Chapter Eleven: A New Friend

Haru saw the look on his face and sighed. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that... or said that.". He put Owen down and turned away. "I should probably go," Haru said and left. Owen sighed and carried Fluffy in his arms. NEXT DAY Everyone was in the dining room except Haru. "Aren't you gonna eat before you go?" Isa asked, confused. "I'm not hungry," Haru replied. He wanted to go to school immediately. Isa stood up and took her bag. They all stared at her in confusion. "Let's go," Isa said to Haru and they both left. Owen sighed and stared at his plate. He stood up and went upstairs. "Is he okay?" Skylar asked; even though Owen is always mean to her, she couldn't help but worry about him. "To be honest, he's never been okay," Niall responded. I'm sure he'll be fine. "What's going on?", Isa asked. "Don't tell me it's nothing. "It's nothing serious," Haru replied. "Spill it", Isa said. You don't have to lie to me. Haru sighed, "It's about Owen." "What about Owen?" " I kinda kissed him." "You what? Owen? He's mean as fuck. Haru sighed and kept walking. He didn't want to talk about it. "Do you like him?" Isa asked as she looked at him. "I didn't kiss him because he's beautiful." I know I shouldn't have, but I don't regret it. I couldn't control myself. "Just to be clear, it's the same Owen we're talking about. Owen North." "Yeah", Haru replied as he stared at her weirdly. "I'll just avoid him." "Will that work?" "I won't know unless I try. How are things with Nolan? You guess don't seem okay.” "It's probably because we're not okay. It's... complicated. I don't know if I still like him. This all feels wrong; you get what I mean, right?" Isa asked as they entered the school. "I do. You'll figure something out." Haru said with pride. LAST PERIOD* ROOFTOP "I'm not supposed to be here," Isa said as she looked at Nolan; avoiding him was difficult. Nolan saw Isa and hugged her tightly. Isa was about to break the hug when Nolan slammed his lips on hers. This was one of the many reasons she avoided him. It feels wrong. "Are you okay? Nolan asked as she looked at her. "I'm fine", Isa said as she avoided his eyes. "You sure?" Isa nodded and held his hand. "Let's go," Isa said. NORTH MANSION "Are you okay?", Niall said as he stared at Owen. "I'm fine, don't worry about it", Owen replied. "Are you sure?", Niall asked. "I said I'm fine. So, drop it." Owen said and crossed his legs. Yup, fine. Skylar stared at Owen. She wanted to say something but held back. Haru and the others entered. Immediately Haru saw Owen, he went upstairs. Isa also went upstairs. "This is weird," Cameron said as he dropped the magazine he was reading. Skylar also went upstairs but she bumped into Isa. "I'm so sorry," Skylar said. She was a little scared. "You don't have to panic. Besides. Besides, I bumped into you." Isa said and Skylar sighed. "I didn't want to get on anyone's nerves." Skylar was still frightened by what happened with Owen. She certainly didn't want to step on anyone's toes. Suddenly, Nolan appeared and Isa turned white as a ghost. Nolan didn't see anything and just went to his room. Isa exhaled hardly. "Are you okay? you looked like you saw a ghost." "I'm fine," Isa said. "If you say so" Skylar was about to leave when Isa suddenly called her name. "I'm not okay," Isa said as she was about to cry. " Do you swim?", Skylar asked as she smiled softly. POOL As Skylar came out of the pool, Isa couldn't help but stare at her. She was mesmerizing. "I'm sorry I made you swim. It's something I do to calm myself down." "Oh, it's fine," Isa said as she came out of the pool. She took a towel and dried herself. "Now, tell me what's bothering you," Skylar said and Isa sighed. "It's Nolan." "What about him?" "I couldn't go a day without thinking about him. After my parents died and I came here, he was the one who took care of me. Dad was always working to pay for Mom's hospital bills and didn't even have time to take care of me. Nolan made me feel special. Being important to him was enough for me. To be honest, when he left, I was broken. I cried every day, waiting for him to come back, but now, I don't think I love him anymore. Don't get me wrong, I know he didn't abandon me and I don't reset him or anything. It's just that the feelings are not there anymore." Isa said and sighed. Cameron entered and smiled. "Hi", he said to Isa as he looked at Skylar. "Did you think I disappeared again?", Skylar asked as she glared at him. "Of course not. I just wanted to make sure you were okay. You know, we haven't talked much since what happened with Owen." "You guys need to calm down. Owen is like that. He's always like that, I think it's more of a defense mechanism or something. Aside from that, he's naturally mean. He's a devil, just ignore him. Besides, you'll get used to it." Isa said and Cameron sighed. " I just wanted to make sure you weren't bothered," Cameron said softly. "I'm fine. Besides, I've got you," Skylar said, and Cameron smiled. Skylar watched him as he left. "Mom never cared about us. She was always with her lovers. Even though we are the same age, he always looks after me. He's my Superman." Skylar said and smiled. "I know how that feels", Isa said and Skylar held her hands. "I get you. I do. It's probably because you guys just reunited. You've gotten used to his absence. I think you should spend more time with him and if you still feel the same way, you guys should probably break up." That's the only solution. I'm sure the feelings will come back to her. Isa hugged Skylar tightly. "Thank you so much, I've been worried out of my mind." Skylar smiled and hugged her back. Owen entered and ignored them. He bent down next to the pool and sighed. "Is he okay?", Skylar whispered. "I don't know" "Do you think he got his heart broken?", Skylar asked. "He doesn't have one", Isa replied and Owen glared daggers at them. Owen's Pov I wasn't a healthy child. I was born with chronic asthma which apparently no one in our family ever had. It started from me. When I was two years old, I developed meningitis and I spent two years in the hospital. The day I was to be discharged, dad sent my nanny to pick me up and on our way back home, we had an accident. It was a collision with an oncoming vehicle. I was back at the hospital again. I was diagnosed with traumatic brain injury, unfortunately my nanny didn't make it. She died on the spot. When I came to, I realised that the doctor's lips were moving. Like, he was talking to me but I couldn't hear a thing. I wanted to tell him that I couldn't hear what he was saying but when I opened my mouth to talk, nothing came out. The doctors were alarmed. Niall's Pov I'm Niall, Nolan and Norman's brother. There's not much to say about me. I spent most of my life in the hospital. I have osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease. It causes the tissues in the joints to break down all the time. I got it from my grandpa. My life sucks, I know. I can't walk long distance or hold objects for more than thirty seconds.
