Adhler’s POV After reading the letter about my father’s disease, I could not help but feel agitated. I was with him the other day, and I had not noticed anything unusual at all. I major in medicine after finishing my other program. There is no way I would not have noticed that he was sick if my mind was not preoccupied. Damn it. All I had ever lived for was the royal family since when did I cut myself some slack for me to get this sloppy? I drank another glass of wine and then glanced at Daimon — he had been standing by the door since he followed me here. It must have taken him some time to clean up my mess. It was something I was not able to stop. I needed to break things, or I could have broken his neck instead. I knew he had no choice. He was my father’s subject before he was assigned to serve me. I understand that, but I can’t believe he really did not say even a single hint that my father is dying. My father… is dying. I don’t know why it felt bitter in my mouth. Death is som
“What is my brother doing here?” Charlene asked. Weiss gulped, feeling cold on his feet as he watched the man walk in his direction. The next thing he knew was the taste of rust in his mouth as a rising pain came with it.“Brother!” Charlene exclaimed. She was surprised to see his brother but even more flabbergasted that he was here— punching Weiss to a pulp. Charlene pulled her brother from Weiss, pinning him to the wall to force him to calm down.“Let go, Charlene,” his voice is low. Adolphus’s deep purple eyes are set on Weiss as if he has already motioned on killing him a thousand times in his head. Adolphus could not erase the fact that Weiss had taken Charlene physically. Adolphus could not forgive him.He turned to Charlene with a dark face, “Let. Go. Of. Me. Now.” He is starting to shift to his wolf, and Charlene knows how dangerous her brother can be in his other form. Adolphus was trained from early childhood to control his anger because it primarily causes him to shift and
“You never see that, don’t you?” Adolphus could not oppose what the Lycan Prince claimed. For the first time in his life, he had seen a side of Charlene so insecure that she ran away without even letting him say a word to explain his side.Charlene has always been an understanding sister. She’s the type who would not let a thing go misunderstood. That is why everyone in the family is holding up together. She holds them together.‘So how could she think about herself so little— right. I said inappropriate words to her. Damn it. I am so stupid. What kind of brother am I? How the hell could I call her a slut when all she’s thinking of is saving my twin? But this is unacceptable. This is a ridiculous project. She’d just get herself disappointed, and I knew how much she liked this program. The family would not want her to sacrifice her passion for chasing something impossible,’ “You should go and take a walk, Adolphus. Nothing good will come if you follow her right now,” Adhler was about
Adolphus left the academy that same day. He had bid Charlene goodbye, and they talked for a little while before Adolphus headed out of the academy.“Why don’t we just continue the research in your estate?” Adhler asked when he noticed how preoccupied Charlene was. Adhler took the book from her hand and placed it right. She was reading it upside down earlier.“We can do that?” Charlene stood up. Adhler smiled at her reaction. Charlene was embarrassed. She just realized how she reacted and found herself so near Adhler’s face when she stood up.Adhler thought of teasing her. He leaned towards Charlene— their noses almost touching each other. “Yes, we can do that,” he smirked. His breath smelled like mint, and his hair was like a field of lavenders.‘He smelled like lavender,’ Charlene thought to herself. She smiled at him to tease him back. ‘How dare you tease me when I feel pressured about all of these?’“You smell like lavender,”Adhler smiled, “I’m glad you liked it. I heard you love
Adhler arranged the relocation of the whole research the very next day after confirming it with Charlene. The sun is still sleeping, and the moon— though half-seen— is still blessing the land with its light. Adhler put a coat around Charlene’s shoulder, “Are you alright? You have been spacing out since yesterday. Does it bother you?” Adhler asked. Charlene looked at him as if she had no idea what he was talking about. Adhler smiled softly. How could someone be so adorably innocent? — is what he thought.Charlene stood up, and the two of them started to walk, “What do you mean?” she asked. Her breath formed a misty cloud from the cold. Adhler faced her and tucked her loose hair behind her ears.“Ignes,” he said, then gazed into her obsidian eyes, “Does she bother you? You can tell how surprised I was when she arrived in the laboratory,” they started walking again. Adhler grabbed Charlene’s hand, held it tight, and put them inside the pocket of the coat he was wearing.“I thought you d
