Aubrey was sitting on the couch in the living room, watching TV and enjoying a cup of hot chocolate. It was Saturday and she had nothing to do, so she decided to have a lazy day by herself. Maria was out, since she had a photo session, leaving the apartment for Aubrey.
An hour ago, Jessica messaged Aubrey asking her if she was free the next day to have dinner at the Hill's place. Since Aubrey had nothing to do, she agreed. All of that was still a bit shocking to her. She could not grasp the thought of being this close to him and slowly she was getting close to his family.
As she was watching an episode of Friends, her phone rang. She grabbed it from the coffee table to check the caller I.D. Jordan was calling her. She smiled to herself and answered the phone.
"Hey," she said, smiling a little to herself.
"How have you been?" he asked.
"Everything's good, I'm actually having a lazy day," she replied. "And I'm watching Friends," she added.
"Lucky you, I have work to do today. I have a photoshoot," he said.
"Photoshoots aren't that bad."
"True, they aren't the worst," he agreed. "I have a suggestion and you have every right to refuse, but it's just an idea that came to my mind," he said. Aubrey could tell how nervous he was. Why on earth would Jordan Hill be nervous on speaking to me? She couldn't help but ask herself.
"Sure, what is it?" she wondered.
"Would you like to collaborate with me?" he suggested, causing her eyes to go wide.
"I'd love to!" she exclaimed, hoping that she was not too loud.
"Really?" Happiness was obvious in his voice. "This is great!" he said. His enthusiasm was almost equal to hers.
"We can meet up and discuss the whole thing whenever you have time," Aubrey told him and he agreed. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow. I don't know if you know this or not, but Jess invited me to your family's place tomorrow for dinner."
"Yeah I know, my mum will love you," he said, then he quickly slapped his forehead, feeling so stupid for saying something like that. "I mean my whole family will love you, you're a great person," he corrected himself.
"Thank you." She blushed a bit as she was still not used to receiving compliments from him. "See you tomorrow," she said then she hung up. Once she was sure that she hung up, she threw her hands up in the air, screaming a loud 'YES' while doing a little happy dance in her place. She could not believe that she was about to collaborate with her celebrity crush.
She decided to Skype with her parents since she hadn't talked to them for a couple of days; she missed them a lot. During the first three months of moving to Los Angeles, she used to get homesick a lot that she considered returning to Louisiana. Her parents were happy for her when she shared the news of collaborating with Jordan with them, but like any other father, hers did not miss the chance to ask if something was going on between her and Jordan. For sure, Aubrey assured him that they were just friends and he was just probably being nice to one of his fans who happened to be in the same industry as him. Aubrey was truly oblivious to the thoughts that roamed Jordan's mind every night.
The next day, Maria took care of styling Aubrey's hair and putting on her make-up. She made sure to keep everything as simple as possible, just like how Aubrey loved it.
"I'm starting to love the fact that I have a best friend who happens to be a make-up artist, a hairstylist and a photographer." Aubrey grinned as she looked at her reflection in the mirror.
"I get to experiment on you, it's a win-win situation," Maria joked. She was never experimenting on Aubrey, she knew what she was doing. Aubrey took her phone and snapped a couple of selfies of her look and she took a couple of ones with Maria. After choosing the best ones, she posted them on Instagram, knowing that they would boost Maria's followers.
"Thank you." Maria smiled at her.
"It's nothing, Ria. It's the least I can do."
Aubrey got up to get dressed and once she was done, she called Maria again in her room to see how she looked. She was wearing a simple knee-length black dress with a small V cut on the back and a bow at the end of the cut. Aubrey styled the dress with burgundy heels and a burgundy clutch. She looked elegant, but not extra. Aubrey's hair was pulled up in a curly ponytail and her make-up was very simple; the only visible thing was the burgundy lipstick.
While Aubrey was driving to the Hill's place, she hummed to the song on the radio. It was one of her favourites.
"I'm out of touch, I'm out of love
I'll pick you up when you're getting down
And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now
I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind
I'll do it for you in time
And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now."
After a little while, she arrived at the house, Aubrey looked at it with great admiration. It was the kind of place she would want to live in with the love of her life.
"This place is amazing," she spoke to herself in a low voice. She got out of her car and straightened her dress. She took one deep breath before walking to the front door.
She rang the doorbell and waited for someone to open the door. Jessica opened the door with a wide smile on her face. "Welcome to our place," she greeted Aubrey with a gentle hug.
"Thank you." Aubrey's smile was wide and genuine.
"You're choking the poor girl, Jessie," Jordan said chuckling as he appeared in front of them. The two girls pulled away and Jessie glared at him playfully.
