"Where are you coming from?" a boy asked Layla who was now dressed in the familiar white shirt and navy blue skirt, and the badge that reminds others of her position in the student council.
He looked at her with his eyes hidden behind the silver specs he always wears. Those specs always showcase his features as a serious and smart guy which he is actually. Given his mature expression and handsome face, he could be the subject of the school romance fantasies of many girls.
He was sitting in the student council room. His presence there was a clear indication that he is also a member of the council. On top of that, his shining badge was enough to let others know that "he is the president".
"It was sports class plus sir called me. You also have the same schedule." She replied knowing where this conversation would head. After all, he's not the type who asks unnecessary questions. But, one thing she couldn't believe is that Lani informed him too quickly.
"You need to apologize, Layla. If any of the siblings were to complain to their parents you are going to be in trouble. Plus an injured person does not heal overnight."
"I know." Her voice was soft. She knew that she was responsible for what happened indirectly if not directly. But it was not easy for her to say sorry. She lacked the guts to say sorry.
"Even though we have witnesses, but the problem is, one of them is a part of the student council and the other three are new students. It's hard to tell whether they would help or not."
Hearing his words, Layla paused a moment. She remembered that she felt were other people's presence alongside Lani. Too bad she wasn't in the mood of seeing even their faces.
"Why is that?" She was curious about what she has actually missed.
"They are rich. According to Lani, the principal was paying extra attention to them."
"What!? That..."
"Don't fret, as the president of the student council. I'll come with you." He assured her.
"Thank you, Ryan."
"Call me president."
"As you command Little King" She joked. Layla sometimes teases Ryan with a nickname simply because it was the meaning of his name and she had the privilege to talk to him like this.
He sighed in defeat. "Let's go." After all, it's no fun to argue especially with Layla.
They both left for the infirmary hoping for everything to be fine. It was important to make themselves clear. After all, having power also means having more responsibilities and expectations. Even their small mistakes could give them a fatal blow.
...
Layla was in the canteen collecting her meal during lunch break.
Students were allowed to fill their plates with the amount they think they could consume. Thus, allowing them to eat as much as they want. They can also buy some drinks or snacks in the canteen.
Layla looked for the table she wanted to occupy and went to sit there. That table only had space for two because it was in the corner, almost in a cramped space. The others were either for four or six people to occupy. Thus, she came early in order to grab a preferable place.
She sat at the table leaving the other spot empty for her friend.
"Hey" Lani greeted.
"Hmm, Sit." She answered lazily and uninterestingly.
"Are you... tired." Her voice laced with worry.
"My mood is off."
"Sorry..." Lani's voice was meek. She should've gone to search for sheets by herself. Now, she was feeling sorry for leaving them behind.
"Not your fault. Sooner or later, we might be dealing with such incidents." Layla comforted her despite her foul mood. "By the way, what were you doing there at that time. It was quite... a coincidence."
"I was showing around."
"To the new students?"
"Yup."
"So...?" She wanted to hear more about them.
"Well... One is a girl and two are boys. All in 11th grade. Although I couldn't ask their specific sections."
"Oh. Anything else about them."
Lani's eyes sparkled as she was informing her about the most important thing she noticed regarding them, "They all are eye candy."
Layla rolled her eyes in response. Her face was saying 'Can't you tell me something useful.'
"And, rich too. You know principal sir called especially so that anyone of us could give them a tour."
"Sounds troublesome. I hope they won't be a problem for us in the future."
"Oh yeah, you went to the infirmary with the president. What happened?" This time Lani inquired.
"Ugh... He was sleeping. Olivia also wasn't there. And, the doctor... Ryan talked to him, I didn't ask. Anyways, we'll go again just after all the classes end. It's... just that I... don't have the guts to say sorry. Ughh, it's frustrating." She felt like pulling her hair.
"You want me to do anything." Lani offered her help.
"Just finish your food quickly. Not much time left for the break to over."
Both the girls finished their food quickly to go to their respective classes. Although both were in the same grade yet they had different classes. That's why they used to come to the canteen as soon as possible. After all, they can't chat this freely in the council room.
...It was the last period of their class and they both decided to skip it. Right now, they were sitting in the student council room."Ryan, can you help me with this problem later," Layla asked. It was a well-known fact that Ryan has exceptional talent in maths.
"Okay." He had no issue in solving one or more problems.
Ryan Bai is someone who is known for his talent in maths but not many knew about his computer skills which he uses to his advantage.
Whereas Layla Chen, the female devil, is famous for her notorious ways to solve problems. Though she is also the topper of her school. There are many reasons for others to know or hear about her.
And, Lani Lei, the sweet girl who is the secretary of Ryan is someone who dreams to become a singer. That's why one of the reasons she became a secretary is that she wanted to keep it as a backup lest she couldn't go to her dream college.
It was her and Layla's plan so that she could become vice-president's secretary but who knew Ryan who beat them in this arrangement.
Layla took out her phone and drafted a message 'Can you ask your leader for help if it might need?' She sent it to Lani.
She was preparing for the worse as much as she could.
