Chapter 8

"Close the door and sit." he said sternly as he watched my every move. I closed the door quickly, walked over to the chair, and sat down. I looked down at the floor, my body shaking slightly.

"Explain now, I'm only asking once."

"I-I was only allowed to eat every two days, it started after I was released from the cell, I was in there for two months, Jason would sneak me food in there everyday because, i wasnt allowed to be fed as a punishment." My voice is shakey as images flood my mind of being locked in one of the cells in the cellar. I hear Loren growl, causing me to jump. "When i was released Silas finally allowed me to eat but only every 2 days i would get one plate of food, so most of the time i would choose to eat at dinner to kinda hold me over for the next day. Unless I angered him in some sort of way, then it would be longer without food."

Loren got up from his desk and walked over to me. He grabbed my face and made me look up at him. anger and sorrow in his eyes. "Why did you not tell me this."

"I-I'm sorry, I didn't think it was important to bring up." I felt my face flush, my body still shaking, I'm scared that he'll make me leave or even worse, kill me.

Loren sighs "Yes it is important. Anything that has happened to you is important. Understand that."

"Why? Why am I so important? Why are you allowing me to even be here, I'm a nobody. My wolf hasnt even woken up, I'm basically human." I say softly as I move my head away and look down. I'm so confused about everything. Why is Loren so interested in me? Why hasnt Aria woken up yet? Why am I feeling a pull towards Loren. I dont understand any of it.

"What he has done to you is important to me because it will allow me to take the actions needed to kill him. What he has done is vile and unruley. What he made others do to you for no reason. I guessing theres more to the picture on that part, which you will tell me cause i will not allow them to live when they become a part of my pack." Loren exclaimed as he grabbed the other chair and sat down in front of me. "There are many other reasons you are important, but are not vital right now. You're not human, and you know that you have a wolf. She is just weakened right now. She will awaken in time just give her time, i can sense her she's still there." he grabbed my chin gently, making me look at him. His silver eyes locked with mine, his expression gentle, he's breathtaking to look at.

This numbing feeling when he touches me, it makes me think things that i shouldn't. He could never be my mate. Im not alpha blood. I could never be good enough for him.

"Why?" I say softly, his gaze still locked onto mine.

"Why what?" He asked his voice deep.

"Why do you care so much, you dont even know me, im not your mate. Yet you sit here treating me the way you are." i say softly, watching Lorens expression change to sadness almost.

"Mae, I can't tell you just yet, I want to, but I can't. Not yet, I'm sorry." Loren says and closes his eyes. I think I made him upset.

"Then please don't tease me." I say sadly and turn my head away as Loren let go of my face.

"In no way am I trying to tease you, Mae. I appoligze if that's how I've made you feel." He sounded taken back at what I had said. I stayed quiet, not knowing what to say anymore, as my brain was trying to process everything. The silence was deafening between me and Loren. I was looking down at the ground, his black dress shoes in view in front of my feet, yte i could feel him staring at me.

"Mae, tell me, how do you feel around me?" Loren asked his voice soft but deep.

"I dont know how to explain it. Anytime you touch me, i get this numbing feeling. I have this pull towards you that i can't understand either." I say softly as I wrap my arms around my self abit.

"Anything else?" Loren asked as he placed his hand on my knee, causing that numbing feeling agian.

"OH LOREN!" A female voice yells as the doors to his office swing open. I flinched as the noise of the ddors hitting the wall. Loren had stood up and walked behind my chair to cover me from whoever it was that came into the room. "I'm backkk," the females voice sang

"Damnit Lana, what have i told you about throwing my doors open like that." Loren groaned "Also you scared the hell out of our guest."

Lana? I believe that's his sisters name. Oh goddess, she sounds like a handful.

"Where is she?" Lana asked, looking around the room excitedly

Loren tapped my shoulder as to tell me to stand up. Slowly, i stood up and walked out from behind Loren. Lana squealed.

"Goddess arnt you pretty." She gushed."I'm Lana Loren's younger sister."

"I-I'm Mae nice to meet you." I say shyly as she smiles.

"Heard, I'm taking you shopping today for clothes, It will be so much fun." She squeals, I smile slightly and nod my head. The thought of being out with Lorens sister scares me abit, however she seems very nice.

"Calm down, Lana. Go put your stuff away, I still have things i need to talk to Mae about." Loren spoke sternly towards his sister.

"Ok, I get it," Lana says, putting her hands up in defeat, then leaves the room.

Loren groaned, "Man, it had been so quiet since she had been gone. there goes my piece and quiet." he then looked down at me. "My apologies that she scared you, I told you she was a handful."

"I-its quiet alright, she seemed nice though." I say, keeping my eye avereted away from his.

"You will be going out into town today with my sister she already knows the rundown about the situation, Kai and Ryan will be nearby at all times just in case something happens. You won't see them though, pay attention in which direction you guys go when you leave, because if there is something to happen, you take off in the direction you came from, okay? I will be there as quickly as possible with Jason. Do not engage in any fight unless you have to. Lana is able to handle herself, so she needs to worry about her."

I stood there listening to Loren, as he explained everything to me. Sneaking glances every time he wouldn't be looking at me. I can't help but look at him. Aria damn it wakes up please, help me stop these damn thoughts. im having.

