I subtly followed them around the house as Dominic showed Aaron what apparently needed reparing and fixing. To me and Aaron, it was nothing big. It was just tiny cracks on the wall, paint slowly peeling off and a random tiny crack on one of the tiles of the floor. To Dominic, it was a disaster waiting to happen. After cleaning the rest of the house, I slowly walked to the office. I reluctantly headed there, but there was no other way of informing Dominic that I was leaving. I knocked on the door and did not hear a reply, but I heard as if something was being played on his laptop or phone. I knocked again, only a little harder. Still, nothing. I unlocked the door, and we entered my house. “Adam, what are you doing here?” I questioned “I figured that if I tried to call you, you would not answer your phone or if I came knocking on your door, you would peep, see me and decide to sit quietly in your house until I leave. Adam had finally left, and I was stuck in my house wondering what he meant by saying that someone else was going to own the apartment. Part of me did not want to believe him because Adam was such a sneaky thief but then again, he looked genuinely serious as he broke the news. I was completely shocked and worried. I was actually more worried than shocked that Dominic was going to replace me. Dominion Heights was a new company, according to Adam, but I had heard the name before. It was not the first time. After finishing my conversation with Adam, I went back to my crappy house and slowly packed everything of mine that I owned. Even if Dominic had paid me triple out of nowhere, I would not be able to keep up with monthly rent. Adam may have been somewhat understanding and was not too hard on me when I could not pay on time, but if the apartment were being handled by someone else, they would probably not be as understanding. Luckily, I was just a woman with a suitcase. I did not have many things. All I had were my suitcases, a few clothes and shoes. That is why it was important for me to find a place that was already furnished. When everything of mine was packed, I looked at my uncomfortably naked house and cringed.
