"Umm... Lani, who is she?" Opal asked.
"Huh!... you mean the girl in sports uniform?" Lani asked after gaining her senses.
Opal nodded in response. Well, it wasn't hard to guess who can attract others' attention in an odd way.
"Well, she is Layla Chen. The vice-president of the student council."
'Hmm, vice-president. She is quite a... unique vice-president.' More or less, those three had the same kind of thought regarding her. If Lani would have been able to listen their thought, she would also nod her head heavily in agreement.
All of them with having something on their minds again started paying attention to the ongoing incident. This time, a different voice was heard.
"This has nothing to do with you. It's between me and my sister." The boy on the tree snarled. He was furious and frustrated that his plan was foiled even before he could execute them properly.
But right now in front of him was the dead-end of any scheme he could try to think of. He was well aware that she wouldn't let go. Their vice-president was never the type who let things slide.
"These are my sister's meaning it's all between us." he once again emphasized. Trying to give his unreasonable actions a reason.
"Stop wasting time. You think, me being here is a joke or some time pass. No cause I'm not interested in your family drama."
"Then you sho--"
"The sheets, you've stolen do not belong to your sister at all. Those are important sheets of the music club. Meaning, I have the right to involve as well as to punish you for your theft." Layla's patient was running thin. It was clear that he couldn't get away with this yet he was acting like a desperate fish for water. God knows just how much time will it take her to convince him.
If the revelation of his mistake was a shock for him then the next words of Layla shook him deeply. "If you want your sister's pocket money, you should've looked for the way that would not concern us in any way." She revealed a devilish look.
He was shocked. He glanced at his sister then look back at Layla with horror in his eyes. "H-how... di-did..."
"You do not need to know that." She had no plans of saying it with her mouth though he was asking the obvious.
Without wasting any more time, Layla started climbing the tree. Since he refused to come down then she would go up there.
Given her good skills in tree climbing and as well as the fact that the tree wasn't hard to climb, to begin with, she reached the branch he was standing on. It was really surprising for him that she actually did what she said. He got no time to react.
Onlookers were also surprised. Who does that?
"Now, give me those sheets in your hand."
"Don't come here." He warned Layla. Then, he turned to his sister. "Olivia stop crying and say something."
He was anxious. He knew that running here and climbing on a tree would only drag this disaster but now he does not even have the time to think why he did it.
It was true that his ultimate goal was Olivia's pocket money but he never thought that things would go haywire. He did not think that something like...
"Oliver, calm down and listen to me." Seeing his aghast expression, Layla tried to pacify him. She had just climbed the tree and he was already like this.
She was taking small steps towards him in fear that he might fall or ruin the sheets in his hands intentionally or unintentionally.
Meanwhile, Lani also had the same fear. She had no idea how many expressions she had changed during these few minutes. She wasn't sure what should she do. Many thoughts were assaulting her brain. Should she go and call someone for help? Or should she go herself and try to ease the situation when she has no idea how to do so.
Also, it won't be a good idea to ask them for help and it was not known what would they be thinking. She could not take the chance to screw the task she was assigned by Mr. Du.
Luckily, a boy was happened to be passing from there and she was able to stop him. After all, seeing someone roaming on the open ground was not easy.
On the other hand, those three had their own thoughts. In the beginning, Caleb had no thoughts of butting in. After all, it won't look good for a stranger to appear so noisy. But when he felt that the situation has turned serious he wanted to help but was stopped by Zou Haoran.
As for Zou Haoran, he was nothing more than a spectator of the show. He had no other thoughts of doing anything.
And, Opal... she was shocked, surprised, and speechless.
"Fine, I-- take them." Oliver extended his hand to give her the sheets she wanted. Sadly, his mind was too unfocused to see his surrounding.
*Thud*
He fell from the tree and Layla could only grab the sheets as she was also standing on a tree branch.
"OLIVER!!!!" Olivia's scream in her ear was proof that Oliver has fallen.
'Oh no, this is going to be troublesome.' She gulped at the thought of the problem that might arise in the near future.
"Olivia take him to the infirmary." Hearing this, Olivia nodded her heavy head and started to help her brother to get up. The student Lani asked for help also gave her a hand and they took Oliver to the infirmary.
'His skin is scraped. He is limping and crying in pain for once in while.' Layla was trying to figure his actual condition though she failed miserably.
With a heavy heart, she came down.
"Vice-prez!!!" Someone called her in a familiar voice and she was sure who it was.
"Are you alright?" Lani asked reaching near her.
Layla didn't answer but shoved the sheets in her hand. "Since, it's your club's matter take them and solve your issue." She was not in the mood of holding them any longer when they were like a hot potato in her hand.
'She just ran away... like this.' Lani looked in daze at the spot where she was standing just seconds ago.
"This... umm I'll--" Lani just remembered that she wasn't alone there.
"You should go and do your thing." Surprisingly, the one who spoke this time was none other than the silent Zou Haoran.
"Huh!" She felt that his voice is compatible with his face. Both can attract anyone. "...then let me share some important images. So, who's gonna receive them?"
Lani shared the campus map and timetables with Opal and bid farewell to them.
