CHAPTER 100

CHARLOTTE'S POV

My eyes fluttered open as the soft hum of machines beeping around me made me realize where I was. The hospital, again.

My body felt heavy and my head pounding lightly as whatever they gave to me started to wear off. I blinked as my eyes slowly adjusted to the bright lights above me and I turned my head to see that I was all alone. I thought Owen would be here…

I tried to sit up and that’s when I felt it, a strange emptiness inside me that I haven't felt in a while and my heart sank.

The baby.

My eyes widened in shock as my hand immediately moved to my stomach, the place where I had felt a little one growing inside me.

But now...

There was nothing. I knew it before anyone told me anything. My baby was gone.

I bit my lip as I tried to stop the flood of emotions that threatened to overwhelm me. I couldn't break down. Not yet.

I knew that Owen needed me to be strong. I had to hold on, for him.
