Chapter 1: Luna's Ascension

Raven looked like the night sky with her raven black hair cascading down her back like the night and her white elegant dress that shines as the bright full moon. 

Raven looks tranquil like the moonlight, but she is not as calm as she appears to be. 

Raven felt nervous and restless as she thought of the life that awaits her. She stares outside her window, watching as the bright moon slowly appears out of the clouds, waiting for it to fully show itself to them.

She has been waiting for this night for a long time. She has been waiting for the full moon to come so she could finally ascend as the Luna of the Moonvalley Pack.

Raven ran her fingers through her wavy hair, her eyes gleaming with hope as different thoughts wandered inside her head. 

Once she becomes the Luna, the pack members would finally hate her no more. She would finally earn their respect and she would no longer have to put up with their insults.

As soon as she becomes the Luna, all the ugly and fake rumors about her would cease to exist. As their Luna who would be stupid to dare to defy her and go against her?

After she ascends to her Luna title, Raven will no longer have to be scared of anyone. She will no longer have to tolerate their insensitive remarks anymore.

She will become the most powerful woman to the pack, the person that is considered equal to the Alpha.

Even Celia, the beta’s daughter who is loved by the whole pack would be nothing against her. Raven could always use her power to command Celia’s wolf to submit to her for a beta will always be second to their Alpha and Luna. 

She will only have to speak one word and the whole Moonvalley Pack would bow down at her command. With her newfound power and new position, she would no longer be the Raven that she used to be before. 

She would no longer be the weak and average werewolf who stole everything from her bestfriend. She would be Luna Raven of the Moonvalley Pack, Alpha Lorcan’s one and only mate.

Celia will no longer have any claims on her mate anymore. It doesn’t matter if Lorcan loves Celia and that Celia loves him back. In the end, it was Raven and Lorcan who turned out to be mates.

Celia had no right to become the Luna and steal her mate from her even if the whole pack loves her and Raven’s mate loved her more than he loved his own mate. Raven is still Lorcan’s mate and the real Luna of the pack.

Now that Raven is about to accept her new role as the Luna, Celia can no longer cause problems between Raven and her mate anymore.

After Lorcan marks Raven and accept her as his Luna, Lorcan will no longer be able to reverse what has been done.

Lorcan will forever be stuck by Raven’s side. He can no longer have the chance to choose Celia as his mate and turn her into his Luna.

Raven turns around in surprise when she heard someone gasps behind her. “You look so beautiful!” Luna Savina told Raven with tears in her eyes.

Raven smiles shyly at the Luna upon seeing her reaction. Luna Savina looked like she was staring at her daughter when she was her mate’s mother instead.

Luna Savina walks towards Raven and tucks her hair behind her left ear. She smiles at her, “You are indeed a Luna of this pack. It was said that only a Luna can look good in that dress.”

Raven lowers her head to admire the dress. The dress is surely pretty and it does look good on her. However, she couldn’t help but wonder how it would look on Celia.

Celia is way prettier than Raven. If this dress looks good on her, then how much more on Celia? She would surely look perfect like a goddess in this dress. 

“This is a special dress, Raven. It was worn by all the previous Lunas of this pack before they were marked by their mates and ascended as the Luna. 

It was said that this dress was made from a strand of the moon and a spider’s silk. It has the blessing of the moon goddess’s power herself which is why only real Lunas can look good on them.

There is no one else who can look good on this dress other than you, Raven.” Raven looked up at Luna Savina in surprise. It’s like she had read her thoughts.

Luna Savina stares outside the window after making small arrangements on her dress. “Look, the full moon is about to start. We should go out now so that the ceremony can start and Lorcan can mark you right on time once the moon shows its light.”

Raven gulped in fear when she heard Luna Savina’s words. Suddenly, her palms turned sweaty as she grows anxious about facing the whole crowd waiting for her outside. 

Luna Savina notices this so she lifts up her chin to see her eye to eye. “Raven, everything is going to be fine. Everyone is going to be there and Alpha Axel and I would be there to protect you and support you.”

Raven felt grateful upon hearing her words. All her worries were washed away knowing that nothing can go wrong to her as long as Luna Savina and Alpha Axel are there to support and protect her. 

“Thank you… Thank you for everything,” Raven mumbled. If Luna Savina and Alpha Axel weren’t there for her, she wouldn’t know how she will be able to manage everything. 

Luna Savina smiles at her. “Now, we should go and meet everyone outside, Raven. Everyone is waiting for you there.”

Luna Savina offers her hand at Raven which she accepts. 

Hand in hand, Luna Savina walked Raven towards the pack grounds to start the ceremony. With a nervous heart, Raven pushed down all her fears and worries aside, taking her strength from the powerful woman beside her. 

As they neared the stage, Raven saw the large crowd standing and waiting for the ceremony to start, to accept the new Alpha and Luna of their pack. 

Luna Savina suddenly stops walking when they arrived at the stairs of the stage. She gives one last smile to Raven before slowly letting go of her hand.

Raven has to go up on the stage on her own and face the whole crowd so she could finally ascend as their new Luna. 

Alpha Axel arrives and walks by his mate’s side. He holds Luna Savina by her shoulders and gave Raven a small smile before pulling his mate away from her. 