Several hours before Charlene and Adhler left the academy. Weiss turned the page again. He has been reading the documents for over an hour, trying to get some sleep, but after reading the entire study of his favorite mathematician— Weiss just did his system a favor.Weiss tossed the papers on the side table. He turned to his side, hugged his pillow, and closed his eyes. Still, he was forced to open them again. It had been days since he started losing sleep, and he could not even explain why!Weiss took his coat, wrapped it around his body, and left his room to take a walk. He is not a fan of taking walks in the evening— Weiss hates the cold… it was winter when he lost his mother, and ever since then, he has hated the cold.A lot of things have happened since the start of this semester, and Weiss knew how much he had changed. He did not want to acknowledge his changes at first, but he was left with no choice but to accept the unexplainable changes that happened and is happening to him
The entire group took a stop in the next village when the night came, and the snow started falling. It’s the first snow of the year. Adhler tapped Charlene’s shoulders to wake her when they reached the village. They rented the whole inn for themselves. Adhler could not risk having other people with them when they carry a very important study with them. “Where is Weiss?” Charlene asked when she did not see the man inside the inn. The knights looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders. “You were with them. What do you mean you don’t know where my fiance is?” Charlene was annoyed. The knights went out to immediately look for the man. Adhler, on the other hand, did not like what he had witnessed just now. It was something he did not expect to come. He thought that Charlene did not care about Weiss anymore, but to call him her fiance in front of all these people?Adhler looked away. “I’ll look for him,” he said. Charlene noticed the change in his tone. She grabbed the Lycan Prince
Sometimes, all people ever need is someone by their side. Someone that will believe in them no matter what happens. A person that will blindly listen to their words. A person that will endlessly look at them even if they are at their worst.Weiss stared at the sleeping Charlene by the side of his bed. It was dark in the room, but the light from the moon coming from the open curtains made it possible for Weiss to witness a beauty he had always seen… but rarely recognized.Weiss took the damped towel from his forehead. Charlene must have been taking care of him since she found out about his condition. Weiss was somehow conscious earlier, but the heaviness that he felt made it impossible for him to open his eyes, talk, and assure the worried woman that everything is gonna be alright.Weiss forced himself to get up from bed. He feels sore in his back. His condition seemed not as bad as it was in the early dawn. The room was warm, and Weiss noticed the fireplace with a carefully ignited fi
I stared at the blue and clear sky as it radiated light that I have never adored so much until today. I feel warm though my body is soaked wet at the endless lake that I am in. Where am I? Have I died? What happened to my son? Did he meet his father? Did they finally unite? I want to see him… I want to hug him… I want to live a life where I could watch him grow up and run around and do things that he wants. But how? How could I do that? The Queen has died… and they still blame me— he still blames me. Julian may believe me, but the King was not listening to her. He wasn’t listening to anyone now. “You should go back…” “Why? They don’t want me there… they want me gone… Why should I go back? Why must I go back to that place?” “Your son is waiting for you… and he’s waiting for you,” I looked at her. She had been with me before I had given birth to my son… and to my daughter who passed right after I held her. “But no one believes me,” “He believes in you… and he is waiting for
Adhler's Point of View “No!” I shouted and ran to her. No. No. NO! This can’t happen. Open your eyes. Open your eyes for me, Samarah. “Yulo… call Yulo right now— you’re here… help her. Help her, Yulo,” I begged. I never thought I would do something like this. I never thought I’d beg this man. He looked at me and then touched Samarah’s face to close Samarah’s reyes… “I am no god, Adhler… I can help her get better… but I can’t bring her back to life—” “No! Do something! She can’t die! Not when… not when she thought I… no!” I cried. I should have not asked her those questions. There were people who were watching us and I had no choice but to ask her that or they would have killed her in an instant. No. No. I hugged her body and shouted. I shouted my heart out… Do I even have a heart? Do I have the means to even hug her right now? This is all my fault. I should have not left her. I should have stayed by her side… I should have— I should have never forced myself into her life
Louise entered the room through the help of a mage because she would have not been able to had she tried to break in. “Charlene!” Louise ran to Charlene’s side… Charlene who looks like she had seen a ghost because of how pale she has become. Louise did not waste another time and put the woman to sleep so they could run away. But Charlene awoke in few hours and demanded that she needed to go back… because she had left the ring that she received from Adhler… the ring that symbolizes that she’s not a murderer. (Note: from here on is the prologue of the story though some part has been edited) Charlene’s Point of View I stand in front of the room we used to meet up in. The cool shade of blue that made it different from the other doors in this hotel. How odd that I never asked him why he painted this door blue when it stands out more by doing so. The knob flats cold on my palm as I twist to enter. I sniff the rustic smell as it settles in my nostrils. "Are you sure you're leaving?"