"Don't play with your phone" Ryan reminded her. Her lips twitched. She was well aware of the rule. Although they are allowed to bring their mobile phones to school but are not allowed to use them openly. "By the way, ask Lani to print the list of events with their respective dates." "She's my secretary, not yours." 'What's wrong with this guy. Does he really need to flaunt that my best friend is his exclusive secretary? If it weren't him then she would be my EXCLUSIVE secretary.' "We need that list and you know this too" Anyway she didn't express her inner thoughts and decided to focus on the issue. After all, she can't change the fact that her and Lani's plan has been failed thanks to Ryan. "You should look for a secretary. You can't go too long like this. Just how seniors spared you?" He was wondering till this day just why no one bothered her to recruit another person to share her burden. "Yeah! yeah! I need to find a suitab
Fortunately, Layla was able to avoid the slap launched at her. "With all due respect Mrs. Park, I agree that it was my fault that he was hurt but--" Before she could finish her sentence, she was cut off in the middle. "Trying to give excuses when you have already admitted that you pushed my son." Mrs. Park was fuming. She was blinded by rage, if not because of Mr. Park who holding her back, she would have tried to hurt Layla again. "I didn't push him. And, I hope you won't falsely accuse me of a crime, I haven't committed." Layla decided to make herself clear hurriedly before Mrs. Park could accuse her again. "Mr. and Mrs. Park we can talk smoothly as you can see student Layla claimed that she didn't push him, maybe there is a misunderstanding somewhere. I don't think there is any need to act like this especially in front of a patient." Dr. Du tried to soothe the situation. He was trying to solve it in the best way without upsetting any of the
'A recording would...' Olivia and Oliver both paled. They could imagine their bad ending. "Why would Oliver try to steal something, we do not lack money to buy things." Mr. Park commented. He could not think of any reasons behind his son's said shameful actions. "From CCTV footage, we found out that the stuff, he took some sheets from Olivia's bag which was in the music room. He thought it was hers." Right now, Layla had no plans of stopping. She was going to tell them everything in detail. "The sheets, the whole music club had been searching were in his possession when I and Olivia went to him." She continued, "His actions have not only caused the trouble to the club, but to Olivia also. As for why he did so, it would be better for the siblings to tell you the reason." Every word entering their ear was like a shock to them. They were stupefied. The confidence with which she spoke was enough to tell them that their kids are the ones at fault.
"Mrs. Park, neither I called you nor I directed you to act like this, here at this hour of the day. So how would I know that something like this would happen, let alone arrange someone beforehand? Please, speak with logic." Layla took advantage of the situation and reprimanded Mrs. Park. Her words had no filter at all. After all, Mrs. Park was having trouble using her brain properly. "By the way, I forgot to mention but I'm a new student and I don't know any one of them since I haven't started attending classes officially. And, if you are unsatisfied with the decision, principal sir will make..." He paused for a second to take a good look at their faces. "...then feel free to call the police. I'm sure the law would be able to give an impartial decision." His voice was mellow and his smile was bright yet... This was enough to prick Mr. and Mrs. Park causing a visible change in their expressions. Calling the police was a huge matter when their own child wasn't
*bang* The door was slammed open harshly which made a loud sound by hitting the wall. "Don't release your frustration on the poor door," Lani said. Layla snorted in response. Lani lives in the Girls' hostel and Layla is her roommate, right now, whose distorted expression is enough to describe her foul mood. "Have something first. There are your snacks.” Lani pointed with her finger. “Anyways you don't look good with an empty stomach." Lani had later found out the reason why exactly her roommate hadn't come back from school. Thus, she decided to take care of some things beforehand. "Hmm. Lemme change. Thanks, Lani." In response, she just smiled. Having a good roommate i
In the middle of the night, a suppressed sobbing sound was resonating in the silent room. Although someone was trying hard to suppress their sobs yet the absence of noise in the room made it easier to discover. This woke Layla. She sat drowsily and reached out for her phone to switch on the flashlight. She roamed the light source in her hand and saw that a blanket mount was trembling on the bed. She turned on the lights in the room at the very instant. When lights flashed on Lani’s face, she pulled her blanket to block every ray disturbing her sleep but soon Layla’s worried voice calling Opal entered her ears. She snapped out from her dreams. "Umm…" Squinting her eyes, she analyzed the situation first then picked her mobile only to see it's 3:30 in the morning. There were still some hours left before they would start their day.
"You can't skip Sports class today." Layla said to the boy who was planning to skip the sports period again. Placing both of her hands on her hip, she didn’t stop her complaints. “Just because of you, I have to come up with a new excuse every time sir asks about you. Do you even have any idea how much he misses you.” Her last sentence was filled with sarcasm.Seeing her firm stance, Ryan sighed. He knew no matter what he couldn’t escape today. Like a tired person, he replied in defeat. “Fine, I’ll go to the ground.”“At least let him know you are fit and fine.” After finishing her piece of advice she left, trusting his words.…-Sports Ground-On the ground, students were engage
-The Canteen-"Let's sit there." Lani suggested, counting the number of people going to dine together in her head. It was supposed to be five people meeting but an uninvited guest, Zou Haoran joined them too. Well, his presence wasn’t that unexpected when they actually took his only friends in the school.Without wasting any time those four sat down. Zou Haoran and Opal sat on either side of Caleb. While Lani chose to sit in front of Zou Haoran leaving two seats empty. After some time, Layla and Ryan joined them. "Sorry, we are a little late."They run their eyes across the table to scan those three in front of them. Only Zou Haoran seemed to be a little out of place. Everyone was having a canteen meal except him. His food was brought by his driver, prepar
