38: Another Visitor

I woke up the next morning, and the first thing my eyes landed on was the rent increase notice that Adam had happily come to drop off the previous day.

I got showered, ate breakfast and packed my clothes. My maid uniform smelt awful from all the sweat and different things that had poured on it, but all of my clothes were even worse because I had not taken any time to sort out my laundry.

There were washing machines available in the basement for everyone in the apartment to use, but Adam was too much of a cheap man, and all of us had to cough up a few cents in order to use them, which was as good as driving your dirty laundry to some laundromat in town and getting it done there. Also, there had been cases of a few people complaining that their clothes disappeared from the washing machines only for Adam to sell them on the side.

So, I had no choice but to pack my dirty clothes into my tote bag and head out of my house.
