Chapter 1

Everyone in the upper crust knew Isobel Somner was Ethan Goode's doormat. And so, when she knocked on Theodore Stone's door in nothing but a sexy strapped dress, he raised an eyebrow curiously. "Aren't you worried about Ethan hearing about this?"

She snorted and hooked an arm around his neck, kissing him hard. She was so enthusiastic that it was almost outrageous. There was a faint smell of tobacco in his mouth; it was pretty nice.

Everyone knew Theodore was a seasoned player. Isobel had chosen him partly because his background and influence far surpassed Ethan's—it'd be enough to give the latter an aneurysm.

The other reason was that Theodore never kept the same woman for over a month. She could easily use him before kicking him to the curb!

Isobel was confident in her looks and figure. So, she'd immediately come to Theodore after learning about Ethan's involvement with her stepsister, Heather Somner.

Ethan kept bragging about how obsessed Isobel was with him, didn't he? Well, she would show everyone that she wouldn't die without him!

Theodore was only taken aback for a second. Then, he turned the tables and wrapped an arm around her slender waist, pulling her into the room.

He pinned her to the door after shutting it and smirked devilishly. "Don't regret this."

"Stop being such a pussyfoot—" He sealed her lips before she could get any further. Then, he threw her onto the bed.

Isobel had to admit that she was a little scared as Theodore leaned down. Fortunately, he was too experienced in these things to make her uncomfortable. It had hurt a little when he'd entered her, but the rest of the experience was good.

As a whole, it wasn't bad for her first time.

One thing baffled her, though. Theodore was rumored to have been involved with countless women, yet he now devoured her like a starving wolf. He only stopped moving two hours later.

Isobel was so exhausted that she couldn't even lift a finger. Still, she noticed him freeze as he looked at a spot on the bed. "First time?"

He sounded somewhat disbelieving.

She scoffed. "Don't be scared, Mr. Stone. I won't ask you to take responsibility for me."

He cocked an eyebrow at her before grabbing a cigarette from the box on the bedside table. He lit it, took a drag, and blew out a mouthful of smoke. He looked at her through the smoke.

She was undeniably gorgeous. Even when compared to celebrities, she would come out on top.

Isobel didn't like him looking at her like that. She got out of bed and headed to the bathroom to shower. When she emerged, she looked refreshed and put together.

"I'm leaving." She waved, looking like she'd only dropped by for a quick meal.

Theodore frowned. "Are you casting me aside after using me?"

"Uh… Oh, I almost forgot about this." Isobel approached him with her phone. Then, she held his hand and took a photo.

The photo's subject was their clasped hands, but the messy bed was prominent in the background. Only a fool would have no idea what had happened.

Theodore's hand was recognizable. His fingers were long and slender, and he had a mark on his right ring finger. Anyone familiar with him would immediately be able to discern who he was.

Isobel was pleased with the photo. She quickly shared it on her Instagram, and it immediately gained several likes. Before she could check who the people were, Theodore pulled her back onto the bed from behind.

"I charge differently if you wanna take a photo!" He leaned close to her, his warm breath fanning over her ear. His unique scent wafted into her nose.

Doing it again meant nothing to her since they'd already slept together once, so Isobel didn't resist when Theodore pinned her to the bed again.

He looked reserved and regal on the surface but was like an insatiable beast when it came to these things. In the end, Isobel was drained of all strength and energy. She didn't even know when she'd fallen asleep.

When she woke up the following morning, Theodore was already gone. She felt the spot beside her on the bed to find it devoid of warmth. It seemed he'd left a long time ago.

She headed to the bathroom and took a shower, enduring the soreness all over. She frowned at the sight of the hickeys and marks blossoming over her body. Theodore really was a freak.

After getting dressed, Isobel picked up her phone to see that the battery was flat. As soon as she plugged it in to charge, it buzzed incessantly as missed calls and unread messages flooded it.

It was as she'd expected—her Instagram had exploded, and Ethan had bombarded her with messages.

"Where are you?

"Where the fuck are you?

"Who's that guy with you?

"Tell me where you are!

"Have you fucking lost your mind, Isobel?"

He'd also called her multiple times, but they'd all gone unanswered. Isobel smirked at that. It looked like he and Heather hadn't had a good night.

She blocked him everywhere with a raised eyebrow. Ethan was so proud of her being his loyal doormat that he'd forgotten she was a Scorpio. It was in her nature to hold a grudge.

This matter didn't end there!

Chapter 2
Isobel checked a message from her friend, Sophie Thorne. "Man, have you and Ethan already hit home base? Didn't you say you wanted to leave your first time until after marriage?"Isobel laughed and replied, "Who said anything about the guy being Ethan? Don't make it sound like nobody else wants me."Sophie called her as soon as the message was sent. The first thing she heard when she answered the call was a shrill scream. "Have you finally seen the light, Isobel? Did you dump Ethan, that fucker?"Everyone but her could tell that Ethan was a jerk. She'd been bewitched in the past and so head over heels for him that she'd been blind to the truth. Now that she'd woken up from her dream, she realized how dumb and ridiculous she'd been. Well, that didn't matter anymore.Isobel made a sound of acknowledgment. "Yeah, that's exactly what I want you to spread around. Tell everyone I'm the one who dumped Ethan."Ethan had always been prideful, so she wanted to shame him within the upper cr

Ethan hurriedly turned to hold Heather. Isobel didn't spare them another glance as she turned and left. He was her birth father, yet he only picked on her mistakes. She'd talked about Ethan and Heather kissing each other, yet he acted like he hadn't heard a thing. Then again, she was used to it. She'd lost whatever standing she'd had at home since Anna Samson, her stepmother, had moved in with Heather five years ago. She would have stopped coming home ages ago if not for the fact that she was afraid Vincent and the others would destroy her mother's things.…Sophia approached Isobel when the latter arrived at the company after composing herself. "The client's here, Isobel. In fact, the CEO himself is here. It looks like they're pretty serious about working with us. He specifically asked f