“What did you do?” Adhler asked. He stared at the woman who was lying dead on the floor. Adhler ran to her but he did not know where to touch her. “What did you do?” he asked Charlene again. “I-I… I don’t know! It wasn’t me, Adhler— It wasn’t me! I was kidnapped… and then… and then I woke up here! She… Oh… what… what is… what happened… the Queen… the Queen!” She cried as she crawled to the corner. Charlene was surprised. She hadn't seen the face of the body on the ground until Adhler came. “I did not do this… It wasn’t me. It was not me Adhler,” she begged, but Adhler was not looking at her. He was staring at the woman on the ground. He went pale when he felt her pulse. “She’s dead. The queen is dead. Samarah—” he cleched his jaw and squeezed his eyes. “You are not going to leave this room without my permission,” “But it wasn’t me! I was not me!” "You don't know that," "What?" "It's a red moon... your father— The werewolf king has said that you becomes a monster whenever it’
“What do you mean the queen is nowhere to be found?” Adhler asked after Daimon reported to him that the Queen had gone missing. Adhler punched the desk, “Have they caught on the plan that the Queen did?” he could not believe that the Queen had gone missing on the day that they planned to execute her plans. They were going to subjugate the King of the Werewolves today… but how would it be possible? How if she’s nowhere to be found? “What about Samarah? Who was left with Samarah!?” Adhler shouted. Yulo pushed the door and exclaimed inside, “You are not with her? Where did you bring Charlene— did you not know that it’s the full moon today?” *** Charlene could feel her head spinning. She blinked her eyes and stood up from where she was laying. Where is she? Charlene looked around and saw that it was the same room that Adhler rented for her… for them to meet. She clenched her chest when the pain started again… her head spinning— she was about to get a glass of water when she stumb
Charlene shivered in the cold when the breeze touched her skin. Adhler put a coat over her shoulder and smirked, “I told you… the bed would have been warmer,” “You are not funny, Your Highness,” Adhler pushed her to the tree and locked her in between his arms. He leaned his face toward Charlene, brushing their noses— he smirked. “Do you think I am trying to be funny? Hmm?” He kissed her. Adhler carried Charlene and went to put her on the blanket that he prepared on the field. It was a famous field in the country for couples to enjoy the night sky and the light of the city. But Adhler specifically emptied the whole place for the both of them to enjoy themselves. “Are you really going to do this out in the open? You are getting bolder, Your Highness,” Charlene smirked. “I hope our son would not be as wild as you are— ahhh! Stop doing that, Your Highness! Adhler! Stop! It tickles,” Adhler laughed as he continued teasing the woman… though he had to stop when a knight entered the
“Why don’t you bring her to the festival, Uncle?” Julian asked as she watched her uncle look devastated. It had been a month since the two proclaimed Luna had given birth. “Festival?” “It’s happening in the city later this night,” Julian jumped off the stairs and looked at Adhler. She sighed at him, “You look like you need the break too, I will watch over your son for you two,” “You just wanted him for yourself, don’t make me laugh, Julian,” the princess rolled her eyes. She took a few books from the shelf and looked at Adhler, “Because he looks just like Charlene,” “When will you call her aunt?” “Do I have to? I want her as my sister more than my aunt, and besides,” she rolled her eyes at Adhler again. “She deserves better than having you,” *** “Festival?” Charlene has started to talk now. Her body is still weak but she could eat on her own now. And she refuses to be fed. “Where? When? Later?” She asked with her eyes sparkling like a child. Adhler nodded, “If only I k
Adhler left the cellar and Keiffer was waiting for him. “It seems like she was not lying, Your Highness. Bodies of two individuals were found in the deep part of the Dark Forest and it was as if a beast had taken a liking to them,” he reported. “I will be heading to the hotel where Samarah is staying,” When Adhler arrived, he heard a loud shout. An agony. He ran to the room and saw Charlene crying while she carried a child covered in cloth. Adhler was late. He had always been late when it came to Charlene. “Samarah,” he called her name. Charlene looked at him and then stared at their child. “Where have you been? Where have you been, Adhle? Our child… our child is gone,” *** It has been two weeks since Adhler stayed with Charlene. Their son is not with them just yet. The mighty dragon was keeping him safe in a shell that he created to fill the prematurity of his birth. Charlene woke up with a heavy chest again, Adhler was told that Charlene had been experiencing the same
Adhler received a report on the situation that the Queen had made. It really did seem like they had captured the Beta and the woman that was behind it all. He went to the cellar where they are being tortured, but instead of shouts… he could only hear laughter. “Look who we have here… the Lycan King,” the woman smirked. Her face looks like it was burned, but her red eyes indicating that she’s a royal from the werewolves are still visible. Adhler glanced at the Beta… William Heran, “Does your son know that you are here? Does he know that you have betrayed your pack?” William smirked at him… “Who knows? Maybe he’s with your Luna?” he let out a chuckle. “Well, I don’t really know… After Alpha Alphonse Adams kicked me out of the pack… I had never seen my son once,” “What does the Alpha know about the things that you did? Is he included,” “Do you really think I would answer you honestly? Why should I do that? Why must I do that? What if I tell you that he’s the one that commanded me to
