Chapter twenty-one

She tossed the bedsheet into the washing machine and broke down in tears.

Why didn't Aamon see she wasn't offended by what happened?

It wasn't anybody's fault, it certainly wasn't his, so why did he have to ruin such a beautiful moment?

She sniffed and quickly wiped her tears when she heard her mother's footsteps approaching.

“You're finally up, I was thinking I would have to come pull you out of bed eventually.” She said with a smile.

Seeing her mother smile, Hadassah tried to shove her earlier emotions away and put on a smile for her mother.

“Yeah, I was really exhausted. I didn't even realize I slept that long.” She replied, trying to sound cheerful while also avoiding her mother's gaze.

She knew her mother would figure her out and she didn't want her to worry, but it was too late because she was now watching her face intently with a small frown.

“Honey?”

“Yes, mum.”

“Can you look at me?” She commanded, and Hadassah swore under her breath as she slowly met her mother's gaze.
