Never to see her cry again
“Manuel! Manuel!” A soft voice cried as she saw Manuel lying on the floor in his own pool of blood, coughing out some more blood to add to the much blood that already covered the floor.
“A-A-Ann!” Manuel managed to ay as he was struggling for his life.
“Don’t say anything, Manuel. Just stay calm for me, ok. You have to pull through this… you have to stay strong for us.” She added while whimpering. She struggled with him, carrying him up so they could go to the hospital…
***AT THE HOSPITAL***
Ann paced up and down as she awaited the doctor to come out of the emergency ward. Reporters stood outside the hospital as the security tried to hold them back. The evening was really a cold and terrible one.*(3 MONTHS EARLIER)*“Manuel, the drug effects are already wearing out. Soon the drugs will have no effects anymore.” Doctor Fillander said as he gave the report to young Manuel. Manuel’s emerald green eyes stared at the report that were in his hands and then smiled. His nicely combed purple hair fell as his head was bowed, looking at the paper in his hands. He immediately jerked up his head and stood up immediately.“Thanks for your time, doc.” He said and turned, making his way to the exit. His jeans and expensive GUCCI black boots made noise as he walked out of the hospital. As for the report, he had left it in the doctor’s office, since it was of no use to him.
“How did it go?” A young man of Manuel’s age asked as they walked out of the hospital.
“I wasn’t going there for a job interview; I just went there for a checkup. But the doctor said that I needed to stop using my drugs and hence he prescribed a new set. I should be healthier in a week’s time.” Manuel replied and then his friend just nodded, even though concern was the only thing in his mind at the moment.
“You worry too much, Richard.”
“Well I have to, don’t you think? The whole Han Empire is on your shoulders, Master Han Manuel.” Richard replied, stressing the master part and patted Manuel’s back.
“Let’s go home now. Your mom has been calling you ever since you left the house.” He added and Manuel just nodded.
He had left the house without letting his mom know where he was going to and he stayed longer than expected during his appointment with the doctor. So it was but normal for her to be worried sick. He needed to hurry home and then show his face to his mom who will be dead of worry.
Han Manuel is the only son of Leera Han and Albert Han who is of late. His mother after the unexpected death of his father had become paranoid over the fear of losing her only son too. Manu smiled in pain, recalling the day his father had died. He passed out that day due to the shock and by the time he woke up, his mom was crying profusely, praying to God that he woke up.
She was his everything from that very day and he made a decision, never to see her cry again, so he hid his medical report from his mom. Manuel lived a happy and cheerful life every time he was around his mom. He avoided gazing in his mom’s eyes because he knew that she was going to go crazy, seeing that his emerald green eyes were becoming paler.
Who would have thought that a rich guy like him was suffering from something that not even the top notch medical doctors he knew in the world could do anything? His condition according to him was a wasted issue. He had tried everything possible to get himself healthy all to no avail.
Like any other person that will find his or herself in his shoes, he tried but he failed. His disease was said to be incurable and so he had no other choice than to wait patiently for death’s call.
Thinking about his mom, whom he knew was going to freak out if he told her about his situation, he couldn’t help but worry. He was going to die anytime soon and so leaving his mom all alone and she was going to experience the traumatic experience from the day his father died. He felt pity for his mom and so decided to shower her with all the love he could have during the short period that he was going to be around.
He didn’t want her to be alone once he was gone. He wanted the memories to be her consolation in his absence.
“I still don’t get it. What is it exactly that you are suffering from?” Richard asked Manuel as they walked towards an isolated entrance. They didn’t want to be seen even though they knew that no troublemaker (Media) was there, they still had to avoid the risk of running into a crazy fan.
“I already told you, Richard, you worry too much. It was just a slight internal hemorrhage.” Manuel explained and it seems his explanation got the worst part of his friend, worry.
“Why will you be bleeding internally and not tell me?” Richard asked and Manuel just shook his head, thinking of the gravity of what he had just done.