"You're not slick, darling," Loren said, his voice deep as he grabbed my face, forcing me to look up at him, causing me to blush.

"S-sorry, I know i shouldn't be staring, I just can't help it." I say softly, averting my eyes away.

"Look at me now." His voice was deep.

I looked at him, his silver eyes locking on with mine, my heart started beating fast. Fast enough to where I could hear it.

"W-What is it?" I asked softly, my blush turning darker.

"When I speak to you, you look at me understand." he said to me, his voice husky.

"Y-yes, sir," I say softly. This man is so confusing.

"Good girl," he smirks as he watches my blush harder. Why does he keep saying that? And why the hell do I like it?

Loren leaned down towards me, his face, inching closer to mine. "Whats wrong darling, wolf got your tongue." he snickered.

I quickly covered my face to hide my blush. He's teasing me just to see how I would react. That's all. He could never go for somebody like me, as much as I wish he would.

Loren grabbed my hands and pulled them away from my face. "Don't cover your face," he said seductively.

"Why must you keep teasing me?" I asked as I looked him, his eyes lustful.

Loren inhaled sharply as he stepped away from me. "Sorry." There was irritation in his voice. "You may leave. remember what I told you. Send Jason in also."

Loren turned away and walked back to his desk. I don't understand what is going on. I lowered my head and walked to the door.

"Yes, sir." I said softly as I left his office, closing the door behind me.

I felt hurt, walking out of his office. This pull toward him makes no sense. He's an Alpha, I'm just a nobody. He still has a mate out there while I rejected mine, and I doubt I'll even get a second chance, mate. I leaned my head against the wall, trying to compose myself.

"Mae?"Jason said as he turned the corner, causing me to jump. "Are you alright?" There was worry in his tone.

"Damn it, Jason, you scared me." I growled at him. "I'm fine, just thinking."

"Don't lie to me?" Jason said as he walked up to me. "Your face gives it away, now what happened."

"Nothing happened, like I said I'm fine," I lied, I just wanted to get away from Lorens' door, knowing he could hear the two of us. "Now I have to go find Lana." I pushed past Jason. "Loren wants you." I say softly, then walked away, leaving him in the hallway.

I walked back to the kitchen, Lana was at the table with Kai and Ryan. Lana looked over and saw me, a smile appearing on her face.

"Mae! Are you ready to head out?"She asked excitedly as she stood up.

I nodded in response, Kai and Ryan stood up also.

"we'll be nearby at all times. However, you won't see us. I'm guessing Loren told you the run down if something was to happen, correct?" Kai said as he walked over to me.

"Yeah, he told me." I nodded.

"Come on Mae, we're going by car. It's not far from here, but it is out of the territory, so that's why they're coming with us." Lana said as she walked to the door, all of us following behind her.

Lana and I got into the car, and Kai and Ryan decided to go in wolf form to make sure everything was clear for us.

"So Mae, how old are you?" Lana asked as she drove us down the road.

"I just turned 18 a few days ago." I spoke softly as I watched out the window pinpointing land marks to remember if something happened

"Wow, I didn't expect such an age difference between you and my brother." she exclaimed.

"Not that it matters, I'm just a guest here, is all."

"I was told you were staying?"She said as she kept driving. we were finally getting into town.

"That's what's been said."

"Are you Alpha Blood by any chance?" Lana asked, curiosity in her voice.

"I have no idea honestly, my parents never talked about our family around me. I never even met my grandparents." I said as I looked over at her.

"Hmm, interesting." she said."What do you think of my brother?"

I coughed, being caught off guard by her question, and she started laughing.

"Well, he seems like he means well. He didn't kill me and has been nothing but nice." I said quickly, feeling my cheeks turn pink.

"Well, at least he's been nice to you. But besides any of that?"

"I can't help but be drawn to him, but I'm pretty sure that's a lot of people, especially with the way he looks." I said as she pulled into a parking lot looking for a spot.

Lana laughed "well youre not wrong there, but I've never seen him act this way towards a female in a long time if im being honest."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

Has he already had a mate before or something?

"Ah, well, he hasn't found his mate yet, but for a while, when he was 20, there was a girl he was fond of for a while. however, it didn't work out between the two of them." Lana spoke quickly as she put the car in park.

"Ah, okay," I said softly as I unbuckled myself.

"Okay enough, talk about Loren, let's get you some clothes." she said as she got out of the car. I got out and walked to the front of the car, Lana was there already. I never realized how tall she was until now.

"So we'll find you some everyday clothes, dress clothes for events, some shoes, and things to sleep in and of course bras and panties." she said as we walked in sync into the building

"I usually only wear sports bras, honestly." I said in a hushed voice.

"Seriously? have you ever tried an actual bra?"

I shook my head. "No, I was always training before my parents died, so I've always stuck to Sports Bras."

"Time for a change then, we'll get you a few just to try, and then we'll get you a few sports bras too."

"I only have a little bit of money with me, though." I spoke softly as we walked into the first store.

Lana laughed "Yeah no, you won't be paying for anything, Loren gave me his card. He's paying for it."

"Wait, what?"

Lana laughed agian. "He knew this is how'd you react. Just accept it. He was going to do it no matter what. That's just the type of person he his. Now come on, let's shop."
