "Grandma is dead." Jacky croaked. He was shocked. ""Tell me it's a joke."" He said in what sounded like a whisper. One of the women holding Jacky looked up at him and said, ""No it's not. We can't joke about someone's death, especially that of an old woman."" He felt a sharp pain in his heart. He ran to the body and knelt besides it. "Grandma? Grandma? Wake up!"" Can you hear me? Please get up, you can't leave me now, get up, please get up."" He shook the dead body violently. Some men tried to lead him away from
Kelvin walked around looking sulky. His head was swelling with emotions. It had been a month since Grandma's burial yet he had no job. Justin. had asked him to refund the money in three months and he had just two months left. ""Goodness, what am I going to do?"" He thought to himself. He was so lost in his thoughts that he did not realise that he bumped into something and knocked it down. ""Oh oh."" He quickly raised it to its position. It was a signboard advertising for the position of a personal assistant. His eyes widened. He quickly jotted down the address and scurried home. ""Jacky guess what?"" He said excitedly. ""What is it now?"" Jacky asked arching his brow. ""I'll be going on a interview tomorrow. I just saw a job vacancy and I'll be going there tomorrow for an interview."" He beamed. ""That's great news."" Jacky beamed. ""So tomorrow you are going to stay Alexander till I get back.""
They got to the room. ""Here is ma'am Anna's room."" She said and left. He sighed and knocked on her door. There was no response. He knocked again but still there was no response. He opened the door a little and peeped. There was no one in the room. ""Should I go in?"" He asked himself. He opened the door and entered the room. No one seemed to be around the room. He looked around and chuckled. This lady had a thing for fashion. It was an all pink room. The walls were painted in pink, the furniture were pink, the bedspread and pillows matched with the walls and furniture. It had a lot of frills and bows There was a canopy bed with pink tulle draping down and a canopy of white voile. The light fixtures were frilly and pink, and even the light bulbs were pink-tinted! A fluffy white rug, lay in the centre. There were some ornate mirrors, and a walk in closet. The sound of steps jolted him out of h
""What's your name?"" She asked. ""It's Kelvin ma'am."" He replied. She sighed and walked inside her room. "Why can't father just leave me alone? What do I need a personal assistant for?" She frowned. Kelvin arched her brow, she might not need a personal assistant but he needed the job and the money. She walked to her study. Kelvin stood rooted to the spot he stood on. He looked around feeling uneasy. She came back with a pile of manila folders in her hands. "Hey, come take these." She said. He rushed to her and took the files from her. ""You should learn how to respond to me very fast and move fast too. I hate slow things and people."" She scoffed. Kelvin nodded, "Yes ma'am." He gulped. "We have a lot of things to do."" She walked briskly to the door. He hesitated. She turned and looked at him, "Are you not coming along? Do not just stand there."" She frowned. He blinked
Kelvin's heart stopped. His face was already bathed in sweat. He tried to reply, but he was too shaky to do so. ""You see? He could not even say anything in his defense. He is definitely a thief and a cheat!"" Evelyn said with triumph in her eyes. He shook his head, ""No, I promise you all. I am not a thief. I can not steal anything from anyone. I am saying the truth."" He said shakily. There were some doubts in Anna's eyes. ""Why would she accuse you of such a crime if you did not do as she says you have done."" She raised her brows. Kelvin put his hands together, ""Please ma'am, you have to believe me. None of what she is saying is true."" He pleaded. Evelyn rolled her eyes, ""So do you think I will just accuse you of such a thing?"" She scoffed. Anna sighed and held her head. This was his first day at work, and she was already hearing bad reports about him. ""You should tell him to leave Anna, he will do you no good