“Sorry, buddy. I just couldn’t tell you back then. But I’m fine now. The wounds have been covered.” He replied but the way Richard looked at him, he knew that his friend might go slightly berserk again.
“You are not fine, Manuel. You are forbidden to leave the house for a week, until you get better. Leave the paper works to me.” Richard said, earning a smirk from Manuel. Manuel knew that when it came to brains, Richard was the man for it, he was very intelligent and the best PA anyone would ever ask for. Luckily for him, this PA was his and his alone.
Their friendship travels as far back as to their fathers. Richard’s dad had saved his dad and his mom, the day she was in labor. His father’s car had a wheel puncture and they were nowhere near the hospital. Mr. Han began to wonder why he didn’t just bring the doctor to his home but he didn’t regret his reasons as the thoughts of it made him shake his head in denial.
Leera was groaning and crying in pains. They seemed to be in the middle of nowhere, hoping for a miracle when a taxi drove past them and stopped. Richard’s dad stepped out and with so much concern for the couple; he took them in his car and drove them straight to the hospital.
His wife had given birth some days ago and she was still in the hospital, pending discharge because he never had enough money. He was working that night to gain enough money but seeing the couple in need of help, he decided to help them.
From that day, the two men were close and eventually, their sons picked up in the spirit and also became close. Richard was always first, while Manuel came second. As far as brains were concerned, Richard was always dominating. He became Manu’s right hand man because of the inseparable bond they shared.
So the two not just share a boss and worker relationship, but they are the best of friends.
Manuel’s smirk turned into a smile, “Nope!” His mouth found its way to say and Richard just glared at him and sighed like he already knew Manuel was going to respond this way.
“Oh and Richie, I will like to stop by the shopping mall. I want to get mom a gift.” Manuel asked and Richard nodded.
“Should I make orders for the mall to be cleared before you get there?” Richard asked and Manuel didn’t answer. He just put on his dark shades and increased his pace to where the car was parked. Richard saw this as a ‘yes’ and began making a call to the manager.
Who Is That Guy?“Ann, didn’t you get what you want yet?” Lea asked, scratching her head and fidgeting with her eyes.“Jeez, Lea. Everything here looks so perfect. I am trying to find something but I just can’t.” Ann’s eyes just looked around the numerous female wears. Her eyes scanned them with desire and she didn’t know which one to chose. Those baby eyes of hers were feasting, a feast of a lifetime. Also, she looked at Lea and saw the tiredness that was written over her face. Although she chuckled at the sight but yet, she was baffled at the fact that Lea’s long hours of sleep didn’t have an effect on her. She was certain that Lea was going to be the first to wake up and not her.Thinking about the previous night, she couldn’t help the loud thuds of her heartbeat. She smiled as her mind begun replaying
Manuel walked out of the mall with a smile on his face. He had removed the nose mask and was now walking freely to the secret doorway. Richard saw this and gasped for it was the first time that he was seeing his boss smile elsewhere aside from his mother’s presence and probably his own presence. He didn’t know what to say to his friend and just chuckled as he looked back at his friend who was busy walking to the car with a smile. He didn’t want to ruin the moment by asking questions so he just stood there at the door and ordered that the security team prepare since they were leaving. When Manuel wanted to make use of this particular shopping mall of his, he ordered that the mall be closed. He patiently waited at the back of the mall to enter once the mall was closed and then the head of the security team ushered him in, assuring him that everyone who was in the mall was out. Once he got in, he went s
Manuel sat in the car enjoying his ride back home and playing some of his favorite tunes when the radio of the car tuned to an unexpected destination, a channel he didn’t like at all. “Welcome to Refine radio station, 97.2 FM. We have our TV channel which is currently channel 79 on TV station. We are here once more with some exciting news for you. Headliners first, Han Manuel, the heir to Han Empire will be turning 23 in a few months, rumors has it that he will officially be the owner of Han Empire by then.” Manuel just sighed. Richard tried changing the channel but Manuel decided to listen to the news just a little. “The sole bridge linking Town K and Town N collapsed this morning with 2 casualties and two deads. Former Minister of State was arrested for embezzlement of state mone, part of which he already started using. He is under severe torture to explain where he hid the rest of the money, accor
