Chapter Two

"Mate? Goddess why! Why him of all damn people." I say pacing back and forth at the bank of the pond. I left the pack house as quickly as possible, coming to my safe space. I sigh, I strip off my clothes, and go into the pond. It's very clear today. I come here to bathe, since I'm not allowed to use the showers or anything at the pack house.

I was born into this pack, we're the Midnight Pack, we are a small pack, but once we were the most powerful pack, until my parents were ambushed by rogues and killed. Each pack has a specific mark on every member. Midnight Pack's mark is a star, sitting on our wrists. If you leave the pack and go to another, the Alpha must bite your wrist and you must bite his then put both wrists together allowing the blood of each other fuse, then will your mark change into that packs mark. However, it's rare for Alpha's to do that, well that's what I was told anyway.

Always being told that, no other pack will ever accept me, I either stay here or become the mere things that killed my parents. I sigh and dunk my head under the water. "Maybe, I'll just go live in the human world or something." I say to myself, wiping my hair out of my face. I look around, and I see Jason walking out of the tree's heading my way, in his hand is a towel.

"Thought I'd find you out here." he says smiling, placing the towel by my clothes, that are neatly folded. taking off his shoes and socks

"Just trying to clear my mind." I say watching him sit down at the edge of the bank, putting his feet in the water.

"I figured, Silas told me he gave you the rest of today and tomorrow off. I'm guessing you know huh." he sighs looking at me.

"That I'm his damn mate. Yeah, not very happy about that at all." I sigh also, walking out of the water, Jason turning his head away, i quickly wrap my self into the towel he brought me and sit down next to him.

"Yeah, I'm very sorry." he says quietly.

"Not your fault, I'm going to reject him anyway, he makes you do awful things to me, not giving you a choice since you're his Beta. Hopefully he'll reject me first, making my life easier." I say looking out over the water, the trees surrounding the area, the wind blowing slightly, all you can hear is the leaves rustling. It was very peaceful.

"I know I said I'd meet you tonight, but Silas wants me by him tonight, cause when midnight hits, his wolf will try and find you. Tomorrow, you need to try and stay away from him. His parents, as you know, will be here, the Elders knew you two would be mates and they told his parents."

"Fucking hell." I throw my head back, looking up at the sky.

"As far as I know he doesn't plan on rejecting you." Jason says softly, moving his feet in the water.

"Jason, I just can't he's vile, evil, and sadistic." I lean my head on his shoulder.

"I know, that's why I want you to reject him, after you do I want you to leave. Leave the territory, because if you don't, he'll do one of two things, force you to be with him, or kill you."

Jason has always been like an older brother to me, we've grown up together always had trained together. It hurts that he's telling me he wants me to leave, but I know he is only saying it because he doesn't want me to get hurt anymore. I know he regrets everything he's done to me, but Silas would kill him in a heartbeat if he didn't do as he says.

"It was my plan anyway. Though I don't want to lose contact with you." I say sadly.

"In your..." he started not knowing what to call it. He was a little flustered

"Closet." I say softly

"I put a bag in there, pack your stuff in it, in the side pocket, I put a phone in it for you my number already programmed in it plus a little bit of money, so you stop going hungry. I wish I could take back all the things, I've said and done to you, but I can't but what I can do is fix things between us. I hope the Moon Goddess gives you a second chance mate. Someone better than Silas."

I'm taken back from his words, "Jason you didn't have to do all that for me. It's not that I deserve anything."

"Yes, I did bug, Silas hates you because you were there when your parents were killed, now he's not the strongest pack anymore, since you lived and your parents didn't, he takes everything out on you and you only. Your parents dying was never your fault." Jason says standing up, walking over to his shoes and socks, putting them back on.

"The sun is setting, stay here as long as you can. Okay I must get back to the Alpha." he says walking back over towards me, I stand up and look up at him. Jason has always been tall,20 years old and he is standing at six foot three. Jason pulls me in and hugs me, kissing the top of my head.

"Thank you." I say to him hugging him back.

"Tomorrow if I have to chase after you, I'm sorry, but I'll make sure to let you go okay." He says kissing the top of my head one more time before letting go. "I need to get going, Silas is mind-linking me to get back to him now. I'll see you later bug." he says with a sad smile, then takes off into the woods.

I sigh, watching him disappear into the woods, i walk over to my clothes, dropping my towel, and begin to get dressed. The sun is slowly disappearing, finally after 5 years, someone told me it's not my fault my parents were killed. I finished getting dressed, and I lay down in the grass, looking up at the sky. It's a mixture of violet and some orange, however it doesn't stay that color for long. I've decided to stay here until the moon reaches its highest peak.

"I'll be 18 in a matter of a couple of hours." I say listening to the crickets chirping. I'll get my wolf tomorrow; however, I won't shift until the next full moon, and tonight should be the Waning Crescent. I should have my first shift in a little over a month.

I lay in the grass, watching the moon rise, and after a while it finally hit its peak. I stand up, and look into the pond, the light from the moon illuminating it, I see my reflection. My skin pale, my grey eyes looking back at me as my dark black hair falls over my shoulders. I shake my head, I hate my reflection, I hate the way I look.

"Maybe one day I'll look better." I sigh, turning away from the pond walking towards the tree line.

"But why my dear? You are quite beautiful" a voice says.

I look around in confusion "Who said that? Show your self."

"Hello Mae, my name is Aria, I am your wolf." she says. Finally I realized the voice was coming from in my head.

"Wait is it already Midnight?" I say aloud

"Yes, my dear it is, our mate is somewhere close by however." she says with a purr.

"Aria, I hate to burst your bubble, but I will be rejecting him. He is a evil man." I say hoping she wont be angry.

"Dear I know he is, little do you know that I've been with you since you were ten, however I could never communicate with you not until tonight. I am fine with you rejecting him. " She purrs

"Thank Goddess you're understanding." I respond to her, smiling. At least I'll always have somebody to talk to now.

Aria chuckles. "Alright dearest, I hope you have a good night, I am very tired."

"Goodnight." I say and get no response back, I yawn. Guess I better head back and get some sleep, today is going to be interesting.
