CHAPTER 17Valerie sat on the plush sofa in the estate lobby with a blanket wrapped around her. Her hair was disheveled, and her body was stained with blood, she held on tight to the blanket, sniffling and hyperventilating. She watched as the police were swarming the house, the sheriff stood by the stairs with a notepad and a pen in his hands while he was talking to Alan. Valerie bit her lower lip whilst she rocked herself on the sofa. It has been almost two hours since Valerie was found passed out in the room where they kept Logan, and Monica hasn't been seen since then. Now Monica was the prime suspect, but Valerie did not believe that Monica would be the mastermind behind all those crimes. She was too foolish to be a criminal. Maybe that was what she wanted them to think. Perhaps Monica's act of appearing senseless was just a facade to divert suspicion away from herself.Valerie approached the sheriff and Alan, observing their serious expressions and hushed conversation. She c
CHAPTER 18Valerie and Alan got to the penthouse that was rented for Toby, and she couldn't close her mouth when she saw the horrible sight that was before them. Blood splattered on the bed, deep tear marks on his legs, arms, and stomach, and his head hung on the coat rack near his bed.Valerie wore a solemn look as she folded into Alan's arms, burying her head in his chest and sobbing loudly."Why would Monica do this to me?" She asked, balling her small fists and hitting them on Alan's shoulders. "Why does she keep punishing me? What have I done to her? I have been so nice to her, I treated everyone as I treated Fareeda. Why is she causing me so much pain Alan? I can't bear this anymore," she wailed, tears streaming down her face and catarrh trickling from her nostrils down to her chin. The sheriff entered the room and sighed."Mrs Carson, I am so sorry for your loss but Monica cannot be blamed for what she did not do," Hearing that made Valerie's blood boil, she took deep breat
CHAPTER 19"Nice to meet you Kai, and thank you for coming," she said genuinely as they walked back to the cemetery gates where Alan was waiting for her."You are welcome ma'am," "Oh stop, You can call me Valerie," she said pleasantly. He smiled at her before continuing with what he was saying."You are very kind," he said and she laughed half-heartedly."Many people don't think so, but I'm glad that you do," "Why wouldn't they? I have heard a lot about you, beautiful, sweet, and lovely. I guess they were not hearsays after all," he said, Valerie's cheeks went red from blushing very hard, and she let out a small chuckle."You flatter me, thank you very much," she said with a wide smile on her face. She noticed that they had already reached the cemetery gates, and Alan already turned the car around and was watching her- jealousy evident in his expression. Their eyes met and Alan looked away from her."You're welcome. I hope to see more of you," he said"As do I. I've got to go now…I
CHAPTER 20 Alan's motorbike stopped beside the lighthouse that he brought Valerie to weeks ago. Their hands were intertwined with each other as they walked towards the lighthouse. The sounds of waves crashing from a distance, and frogs croaking could be heard. "I have a surprise for you," he said smiling and showing his perfect set of teeth. They strolled for two minutes before they reached their destination. It was a cabin, in a lone, and deserted area.Alan took out the keys to the cabin and opened the door. The cabin looked regular yet cozy. The cabin had hand-carved wooden furniture, a large bed, and a stone fireplace. There were only two windows in the small cabin. "I remember you telling me the other day that you usually brought your ex here, I didn't understand why, but seeing this cabin made me rethink," Valerie said, flopping herself on the bed as Alan went to light the fireplace."Well…do you like the cabin?" He asked, sitting next to her, and positioning himself prope
CHAPTER 21 Valerie tossed and turned in bed as she felt the rays of sunlight hit her face. She stirred up from her sleep and saw that she was alone on the bed. She cleaned the corners of her eyes with the back of her arm, as she removed herself from the bed cover, and stepped to check the window whether he was outside the cabin. She let out an annoyed huff as she grabbed the bedcover and wrapped it around her chest before turning the doorknob and leaving the room. She took a few steps away from the cabin and towards the ocean, where she could hear the waves hitting the rocky shore."Alan!" She called, but there was no answer"Alan!" "Al- ahh," she screamed as she felt a hand on her waist. She turned around to see Alan naked. His whole body was wet and as the sun shone on his body, his body glistened and images of last night clouded her memory."Stop, don't do that ever! You literally scared me," she whined, pouting.Alan cupped her face and kissed her cute little nose."I didn't me
CHAPTER 22Kai quickly removed the panties from his mouth, stuffed them in his pants pockets, and hid his hands behind his back. He wore an embarrassed look on his face as he had already been caught."What are you doing here?" He asked, angrily."I just caught you sniffing that whore's panties, and you dare ask me what I am doing here?"Kai rolled his eyes and scoffed."What do you want Asha?""I followed you here," "Why?" He asked "Because your sister asked me to. Nice to see you again cousin," "What do you mean she asked you to? Why doesn't she trust me?""Because you have a thing for Valerie? Take a hint cousin!" She yelled."Well, who wouldn't? She's hot as fuck," he replied, dusting himself and getting up.Asha sighed and replied, "Even I think she's hot. I want in," "We could have a threesome!" Kai squealed, and Asha looked at him, disgust evident in her expression."Ew. Absolutely not, I'm going to have her on my own," she replied, folding her arms across her chest."And o
CHAPTER 23FLASHBACK CONTD…"I want to join you to take revenge on the Carsons," Asha said. The cloaked woman stared at her for a few seconds before bursting into laughter. Asha didn't waver as she had already prepared a thousand reasons why she should be in on their plan. "Oh really? You want to take revenge on people that haven't done anything to you, now I want you to give me reasons why I should trust you," Asha cleared her throat and pressed her lips together, "because we are cousins," she said, and the woman laughed, unconsciously slapping her hands on her lap."This must be a joke. Yes, I know that we are cousins, you don't need to remind me a million and one times of how much of a burden you were, and now you want me to trust you because we are cousins?" She mocked"Yes," Asha replied."So, what's your catch? What do you hope to gain after that?" She asked, folding her arms on her chest."I want to be welcomed back into the family. That's all I ask," The woman searched Asha
CHAPTER 24Valerie and Alan played in the water for what seemed like hours before they finally left the ocean to go back into the cabin because the air was becoming chilly. Valerie wrapped the sheets around her body like a butterfly in a cocoon and Alan followed closely behind her, his strong arms wrapped loosely around her waist. Alan flopped himself on the bed, and Valerie lay down on his chest, facing the ceiling. His hands found their way into her hair and massaged her scalp, she let out a low hum as she nuzzled into his touch. The distress in her heart didn't match the calm expression on her face. She was worried for herself, Alan, and her child. Five years ago, she wouldn't have thought that she could find anything close to happiness, but now after having a taste of the happiness that she so seemed to crave, her heart started to become so heavy as it was occupied with rhetorical questions that may be answered with time. What now? What happens when Alex finds out? Because no se