Manuel took his mom to the room where she was now resting. He came down the stairs and met his best friend Richard making calls. His face was no longer as pale as before. He was very better seeing that his mom had become calm. For a woman who wasn’t suffering physically, she was suffering emotionally and it pained Manu even more. How will she survive when he dies? He looked at Richard and smiled. His best friend was always there with him and maybe Richard will be there for her! No! Richard will be there for her. He will be the Manu in her life. Richard loved Leera like his own mom and Manuel knew that there was no better person to entrust his family in, except his best friend Richard. That was another reason why he kept Richard busy as his assistant because once he died, Richard will be the one to take over and take care of his mother. If he had a choice, he would have decided against it but that was
Annabel Wen, I didn’t raise you to be such a rascal.” Ann’s mom scolded her. Lea mistakenly spoke about the fact that everyone left the mall but Ann hid under dresses. “Mom!” Ann cried as her mom kept pulling her ears. She was feeling pains but hehe, she was definitely going to punish Lea for spilling the beans. Lea knew fully well that she was in for trouble as Ann was being pulled by the ear. “Mom, it’s not just me. Lea was in the mall with me when all these happened. She didn’t even tell me that everyone was walking out of the mall.” 'Oh boy I’m dead.’ Lea made a mental note and before she knew it, Ann’s mom used her other hand to pull Lea’s ears. Lea started to cry like Ann as the mother kept pulling their ears. “You stubborn kids, we raised you better, Margaret and I and here you are, being stubborn and foolish. Did it even occur to you that there were security cameras around and they co
Time passed by quickly and it was 6 pm already. Ann was dressed in a sky blue trumpet, halter-neck gown. It went slightly below her hips, straight, and then flared down to her ankle. Instead of heels, she wore flats and tied her hair in two pigtails. She looked…“Horrible! You look horrible Annie.” Lea groaned angrily. Ann’s two pigtails made her look like a kid and the shoes… well the shoes were manageable. Lea on the other hand was putting on a purple body-hugging gown that barely crossed her knees and matched it with black heels that had purple stripes on them. She had bought the dress using Brent’s card and although she cried that she spent his money, she was happy that the dress enhanced her beauty. She didn’t tie the hair but rather left it loose but wavy, with a pin on the left. Her makeup wasn’t much since she didn’t want so much attention.“You look beautiful, Lea. Brent
Manual wore a black tuxedo with a blue bow tie, that made him look like a Prince from some enchanting kingdom. At that moment, life worries didn’t make sense to him anymore, he smiled as he looked at himself on the mirror. “I would have dyed this hair blue to match the outfit.” He mumbled as his hands ran through the soft purplish hair. “Wow, my baby boy looks dashing today. Are you going out with Ginny today. She said it’s been long since you last took her out on a date.” Manuel sighed as his mother kept ranting about the one person he didn’t want to discuss about. His mom liked Ginny, his high school classmate that clung on him like glue for over 5 years. Ginny and Manuel met in high school . She was a transferred student to his school and he must admit, she was even more gutsier than the girl he met at the mall. Ginny on the very first day she saw him, approached him, telling him she liked him. ***
“One more shot!”“One more shot!”“One more shot!”Ann and Lea, accompanied by a group of people who were at the party, cheering on Brent who was in a drinking competition against a certain guy they just met there at the party. Brent drank and drank till he could drink no more, then his opponent drank one last glass making him the winner by a glass. The crowd immediately dispersed after they cheered for the winning champion.“That wasn’t bad, dude. We should do this some other time.” The man that defeated him chuckled but Brent shrugged. There wasn’t going to be any next time, maybe if he returns to the country as a hopeless futureless man. Besides, he planned on returning to the country and making Ann his wife, immediately. Some guys came and stood beside the girls, admiring their bodies, especially Lea’s body, because of how her gown highl
