Chapter 3 Take Back What's Mine

I was determined to make their lives as miserable as mine.

There were surveillance cameras around the house, and it had a clear recording of Anthony pushing me and causing my miscarriage.

When Anthony was dragged away by the police in front of the entire staff during a company meeting, his face was grim.

Anthony being arrested still didn't satisfy Alicia. She told me, "That scumbag deserves to be taught a hard lesson. Don't worry, I won't let him off."

I raised my eyebrows and said, "I'll make sure he regrets it."

After a week in the hospital, I returned to work. Alicia couldn't stop me, so she found a housekeeper for me. I didn't refuse and moved to another house. Then, I listed the previous house for sale through an agent.

After that, I filed for divorce. Though Anthony tried to explain away the situation as just a marital disagreement and was released, his arrest record was enough evidence for my case.

When Anthony found out I was suing for divorce, he called me in a fit of anger and embarrassment. "That's enough, Shirley!"

"No, it's not. My mom died because she overheard Yunice answering your call while you were cooking for her. You're a murderer, Anthony! Either we get a divorce, or I'll make sure you end up in jail! Domestic abuse, cheating… I have more dirt on you than you thought! I'm giving you one day. Either we divorce, or we go down together!"

I had no patience left for him.

Before hanging up the call, Anthony deliberately angered me. "You've been cheating on me, yet you still have the nerve to file for divorce? Shirley, does your mom know about all the things you've done? I'm going to ask her how she raised you!"

I immediately sent him a location and said, "Go ahead. Don't forget to take some flowers with you." Then, I blocked his number.

By the time Brian came to pick me up, I had just calmed myself down. My mother's company was her life's work. When she got sick, the company's management suffered, and some people began scheming. Although Brian had dealt with some of them, there were still some troublemakers. Thus, I was going to handle the rest of them today.

As soon as we showed up at the company, Anthony arrived with Yunice. When he saw Brian, his face twisted in fury. "Is this why you want a divorce, Shirley? You had planned this all along, didn't you? Does your mom know about this?"

"What's the problem? Isn't a divorce exactly what you wanted?" I couldn't help but laugh at his outburst. "If we don't get a divorce, how is Yunice going to secure her position? Or is it that you've never planned to be serious with her?"

Anthony fumed in anger, while Yunice had a grim expression.

I continued, "I'm here on business today. If you're so concerned about my mother, I've already sent you the address. Why haven't you visited her yet? Are you scared?"

"Stop messing with me! I've already had people look into it. Just you wait. I've brought reporters with me today!"

I raised an eyebrow, thinking that this was perfect since I had more material to work with.

In the meeting room, it was already crowded with people.

"Shirley, your mother has passed away. The company can't be left without leadership," the director my mother had trusted most spoke up, clearly intending to challenge me.

I nodded and calmly took out the contract I had signed with Alicia. "I've been busy handling my mother's funeral, but I haven't forgotten my duties. Here's the contract I signed with Coolev Technology for 3 billion." Then, I tossed the contract on the table.

They couldn't believe what they were hearing and quickly passed the contract around to verify my words.

Anthony stood by the doorway, feeling dumbstruck. After some time, he said, "What did you say? Your mother is dead?"

I stared coldly at him and replied, "I told you from the start, but you didn't believe me."

As my words fell, everyone turned to look at him.

"Ms. Falkins had passed away, yet you didn't even show up. Now, are you trying to claim that you know nothing about it? Who are you trying to fool?"

"You ungrateful man! Do you think you would be where you are today if it weren't for Ms. Falkins?"

Their attitudes changed immediately, and they sided with me when they saw the contract.

Anthony's face turned pale. He didn't know what to say. After a long pause, he collapsed to the ground with a thud.

"Anthony!" Yunice rushed to him, panicking.

I stood there and looked down at him, feeling satisfaction wash over me since Anthony got what he deserved.