"She gives amazing hugs," Jessica defended herself, earning a small laugh from Aubrey. Jordan agreed with his sister, Aubrey did give him an amazing hug when he surprised her on the show.
The three of them walked inside, Aubrey could not help but look around in great fondness, admiring every corner of the big house she was in.
"You've such a nice place. I'm in love with the interior designing," Aubrey told them.
"Thank you. In fact, Jordan did most of the choosing. He surprised us one day with the keys and we didn't really change anything. We loved it the way it was. However we chose the design of our own bedrooms," Jessica replied.
"You're such a family guy," Aubrey whispered to Jordan. He chuckled to himself a little, out of nervousness.
"I just love my family," he said, looking at her. "I love your dress," he complimented her, making her smile grow as she thanked him. He guided her to the living room and they both sat beside each other.
Soon his other siblings and parents appeared, welcoming Aubrey to their house. Jordan looked like a younger version of his father. They both were almost identical in height, but Jordan was a little bit taller. His mother was so lovely towards her, making Aubrey feel at home. Just on one day, Aubrey met his older brother, Jason and his fiancée, Nina. She also met Jayden, the youngest sibling.
"It's really nice having you here." Marissa smiled at her.
"Thank you. Thanks for having me here," Aubrey replied with a bright smile on her face.
She felt at home; the whole family was really welcoming. She clicked more with Jessica, they chatted together a lot and talked about various things. Jordan almost forgot that Jessica was not a real huge fan of Aubrey as she acted quite natural. He did not think that Jessica was acting anymore, seeing both, Jessie and Aubrey, really enjoying each other's company.
"Has Jordy tried to flirt with you?" Jason asked Aubrey with a smirk, meaning to embarrass his younger brother. Jason and Jordan were so close to each other. Jason was only two years older than Jordan, so the age gap was not big; however, Jason enjoyed embarrassing Jordan, calling him with his childhood nickname and doing other things.
"Shut up, Jace," Jordan muttered with a scoff.
"He has been nice. He didn't try to be flirty at all," Aubrey defended him with a small giggle.
"Ooooh, you've got the girl defending you. Now I can't annoy you," Jason teased Jordan.
"You're just mad you don't have my charm," Jordan fired back with a smirk.
"All right everybody, let's have dinner." Jordan's mother announced and everybody went to the dining room.
"Sorry about what happened, Bree," Jordan told Aubrey, scratching the back of his neck nervously.
"It's okay, Jordy," she told him, smirking, earning a groan from him.
"If you want a nickname for me, please stick to Dan," he told her, chuckling.
"It's okay, Dan. I really like your family," she told him truthfully, she did not feel homesick when she was with them, she felt comfortable and relaxed. A part of Jordan was over the moon on hearing her say that. He wanted her to get closer to him and his family. Although he was scared of that at first, he had a feeling that it could lead to something beautiful later on.
It's been a week since Aubrey's visit to the Hills family. Aubrey and Jordan grew close to each other as the days passed which was something they both liked; however, they didn't like to announce it. They would text each other all day long and they even went out a couple of times. Aubrey did her best to deny the fact that she started to feel something towards him. Unlike her, Jordan was not in denial, his whole family knew he had feelings for her, but he was doing his best to conceal whatever feeling that made its way to his heart. He always said that he was waiting for the right time to tell her, yet he never knew which time was the right one.
After a week of talking to Jason, Jordan decided to make the move and ask Aubrey out. Although he waited for a week after his talk with Jason, he found out that waiting was no use; it only increased his worries and fears of rejection. Jason spent a lot of time thinking about the best way to ask her out. He kept taking notes of what she liked and what she hated, so he'd give her the perfect date. He really wanted to impress her. Jordan picked up his phone to cal
An hour passed on what happened in the live interview and Aubrey was nowhere to be found. Everybody saw what happened and they tried to reach her, but she did not return home and her phone was off. Maria tried to call her once the interview was over, but Aubrey did not turn her phone on after the interview. Even Jessica tried to reach her, but she failed. When Jordan saw the interview, all the air left his lungs. He was sure th
Aubrey looked terrible when she woke up the next morning. She didn't have bags under her eyes, she didn't have make-up traces on her face, but she looked lifeless. She could not get over what Jordan had said; it was hard for her to believe that he actually said those things about her. Her mind could not process the words he uttered. She took a shower, hoping that it would help her to relax, but it was no use; she ended up crying as she showered. She dried her body, moving like a robot, then she got dressed.
