Dazed I was, as soon as I saw a glimpse of the interior. It seemed modernized unlike the houses and palaces I’ve visited in this place. It was just a small expanse like that of a minimalist house. There’s a wooden loft bed beside a round window, girded with flower ornaments. There’s a small chimney made of firebricks. There’s a small round table in front of it and it was full of meals that I guess Gili has prepared. I was lured by the mouthwatering smell of the roasted turkey at the center of the table. There was also a platter of pasta that seemed like alle vongole and banana loaves. It’s the first time I saw this menu in this place. Compared to the food I’ve dined with the royal family, this is simply extravagant. So this means witches are even richer than them?Oh, well. They have magic anyway. That explains things.“Hurry! While the food is still warm.” Gili gestured his hand to the table. There were just throw pillows around the table. The wool carpet on the floor seemed so good
"We need to talk. I've got so many questions for you, dummy." Amaris pondered.I was still staring blankly at the giant rock blocking the passage, thinking how I could get away from being alone with Amaris. "Hey? Are you listening?" Amaris called.I immediately turned to him, wondering why he suddenly raised his voice. I guess I heard him say something but I was too occupied with fear and didn't understand."Yes?" I gasped."Why are you just standing there?" He sounded irritated now. “Did you somehow enjoy the food that Gili prepared for you?” He added.“Yeah,” I gasped.“Great. But why do you look stiff? It’s like I’m gonna eat you. Are you scared of being alone with me here?” He scowled. It’s really awkward being alone with him. "W-Why? What am I supposed to do?" I stuttered, confused. He rolled his eyes and stood from his seat. He approached me and snatched my hand to drag me somewhere. My heart was thumping audibly as I felt the odd comforting warmth of his hand. Come to think of
“Aries?” I suddenly voiced out. Not sure if it was me who spoke, or the other voice inside me. When I realized what I just called him, I immediately gagged my mouth with my shaky hands. Why is this voice bothering me again?“What did you call me?” He pondered, giving me a menacing look. “You’ve also called me by that name the first time we met. Who is this Aries? I’ve been having nightmares with a little girl crying out that name to me.” He seemed confused and exasperated while his right hand was gripping frantically at the wooden barricade. Even though it’s only the moonbeam that gives light to the night, I could clearly see the veins protruding on his hands.“S-So you’re also having recurrences about this name?” I asked warily. Just wanting to confirm we’re on the same boat. “Yes.” He responded firmly.I was astonished for a moment. So there’s probably a crucial possibility that this man and Aries are connected. But how? As much as I remember, that boy is not a witch but Amaris is.
I tucked myself closer to the warm thing beside me. It’s so comforting, like I don’t want to get up from my bed anymore. I can’t believe I was able to sleep after all the trouble that happened yesterday. Now I’m here being lazy to get up. But then I remembered I have a task to be done today. I need to search for the scroll and Nemiah’s diary as well. I wonder where Amaris slept last night. I slowly opened my eyes, only to figure out that the thing that was keeping me warm was Amaris’s body. He’s sleeping beside me! My head is even resting on his arm. How did this happen without me noticing his movement? Did I really sleep so well last night that I didn't even realize he was laying beside me? I tried to feel my body. I hope nothing happened while I was sleeping. His face was so close to mine and he seemed so deep in his sleep. This jerk! What was he thinking and why did he sleep here next to me? But I end up being mesmerized by his beauty. His long lashes were so beautiful I wish mine
Gladly I was able to persuade Amaris to look for the journal near the falls we once got caught up in. I suggested to him that we should stop first by the cave so I could inform them that we'll be searching for something. I'm really worried about my tiger if he's just okay after that madman injected something into his body. Namir would probably insist on coming with us, but Dubheasa's soldiers are scattered all over the place. They would eventually recognize Namir and might put us all in danger. At least with Amaris, he can hide me using his magic. We rode to his giant crow to reach Kuu's cave. The morning view of the ocean was more spectacular than at night. The dark ocean glimmers with the morning sun. I could see groups of dolphins playfully jumping out the water. I wonder if they have mermaids here too. I wanna ask Amaris but he seemed so serious ever since we left his cabin. He appears to be in deep thoughts and I guess it's all about his weird memories. I'll just ask him sometime
The moment we landed in front of the cave, Namir eventually get out to meet me. I guess he's been waiting and he already smelled me from afar. How he fondly clutched on me shows he really missed me for not being with him last night. I giggled as he licked my face."Yeah, I know. I missed you too, Namir. Glad you're okay after what that madman did to you." I muttered to my tiger. Namir purred like he sounded sorry and it kinda broke my heart."Yes you do. You couldn't even handle that feeble thug and let Nemiah get kidnapped." Amaris scolded Namir."Did my tiger say something?" I was confused on how he responded to Namir's purr. Namir just growled at him in response."Of course I do. He was saying sorry for not being able to save you. That's your tiger, why are you asking me? Don't you understand what it's saying?" He wondered."No." I murmured. "That's amazing. I wish I could understand him too." I added, as I rub my fingers through his fur.Amaris rolled his eyes. "If you only knew."
Well, knowing Caius being a hard-headed prince, he really insisted on coming with us. Even Namir, being so overprotective, also ended up coming with us. Amaris was dismayed that the plan for finding the journal became a group search. It was dangerous for everyone since the forest is infested with Dubheasa's witches who are hunting us—especially me. But I kinda feel worried about Amaris as well. What if someone sees him helping us and reports it to his mother? Doesn't he really care about betraying his mother? But I know he's just holding back to capture me because of his memories of that child. If he figures out I am not the real Nemiah, he will surely change his mind.Amaris suggested that we rode on his giant crow instead, because traveling on land will make us more prone to stray witches. Caius was indignant at first and didn't want to agree with Amaris's plan, but his mother was able to encourage him somehow. While we were on the air, everyone was quiet. Amaris sat in front to ma
The sun's heat was starting to get intense. It's almost noon but we still haven't found any. I can already smell my sweat from the puff of my clothes. I'll definitely take a cold bath once I get back. But I hope we don't get home empty handed. Has someone got those things already?"Any luck?" Amaris muttered above me. He was sitting crossed legs on the branch while munching a leaf. I can sense that he's already bored. He suggested we help a few minutes earlier but I told him to stay up there and just watch us. Now I'm wondering if it's time I should ask for his help already.I was taken aback when I heard the bushes rustling behind me. I stepped back slowly, trying to be alert in case something unusual pops up from it. Namir and Caius are somehow far from me, though I got Amaris above me.The rustling became more worrying so I stepped back a little further. I guess Amaris noticed it so he jumped off and stood before me. "Stay behind me." He spit out the leaf he was chewing and took a
