76. Name

Atalanta’s pov

My old phone had been at Ardale when everything happened, and I guess every message I had sent had been examined. I only communicated home by calling, so it probably wasn't very helpful.

But once I arrived here, I got a new phone since I couldn’t mindlink. It only had Raiden’s number and the packhouse number, just in case.

Part of me wanted to reach out to Suzie, but I wasn’t sure if it was safe. She knew I was here, so if she wanted to speak to me, she would, right?

‘You’re scared.’

I am. She has every right to hate me, but to actually receive that hate would be heartbreaking. Now I’m in a limbo of not knowing how she would respond. I can pretend we're still friends—just friends who don't speak.

I could just find out what Artemis meant by looking on my phone; it wasn’t something I was used to, but I had learned how to use a cellphone at Ardale, and I knew how to search online.

But Artemis wanted me to be at the library.

‘I like the smell of books.’

It was weird hearing
Naomi D.

I like the idea of names having a meaning. same thing with star signs or birth stones. but I don't think you should base your personality around it, but rather choose which part of the different discriptions you think fit. Like me. I'm pisces. they are creative, empathic. But also bad at boundaries and can have anxiety and mood swings. all true for me. My name Naomi means gentle, which I can be. It's fun to see if it fits your personality, though. But it shouldn't bring you shame like it does Atalanta with her name. i think it's important she sees that a name is just a name. But also that it can be powerful to own that name. O another chapter is coming up. I'll stop babbling lol and post it