Aubrey stood in front of Jordan's front door. She did not want to knock or ring the doorbell. She did not want to see him, but she knew it had to be done one way or another. She took a deep breath and rang the doorbell then waited for him to open the door. After a couple of seconds, Jordan opened the door and smiled widely when he saw her. He quickly pulled her into a hug; he needed to feel her touch against his body. She wanted to push him away so badly, but she thought that anyone might spot them together and take pictures. She needed to do everything for publicity."I'm so glad you're here," he mumbled, still holding her in his arms. He did not want to go inside. He knew that if he did, she would keep her distance."Can we get inside, please?" she asked coldly. Jordan nodded and took her inside.
Aubrey returned home after visiting Jordan. Her mind could not stop thinking about the whole act and what needed to be done. She was close to going crazy. Maria was nowhere to be seen in the apartment as she left for work an hour ago. Aubrey threw herself on the couch and turned on the TV, hoping that it would be a good source of distraction. She heard her phone ringing in her bag, so she reached for it; Austin was calling. "Hey Austin," she answered, putting the phone on speaker. "Are you okay?" he asked her the moment she answered. "I'm good.... no need to worry about me," she assured him, but she was a liar. She was not okay. She was far from that. "You know that you're not forced to continue this
Jordan held his phone tightly in his hands, debating whether or not to call Aubrey. It has been five days since they last went out together and he wanted to see her, but he was well aware that he was the last person she would want to see. He was almost a hundred per cent sure that he was the person she hated the most in her life. He did not want to be that person, but things got out of hand and he fell into the trap. He should have known from the beginning that something was off. After more than twenty minutes of thinking, Jordan built up his courage and called her. He did not know if she would accept going out with him or not, but he decided to give it a go. "Hey." He heard her voice through the phone and suddenly he got nervous. Aubrey made him see himself as a high
"You've never been this silent before," Aubrey commented, looking at Jessica who was sitting in front of her. "It's kind of awkward between us." Jessica shrugged, glancing at Aubrey. "And why is that?" Aubrey wondered, resting her chin on the palm of her hand while her elbow was on her knee. "I'm Jordan's sister." Jessica frowned. "He messed up." "HE messed up, not you," Aubrey pointed out. "Why would I treat you differently if everything is okay between us?" &nbs
The warden locks the door of my cell behind me and I let out a heavy sigh as I throw my body on the thin mattress on the narrow bed. I am supposed to be spending the next forty years of my life between these cold, hideous four walls. Nothing here is comfy and I guess this is intended; it's a prison not a hotel after all. I have to get used to this feeling; the feeling of imprisonment. How am I going to survive this? I can't live like this. I need my freedom back. Whatever I've done to that bitch isn't worthy of my freedom. I'm confined and bound by transparent shackles. It feels like there's no air to breathe. It's been two months since I last took a glimpse of the busy streets of Los Angeles and I swear, I am close to losing my mind. I miss the busy streets, the traffic jams, my job- that I lost a long time ago because of my stupidity; I should've been more cautious-, my beautiful girlfriend, the humane food and most importantly, the looks of plea that I used to witness eve
"I'm finally seeing him! I'm finally seeing him!" Aubrey squealed as she got off the plane with Maria and Jessica. They have been on a vacation for a month. They went to more than six countries together. They went on the vacation they talked about on the day of the trial. It was a girls-only vacation just as they planned. Jordan wasn't really excited about the whole thing since he was going to be staying away from Aubrey for a month, but he definitely wanted her to go and have fun."For the love of God!" Jessica rolled her eyes playfully at Aubrey. "It was just one month." She chuckled."Exactly! A month! Like 30 days! I miss him!" Aubrey whined as they walked to the bus that would take them from the plane to the arrival hall. The girls decided to go on this vacation after exactly twenty days of the trial. Ever since Austin's chapter in Aubrey's life came to an end, she became a whole new person. She was more cheerful, happier and she seemed to be more alive. She was b
Aubrey stood in front of the mirror and she adjusted her grey suit on her body. She styled it with a blue blouse that was tucked in the suit's pants. She took in a shaky breath and closed her eyes for a couple of seconds then she opened them again. "You got this," she whispered to herself. "Are you done, babe?" Jordan asked her as he walked out of the dressing room. He approached her from behind and she turned around to face him. "I guess I am." She smiled a little at him. She took her clutch that was on the bed and the two of them went downstairs. Just as they reached the bottom floor, the doorbell rang so Aubrey went to open the door. She found Maria and Jessica before her. "You were supposed to be in Miami," she said in shock, looking at Jessica. Jessica did have a modelling gig she managed to get for a perfume commercial and it was supposed to b