Isobel put on some lipstick in the car, bringing some color to her pale face. Half an hour later, the cab pulled up outside Mysterio. She headed inside and straight to a private room, where she saw a group of men and women. Some were singing and dancing, while others were drinking. She was assaulted by a mixture of cigarette smoke, alcohol, and perfume as soon as she opened the door, which made her cough. She searched the place for Remy.Instead of seeing him, she saw Ethan lying on a couch, downing glass after glass of liquor.Isobel bit her lip, inwardly cursing, "Damn."She knew Remy had tricked her into coming to see Ethan, which pissed her off. She turned to leave, but Ethan had already seen her.His drunken eyes immediately lit up and focused, and he ran after her. He grabbed her and said, "Don't go, Bell. Let's talk about this."She looked at him coldly. "There's nothing to talk about."She wanted to break free of his grasp. Having his hand on her made her stomach turn.

"Sorry. I didn't mean to listen in on your conversation," Theodore said as he rubbed his nose. "Excuse me, please."He was about to sweep past them when Isobel grabbed him. She wrapped her arms around one of his and looked at Ethan. "You wanted to know who I was with last night, right? I was with him!"As soon as her words fell, Ethan's face, which was ashen from his pain, twisted. Then, he snorted, seemingly thinking of something. He said to Theodore, "Sorry about this, Mr. Stone. Isobel's just throwing a tantrum with me. You should head inside to get a drink or two."Theodore was at the top of the social pyramid, even within the upper crust. His family business was the most powerful among them, and he himself was the elite of the elite. Despite his youth, he'd already gained control of his family business. That was why everyone treated him with respect and rarely joked with him.Theodore raised an eyebrow and broke free of Isobel before walking away. She stood there stiffly as s

Sophie cocked an eyebrow. "That's not a big deal, is it? It's not like this is our only client. Let's just take it slow."Isobel sighed and lay down in the backseat, feeling a wave of helplessness wash over her. No matter how strong and resilient she made herself seem, she would still occasionally feel exhausted.Ever since her mother's death, she'd been on high alert at all times. She'd constantly braced herself like a fighting rooster, afraid that she'd be crushed if she were to just let her guard down for a second.…It was late when she got home. Normally, Vincent would already be asleep at this hour. However, he was still awake that night. He sat on the couch with his back straight.Isobel wanted to act like she didn't see him, but he stopped her. "Where have you been? Why are you back so late?"She turned to look at him. "I'm surprised you have the time to bother about me today, Mr. Somner."Vincent had treated her well when her mother, Elizabeth Greene, was still alive. H

After hanging up, she checked the time and realized it was only 8:00 am. She pondered the situation and decided to head to work.Things weren't looking too good for the company. The only silver lining was that Remy had realized he'd gone overboard the night before and had given some of his family's business to Isobel. He even sent her an ingratiating message to apologize. Theodore's reply was brief. "I don't have time for that."Isobel was speechless. As soon as they got into the car, Nancy held Isobel's hand and said cheerily, "You and Ethan should go on a date later, Bell."Isobel glanced at Ethan, who was driving. She pursed her lips before saying, "I have an appointment tonight to discuss a contract. We can do that some other time."Ethan tightened his grip on the wheel when he heard that. Isobel hadn't rejected him outright, but her meaning was clear. She would never have dared treat him like this in the past. His expression darkened at that thought.Soon, they arrived at the Goode residence. Before leaving, Isobel gave Nancy a polite heads-up. She didn't bother sparing Ethan a glance, though. A cheater would always be a cheater; she didn't see the need to have anything to do with him.She got into the car and sat there for a while to gather her thoughts. Then, she called Remy.He soon answered. It was after work hours, and he seemed to be a

Isobel still nodded patiently. "Yeah."Liam clucked his tongue. "I also heard you were the one who dumped him."Isobel smiled. "When have you been such a gossip, Mr. Jakeman?"She wasn't there to gossip about herself. Her goal was to curry favor with Theodore. This business deal with him was worth several million dollars. Signing it would give her company room to breathe and benefit it in terms of scoring future business deals.Remy knew how she felt, so he quickly tried to smooth over the situation. "You owe me three drinks, Mr. Jakeman. Come with me…"He dragged Liam away as he spoke and winked at Isobel, wanting her to give him credit. She blinked at him in response before scooting closer to Theodore with a drink. She was about to speak when the woman beside Theodore suddenly clung to his arm. "I feel a little uncomfortable, Mr. Stone. Can you help me?"She watched Isobel warily as she spoke, seemingly afraid the latter would steal Theodore from her.Theodore chuckled at her

The commotion drew the attention of everyone in the room. Isobel had always held back from drinking with anyone in the room out of consideration for Ethan's feelings, so many of them were seeing her drink for the first time. They couldn't help teasing her. "This is such an honor, Ms. Somner."She rolled her eyes inwardly. She had to play nice for that million-dollar deal. She put down her glass and smiled at Theodore, but he wasn't moved. So, she picked up another glass and downed it. This glass had a bigger mouth than the previous one, so the liquor trickled down the corner of her mouth as she chugged the drink down. The liquid trailed from the corner of her lips to her jaw and slender neck. Then, the droplets moved past her collarbones and disappeared into her cleavage.Everyone's eyes were on Isobel, so no one noticed the slight bob of Theodore's Adam's apple as he watched her.A flush slowly spread over Isobel's face after having had a few drinks, but Theodore showed no sign
