In a well-furnished office, three teenagers were standing silently in front of a middle-aged man who was sitting on the chair with his hands resting on the table.
On the table, a nameplate was placed clearly telling his name and designation. “Dr. Edward Du The principal” was written on it.
“Your respective classes have been assigned. You can join the class by tomorrow. For now, I will arrange someone to show you all, around the school.” Dr. Du said to them. They were the newly transferred students. And, they would be joining the 11th Grade in the current month, July.
He picked the handset of the telephone and pressed some buttons on the dial pad.
*ring* *ring*
After two rings, the call was picked and a melodious voice of a girl was heard from the other end. “Hello.”
“Come to the principal’s office right now.”
*toot*
He cut the call as soon as its purpose was served.
“Huh!? What was that!?” The girl was bewildered. “Judging from his tone, it shouldn’t be any bad news,” she murmured to herself.
“Looks like I’m the only one who can go right now.” she sighed. “Just, why do I have to be alone in this room at this moment?” She muttered while roaming her eyes in the room which only had traces of human presence but no one except her at the moment.
This was not the first time she met the principal. Yet every time she met him she couldn’t help but feel fear due to the fact that ‘he is the principal of the school.’ She knew that Dr. Du was not a scary person despite the fact that he could not be taken lightly.
*sigh*
‘Here the music sheets are missing which is already enough for me to worry. And, now he is calling someone god knows what for and he didn’t bother to specify a thing. I just hope it won’t turn out to be another headache for me.’ Her mind was singing complaints as her feet were taking her to the principal’s office.
*knock**knock*
“May I come in sir.”
“Come in.”
After receiving the permission, she entered.
Soon a slender girl came into view. She was wearing the school uniform. Her waist-long hair was braided. Her face was small and pretty. She had an innocent charm which was reflected by her smile that could lift anyone’s mood like a blooming flower.
There was an additional thing on her. That was the ‘Secretary’ badge she was wearing on her chest.
“Good morning, sir.” She greeted the authoritative person sitting there.
“Good morning, Secretary Lani.” He replied back with a fatherly smile. It wasn't surprising that the principal knew her name as she was, after all, secretary of the president from the student council.
‘He’s not angry or anything bad rather... he seems to be kind of... happy.’ She was analyzing his mood when she heard him say.
“Secretary Lani, these are new students of our school. Please show them around the campus.”
“Certainly sir.” While maintaining her perfect smile, she turned to the other three people in the room. Now she was facing them, she found them eye candies. Though she could not check them out, at least not here, but… ‘Giving them a tour of campus won't be a bad thing. Anyway, they are also looking for the sheets. So I can do this task without any tension. Right.’
After coming out of the principal’s office, Lani introduced herself. “Hello, my name is Lani Lei. I’m the president's secretary.”
“Hello, my name is Opal Jin.” The girl who introduced herself had smooth skin free from any traces of harshness. She looked delicate. She was smiling. Her smile was free from any fakery.
“Hello, my name is Caleb Lin.” He introduced himself with a gentlemanly smile on his face. He was handsome and appeared to be kind as he was emitting a soothing aura.
“...And he is called Zou Haoran.” Caleb introduced the boy standing beside him. He did so without any pressure or embarrassment as if it was natural for him.
Lani looked at Zou Haoran to scan him with her eyes. But, when she laid her eyes on his face she couldn’t take them off. He was heavenly handsome. He had a cold air around him telling others not to disturb him yet his face could make them stuck to him. It was the moment Lani found her vocabulary short of words as she couldn’t describe more.
‘Can’t he introduce himself?’ With this thought in her mind, she moved her neck which started to hurt due to his height.
‘Ah, rich people and their strange habits. Maybe even his words are expensive.’ She guessed that they were rich based on a few clues she managed to find like principal sir wouldn’t have called someone just to give them a tour. Plus, she herself was somewhat a shopping maniac, thus she could tell that from head to toe their appearances were screaming money.
“So, where would you all like to go first?” She asked them, flashing her perfect smile.
“How about we should visit the outdoors first.” Caleb suggested.
“Cool, let’s do this.” They all started to follow her as she led them to the sports ground.
While walking she did not forget to advertise the sports available in the school and of course, ask them a few things.
“You know our sports teacher is friendly natured. Oh, by the way, which sports do you guys like?” Lani loved to talk and a lot at that. But, this time she had another motive. She wanted Zou Haoran to speak; she wanted to find out his voice. And, she had no plans of giving up so soon.
Opal decided to answer her first, “For me… you see, I’m not ve--”
“Give me those sheets in your hand. Climbing up can’t help you to cover your theft.” A sudden stern voice of a girl interrupted her. But that voice didn’t stop there. “Either you come down or I’ll come up there.”
All four looked in the direction of the source of that voice. They saw not far from them, two girls were standing under a tree, looking up to the boy… on the tree.
One of them was in school uniform, sobbing while standing behind. And, the other girl was wearing a sports tee and track pants, that was the sports uniform. She had an irritating expression with her hands folded in front of her chest. Even from that distance, they could tell that she was a remarkable beauty.
Then, they looked at the boy, only to see the striking similarity between his face and that sobbing girl’s face. Without a doubt, they were siblings or maybe twins.
This drama piqued the interest of everyone including the indifferent Zou Haoran. After all, you won’t see someone threatening others like that.
He wanted to know her identity but he was sure that his question would be answered without him asking.
“So it was him.” Lani’s angered voice piqued their curiosity further.
“Are you al--”
Before Opal could finish her words, she was interrupted again. “Hurry up. You are wasting all of us with your absurd solution.”
“Umm... Lani, who is she?” Opal asked.