"Where are you coming from?" a boy asked Layla who was now dressed in the familiar white shirt and navy blue skirt, and the badge that reminds others of her position in the student council. He looked at her with his eyes hidden behind the silver specs he always wears. Those specs always showcase his features as a serious and smart guy which he is actually. Given his mature expression and handsome face, he could be the subject of the school romance fantasies of many girls. He was sitting in the student council room. His presence there was a clear indication that he is also a member of the council. On top of that, his shining badge was enough to let others know that "he is the president". "It was sports class plus sir called me. You also have the same schedule." She replied knowing where this conversation would head. After all, he's not the type who asks unnecessary questions. But, one thing she couldn't believe is that Lani informed him too quickly. "Y
"Don't play with your phone" Ryan reminded her. Her lips twitched. She was well aware of the rule. Although they are allowed to bring their mobile phones to school but are not allowed to use them openly. "By the way, ask Lani to print the list of events with their respective dates." "She's my secretary, not yours." 'What's wrong with this guy. Does he really need to flaunt that my best friend is his exclusive secretary? If it weren't him then she would be my EXCLUSIVE secretary.' "We need that list and you know this too" Anyway she didn't express her inner thoughts and decided to focus on the issue. After all, she can't change the fact that her and Lani's plan has been failed thanks to Ryan. "You should look for a secretary. You can't go too long like this. Just how seniors spared you?" He was wondering till this day just why no one bothered her to recruit another person to share her burden. "Yeah! yeah! I need to find a suitab
Fortunately, Layla was able to avoid the slap launched at her. "With all due respect Mrs. Park, I agree that it was my fault that he was hurt but--" Before she could finish her sentence, she was cut off in the middle. "Trying to give excuses when you have already admitted that you pushed my son." Mrs. Park was fuming. She was blinded by rage, if not because of Mr. Park who holding her back, she would have tried to hurt Layla again. "I didn't push him. And, I hope you won't falsely accuse me of a crime, I haven't committed." Layla decided to make herself clear hurriedly before Mrs. Park could accuse her again. "Mr. and Mrs. Park we can talk smoothly as you can see student Layla claimed that she didn't push him, maybe there is a misunderstanding somewhere. I don't think there is any need to act like this especially in front of a patient." Dr. Du tried to soothe the situation. He was trying to solve it in the best way without upsetting any of the
'A recording would...' Olivia and Oliver both paled. They could imagine their bad ending. "Why would Oliver try to steal something, we do not lack money to buy things." Mr. Park commented. He could not think of any reasons behind his son's said shameful actions. "From CCTV footage, we found out that the stuff, he took some sheets from Olivia's bag which was in the music room. He thought it was hers." Right now, Layla had no plans of stopping. She was going to tell them everything in detail. "The sheets, the whole music club had been searching were in his possession when I and Olivia went to him." She continued, "His actions have not only caused the trouble to the club, but to Olivia also. As for why he did so, it would be better for the siblings to tell you the reason." Every word entering their ear was like a shock to them. They were stupefied. The confidence with which she spoke was enough to tell them that their kids are the ones at fault.
"Mrs. Park, neither I called you nor I directed you to act like this, here at this hour of the day. So how would I know that something like this would happen, let alone arrange someone beforehand? Please, speak with logic." Layla took advantage of the situation and reprimanded Mrs. Park. Her words had no filter at all. After all, Mrs. Park was having trouble using her brain properly. "By the way, I forgot to mention but I'm a new student and I don't know any one of them since I haven't started attending classes officially. And, if you are unsatisfied with the decision, principal sir will make..." He paused for a second to take a good look at their faces. "...then feel free to call the police. I'm sure the law would be able to give an impartial decision." His voice was mellow and his smile was bright yet... This was enough to prick Mr. and Mrs. Park causing a visible change in their expressions. Calling the police was a huge matter when their own child wasn't
*bang* The door was slammed open harshly which made a loud sound by hitting the wall. "Don't release your frustration on the poor door," Lani said. Layla snorted in response. Lani lives in the Girls' hostel and Layla is her roommate, right now, whose distorted expression is enough to describe her foul mood. "Have something first. There are your snacks.” Lani pointed with her finger. “Anyways you don't look good with an empty stomach." Lani had later found out the reason why exactly her roommate hadn't come back from school. Thus, she decided to take care of some things beforehand. "Hmm. Lemme change. Thanks, Lani." In response, she just smiled. Having a good roommate i
In the middle of the night, a suppressed sobbing sound was resonating in the silent room. Although someone was trying hard to suppress their sobs yet the absence of noise in the room made it easier to discover. This woke Layla. She sat drowsily and reached out for her phone to switch on the flashlight. She roamed the light source in her hand and saw that a blanket mount was trembling on the bed. She turned on the lights in the room at the very instant. When lights flashed on Lani’s face, she pulled her blanket to block every ray disturbing her sleep but soon Layla’s worried voice calling Opal entered her ears. She snapped out from her dreams. "Umm…" Squinting her eyes, she analyzed the situation first then picked her mobile only to see it's 3:30 in the morning. There were still some hours left before they would start their day.
"You can't skip Sports class today." Layla said to the boy who was planning to skip the sports period again. Placing both of her hands on her hip, she didn’t stop her complaints. “Just because of you, I have to come up with a new excuse every time sir asks about you. Do you even have any idea how much he misses you.” Her last sentence was filled with sarcasm.Seeing her firm stance, Ryan sighed. He knew no matter what he couldn’t escape today. Like a tired person, he replied in defeat. “Fine, I’ll go to the ground.”“At least let him know you are fit and fine.” After finishing her piece of advice she left, trusting his words.…-Sports Ground-On the ground, students were engage
