Chapter 7: My girl

"I don't want to see him right now."

Katherine hid behind Vincent's large back. She spoke softly to him.

Gilbert Grande and she both shared the same surname Grande. When they met face to face, wouldn’t he recognize her easily? He was no fool, even if the whole world saw her as Katherine Jeremy, he would always recognize his niece. Because after everything he'd done, he'd been looking for her all these years.

Currently, she only knew some basic information about the current Hologram Corporation. She couldn't appear in front of him right now. Surely his powerful influence could crush her hope as easily as a hand, no matter how talented Vincent Blythe was still somewhat afraid of him.

Vincent Blythe turned around and patted her shoulder, gently saying, "Okay, you go first. I'll keep an eye on him for you, don't let him face-to-face."

Recently, Gilbert Grande, Louis William, and the host of today's cocktail party - the chairman of Sonat Group just finished greeting each other. “Vincent, you just came back home?” Gilbert Grande saw Vincent, very smiling, and asked.

Katherine noticed them, and took a glass of wine to say hello, "Hi, can we talk for a bit?"

“I'm Katherine…” Katherine wondered if she should introduce herself further.

The other man showed no interest, gave her a nod, and continued to look toward the near stage where many people were chatting with Gilbert Grande and Louis William.

Katherine recognized this man's attitude. She just raised her eyebrow, laughing inwardly. Sure enough, in this business world full of brilliant talented people, they wouldn't have time to care about an unknown character.

“Is he still shining like that?” Katherine followed the gazes of these people and said absentmindedly.

"Who?"

"Louis."

“Do you know him?” The man was somewhat surprised, turned to her, and asked.

“We haven't seen each other for 7 years, I just returned to S city recently. I accompanied him to this party today, knowing no one."

Katherine spoke in a very sincere voice. She didn't lie, it was just that they understood the situation of their relationship depending on them.

“Oh, Miss Katherine. I'm Smith, and this guy's Jevan."

Suddenly, the attitude of the man standing next to her changed 180 degrees. Katherine shook hands to make friends, she smiled and clinked the wine glass, then took a refreshing gulp.

“Smith, do you know anything about Hologram Corporation and that man?” Katherine pointed to Gilbert Grande standing in the distance.

“Mr. Senator Gilbert? Of course, the whole city knows him already. He's one of two senators representing S city in parliament."

“He also possesses Hologram Corporation? Why I don’t know anything about this company's products?" Katherine wondered, kept asking questions.

The man named Jevan quickly replied, “The Hologram Corporation today is not what it was a few years ago. Since the change in business orientation, efficiency has decreased markedly. Although this corporation is still very powerful from the outside, it is only because of Gilbert Grande's reputation that it is taken seriously. My uncle is a shareholder of Hologram, he is planning to sell all his shares to invest elsewhere.”

Sold out shares? This was not a simple action. If the Hologram Corporation could continue to profit from Gilbert Grande, it would be not a bad idea to continue investing.

“If Hologram is not doing well, why do people continue to invest in it? Is it only thanks to Gilbert Grande?”

Jevan was silent for a moment, shaking his head, “I don't know the point. You also know how great the power of the Senate is. Gilbert Grande could become a senator with a permanent term representing our S city. Of course, he can't let his company go bankrupt, investing in Hologram is like knowing exactly the results."

Katherine knows that in the near future, Hologram will cooperate with Flying Star Corporation to inaugurate a 5-star resort on the Manville peninsula. Louis will really cooperate with the corporation in danger?

She didn't care about everything going on around the hall anymore. Katherine went out to the balcony. Actually, this place was not like a balcony, but more like a small courtyard. She sat down on the nearby white swing, looking up at the summer sky in S City filled with stars.

At this point, Katherine was really confused. With the little information she got, she didn't know how to infiltrate the Hologram and do the things she wanted to do. As Jevan said, in this S city, Gilbert Grande's political power was so strong that it could cover the sky. Businesses that want to run smoothly must rely on his help. The only person who dared to confront him was Louis William. But will he help her? She didn't even know how to talk to him.

Suddenly, a group of three women approached. Both were dressed in gorgeous evening gowns and expensive jewelry. Katherine looked up, curious in her heart. Are they looking for her?

“Are you the woman accompanying Louis?”

The woman at the front of this group named Celina Stewart asked her, her voice mixed with annoyance and arrogance.

Katherine slowly stood up, flashed her standard smile, and nodded, "Yes, it's me, Katherine Jeremy."

“I have never seen him with anyone to the parties before. How did you become successful? Sleep with him?"

As soon as they finished speaking, the other three women suddenly burst out laughing. Katherine retracted the smile on her face, narrowing her eyes slightly, and didn't answer.

“Why don't you answer? Who are you glaring at?” Celina Stewart growled angrily, holding her friend's glass of wine to throw it at Katherine.

This action happened so fast that Katherine did not have time to dodge. Originally, she closed her eyes tightly to wait for the alcohol to be splashed, 1 second, 2 seconds… In the third second, she slowly opened her eyes, and a large body hugged her in her lap. All the crimson wine soaked the back of his vest.

Louis William appeared in a flash, surprising these three women. Celina Stewart stood rooted to the ground, feeling stunned by the action she had just made. She called out in a low voice, “Louis… Louis… I didn't mean it.”

However, Louis didn't care that she was scared, just said loudly, "Sorry."

“Louis, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to throw wine on you."

“Not to apologize to me…”

Louis let go of Katherine, looked her up and down, then turned around. His eyes were cold as winter, his voice devoid of emotion, "I want you to apologize to my girl."