"Umm... Lani, who is she?" Opal asked. "Huh!... you mean the girl in sports uniform?" Lani asked after gaining her senses. Opal nodded in response. Well, it wasn't hard to guess who can attract others' attention in an odd way. "Well, she is Layla Chen. The vice-president of the student council." 'Hmm, vice-president. She is quite a... unique vice-president.' More or less, those three had the same kind of thought regarding her. If Lani would have been able to listen their thought, she would also nod her head heavily in agreement. All of them with having something on their minds again started paying attention to the ongoing incident. This time, a different voice was heard. "This has nothing to do with you. It's between me and my sister." The boy on the tree snarled. He was furious and frustrated that his plan was foiled even before he could execute them properly. But right now in front of him was the dead-end of any scheme he cou
"Where are you coming from?" a boy asked Layla who was now dressed in the familiar white shirt and navy blue skirt, and the badge that reminds others of her position in the student council. He looked at her with his eyes hidden behind the silver specs he always wears. Those specs always showcase his features as a serious and smart guy which he is actually. Given his mature expression and handsome face, he could be the subject of the school romance fantasies of many girls. He was sitting in the student council room. His presence there was a clear indication that he is also a member of the council. On top of that, his shining badge was enough to let others know that "he is the president". "It was sports class plus sir called me. You also have the same schedule." She replied knowing where this conversation would head. After all, he's not the type who asks unnecessary questions. But, one thing she couldn't believe is that Lani informed him too quickly. "Y
"Don't play with your phone" Ryan reminded her. Her lips twitched. She was well aware of the rule. Although they are allowed to bring their mobile phones to school but are not allowed to use them openly. "By the way, ask Lani to print the list of events with their respective dates." "She's my secretary, not yours." 'What's wrong with this guy. Does he really need to flaunt that my best friend is his exclusive secretary? If it weren't him then she would be my EXCLUSIVE secretary.' "We need that list and you know this too" Anyway she didn't express her inner thoughts and decided to focus on the issue. After all, she can't change the fact that her and Lani's plan has been failed thanks to Ryan. "You should look for a secretary. You can't go too long like this. Just how seniors spared you?" He was wondering till this day just why no one bothered her to recruit another person to share her burden. "Yeah! yeah! I need to find a suitab
Fortunately, Layla was able to avoid the slap launched at her. "With all due respect Mrs. Park, I agree that it was my fault that he was hurt but--" Before she could finish her sentence, she was cut off in the middle. "Trying to give excuses when you have already admitted that you pushed my son." Mrs. Park was fuming. She was blinded by rage, if not because of Mr. Park who holding her back, she would have tried to hurt Layla again. "I didn't push him. And, I hope you won't falsely accuse me of a crime, I haven't committed." Layla decided to make herself clear hurriedly before Mrs. Park could accuse her again. "Mr. and Mrs. Park we can talk smoothly as you can see student Layla claimed that she didn't push him, maybe there is a misunderstanding somewhere. I don't think there is any need to act like this especially in front of a patient." Dr. Du tried to soothe the situation. He was trying to solve it in the best way without upsetting any of the
'A recording would...' Olivia and Oliver both paled. They could imagine their bad ending. "Why would Oliver try to steal something, we do not lack money to buy things." Mr. Park commented. He could not think of any reasons behind his son's said shameful actions. "From CCTV footage, we found out that the stuff, he took some sheets from Olivia's bag which was in the music room. He thought it was hers." Right now, Layla had no plans of stopping. She was going to tell them everything in detail. "The sheets, the whole music club had been searching were in his possession when I and Olivia went to him." She continued, "His actions have not only caused the trouble to the club, but to Olivia also. As for why he did so, it would be better for the siblings to tell you the reason." Every word entering their ear was like a shock to them. They were stupefied. The confidence with which she spoke was enough to tell them that their kids are the ones at fault.
"Mrs. Park, neither I called you nor I directed you to act like this, here at this hour of the day. So how would I know that something like this would happen, let alone arrange someone beforehand? Please, speak with logic." Layla took advantage of the situation and reprimanded Mrs. Park. Her words had no filter at all. After all, Mrs. Park was having trouble using her brain properly. "By the way, I forgot to mention but I'm a new student and I don't know any one of them since I haven't started attending classes officially. And, if you are unsatisfied with the decision, principal sir will make..." He paused for a second to take a good look at their faces. "...then feel free to call the police. I'm sure the law would be able to give an impartial decision." His voice was mellow and his smile was bright yet... This was enough to prick Mr. and Mrs. Park causing a visible change in their expressions. Calling the police was a huge matter when their own child wasn't
*bang* The door was slammed open harshly which made a loud sound by hitting the wall. "Don't release your frustration on the poor door," Lani said. Layla snorted in response. Lani lives in the Girls' hostel and Layla is her roommate, right now, whose distorted expression is enough to describe her foul mood. "Have something first. There are your snacks.” Lani pointed with her finger. “Anyways you don't look good with an empty stomach." Lani had later found out the reason why exactly her roommate hadn't come back from school. Thus, she decided to take care of some things beforehand. "Hmm. Lemme change. Thanks, Lani." In response, she just smiled. Having a good roommate i
In the middle of the night, a suppressed sobbing sound was resonating in the silent room. Although someone was trying hard to suppress their sobs yet the absence of noise in the room made it easier to discover. This woke Layla. She sat drowsily and reached out for her phone to switch on the flashlight. She roamed the light source in her hand and saw that a blanket mount was trembling on the bed. She turned on the lights in the room at the very instant. When lights flashed on Lani’s face, she pulled her blanket to block every ray disturbing her sleep but soon Layla’s worried voice calling Opal entered her ears. She snapped out from her dreams. "Umm…" Squinting her eyes, she analyzed the situation first then picked her mobile only to see it's 3:30 in the morning. There were still some hours left before they would start their day.