Raven watched as Luna Savina leaves before mustering her courage and walking up the stage.

Raven immediately felt all their eyes on her as she walks up the stage adding more to her anxiety. As soon as the crowd saw her, whispers grew among the crowd obviously talking about her.

“Celia deserves to be the Luna.”

“Doesn’t she have any shame? If I was her I wouldn’t be so shameless to walk up that stage and accept the Luna title after everything that happened.”

“What a traitor. Celia used to look after her and she treated her like her own sister, but now she stole her boyfriend and the Luna title from her.” 

Raven heightened her hearing sense catching some of their opinions about her. She immediately regretted doing that when she heard that they had nothing good to say to her

Knowing the general perspective of the pack about her, Raven shouldn’t bother listening to their comments anyway. 

Raven stops when someone reached out a hand to her. She followed where the hand came from and stopped when her eyes landed on Lorcan. 

Lorcan had an impatient look on his face, waiting for Raven to take his hand. Raven who never received any kind gestures from him felt weird that he had offered her help. 

Raven places her hand in his, his hand is so warm against her cold and frail hands. 

Lorcan walks Raven to the middle of the stage and faced the crowd. The whole pack fell silent now that their soon to be Alpha and Luna are now finally standing in front of them.

The two faces each other now that they grabbed the whole crowd’s attention. Lorcan grabs Raven’s free hand. 

Raven looks up at him, only to be met by his hateful gaze. Raven’s wolf howled inside her of her when she saw how much her mate hated her. 

Raven knows that her mate would rather have Celia as his mate and Luna, but she just have to exist and ruin everything. 

Lorcan is about to mark her tonight and accept her as his Luna, yet he still only had Celia in his heart. 

Raven fought back the tears that threatened to pour out of her eyes. It wasn’t her fault that Lorcan and her became mates instead of Celia. 

Celia was kind to her. Raven always held her dearest to her heart after everything that Celia had done to her. She knows how much Celia and Lorcan loves each other and she never dreamed of destroying their relationship. 

Why does she had to be so unlucky to be paired to her best friend’s boyfriend?

“Lorcan Miles, do you accept to become the Alpha of the Moonvalley Pack?” Alpha Axel asks Lorcan, his son, in front of everybody.

“I accept.” Lorcan answers firmly like a true Alpha.

“Do you swear to serve and to protect our pack with all your life, only doing what is right and putting the interest of the pack before your own?”

“I Lorcan Miles, son of Axel Miles, swear to serve and protect the Moonvalley pack, putting its interest above all with all my life until the next Alpha in line comes ready to accept the role.”

As soon as he has finished, the moon acknowledges his words and everyone including me felt how Lorcan gained more strength and power and ascended as the Alpha of our Pack.

All the loyalty and respect that we felt for Alpha Axel were now transferred to Lorcan. 

All of the pack members lowered their heads to the ground to hail their new Alpha. “Long live Alpha Lorcan!” they all shouted in unison.

I watched how Lorcan faced the crowd with their heads on the ground.

“Stand up,” he commanded with his Alpha voice and everyone stood up simultaneously at his powerful command. 

Even I who was already standing up, felt like standing up again.

That is how powerful the Alpha command is. I wonder how powerful the Luna’s command will be. 

Lorcan and his father looked at each other as his father waited for him to proceed to the next step which is to finally accept me as his mate and Luna.

Having no choice, Lorcan faces me and with a hateful stare he spoke, “I Lorcan Miles accept Raven Stein as my mate and take thee as the Luna of Moonvalley Pack, to serve alongside of me until death do us part.”

I gulped in fear with how he easily spoke those sweet words with bitterness in his heart. 

“I accept Lorcan Miles as my mate and to serve alongside of him as his Luna and the Luna of the Moonvalley Pack,” I spoke in a sweet deep voice.

Lorcan steps forward after I had accepted him. I tilted my head to the side, baring my neck to him. Tingles went down my spine as I felt is warm breath on my exposed skin.

“I might accept you right now as my mate and Luna, but I will always have Celia inside my heart. I will never consider anyone as my mate and Luna except for her.” My heart dropped when he whispered those words in my ear.

Before I could even process what he said, he immediately sunk his teeth deep into my neck, sucking some of my blood. What he did was so painful that it brought pain to my eyes.

When my blood entered his system, I felt how our mate bond turned even more stronger and how my wolf gained power when the moon has finally acknowledged me as the new Luna of this Pack. 

After that Lorcan steps back and finally I am now finally marked as his mate, ascending me as the Luna of this pack. 

I felt how my wolf turned equally strong as Lorcan and how all the power and respect that Luna Savina hold was transferred into me. 

The whole pack who had no choice bowed their heads to me, the same way that they did to Lorcan. 

“Long live the Luna!” they all shouted in unison.

I couldn’t stop the smile that appeared on my lips when I saw how they all showed me their respects. “All Rise,” I commanded with my Luna voice.

My command turns out equally strong as the Alpha’s that no one was able to defy my command. 

“Somebody help!” A woman came running interrupting the ceremony and grabbing everyone’s attention.

“It was Celia, she committed suicide!”