Austin's trial was the following day and Aubrey wasn't okay at all. She was freaking out internally and externally. In the morning, she was pacing around the house, trying to make herself busy with anything, but she failed to keep her mind away from the dark thoughts that roamed through it.She was in the backyard, just walking around, trying to do her best to stay calm. She felt like screaming. There was a huge amount of negativity inside of her and she wanted to let it out. She didn't want to do anything reckless that she might regret later. Keeping her sanity secure wasn't an easy task at such a hard time.Jordan was watching her from afar, attempting to make sure that she was okay without being so close. He didn't want to make her feel like he was breathing down her neck. He knew that she needed space and he was willing to provide her with what she needed, but at the same time, he was worried about her. Nora had already told him to keep an eye on her as Aubrey was
Two weeks passed over Dana's visit. The date of Austin's trial was getting closer and everybody was on the edge. Aubrey was trying to appear contained as much as possible, but internally, she wasn't as strong as she made herself seem. She was breaking into a thousand pieces, but she was doing her best to keep her true feelings hidden.Aubrey started therapy sessions ten days ago. She decided to go for extensive sessions because she felt that was what she needed, yet she didn't justify why she picked the extensive sessions. Most of her close ones knew why and they didn't bother to ask, they were desperate as much as her; they wanted her to get better and they were willing to do anything to get that. Her parents left two weeks ago after they made sure she was stable enough. They were assured that she'd be in good hands with Jordan, Maria and Jessica. They were certain that they would take good care of her. That was what they wanted for their daughter for the time being.
Jordan and Aubrey were still sitting together, watching Netflix while munching on the fruits. Aubrey was sat on his lap. Originally, she was sitting beside him while he had one arm around her and her head was on his shoulder, but lately, they took a liking in that position. It just happened naturally, they didn't do it intentionally. Without even noticing, she would find herself on his lap and honestly, she preferred that position. As they were sitting together, the inner telephone rang, meaning that the security on the mansion gate was calling."Who is at the gate?" Jordan sat up as he talked on the phone. By his tone and the look on his face, the visitor wasn't really favoured."Give me a minute," he said through the phone then looked at Aubrey. "Dana is outside. She wants to see you," Jordan told Aubrey, who seemed to be a bit taken aback by what she had just heard."Dana as in... Austin's girlfriend?" Aubrey gulped, looking at Jordan. He nodded and wa
Aubrey's breath caught up in her throat and her chest started to rise and fall rapidly. She was experiencing another nightmare; the third one in her first week with Jordan. She saw Austin in her nightmares. He would always torture her, hit her and of course, rape her. The nightmares' ideas were the same, but the order of the events was different each time. Her body jolted up as she screamed. Tears were streaming down her face as the intensity of the nightmare managed to break her peaceful sleep or semi-peaceful sleep. She longed for a peaceful night with no nightmares or overthinking, but it seemed like one of those two attacked her each night.Jordan was awoken by her scream and he immediately turned on the light of the lamp on his nightstand. He placed his hand on her back and started to gently rub it."I'm s-sorry." She breathed heavily. "I didn't mean to wake you up. I didn't want that." She whimpered, looking down. She was embarrassed by her state and the s
Aubrey curled up into a ball and stayed in bed. She didn't want to sleep, she just wanted to run away from everyone. She wanted to run away from the looks of sympathy and the questions that roamed their minds. Everything was taunting her, mocking her and even reminding her of what she went through. The looks of pity made the memories attack her. The days she spent locked up in that atrocious cabin played at the back of her mind like a tape on rewind and she failed to turn it off. She looked at the door when she heard it being opened; Jordan walked inside. He wanted to check on her because he was more than sure that she was far from being okay. It killed him to see her in that state, he despised seeing her broken. She resembled an angel with broken wings. The enjoyment of flying was taken away from that angel and now it was stuck on earth; that was how he saw her. He had always thought that she was an angel sent to h
Nobody could comprehend or fathom Aubrey's relief when she saw Jordan's house at her sight. Comfort found its way to her heart and she wanted to do nothing other than locking herself inside and to never get out. It was her safe haven that she didn't want to leave for the rest of her life."You okay?" Jordan asked her as he noticed how she was staring at the house before her."Yeah." She nodded with a smile on her face. He took her hand in his and they walked inside the huge house. All her smiles were broken, Jordan could tell. Even though he hadn't known her for long, he knew her true smile and her broken one. He learned everything about her, he learned to love everything about her and to cherish her.Her parents, Jordan's parents, Jaden and Maria were already inside. They wanted to give her a small welcome party to make her feel at home. They wanted to make her happy and to wash away the days she spent in torture. Yet, they didn't know the cruelness of what she
