CHARLOTTE'S POV

“Doctor, is there a problem?” I asked as I sat down in front of him and he took off his glasses.

“Yes, there is. It's not concerning Owen's health so calm down.” He said and my chest heaved in relief.

“That's a relief. What is the problem then?”

“I've been getting… calls and texts. Just like you warned me earlier. Someone wants me to kill your husband. When I told him I couldn't kill someone, he told me to make sure Owen stays in a vegetative state.”

My heart sank into my stomach. This was definitely Caleb.

“Please doctor, you can't listen to him. Whatever he's offering, I'll pay you triple. Just promise me that you'll protect him, no matter what.” I pleaded as I clasped my hands together and he nodded in agreement.
