His lips stretched to the right side, drawing a smirk on his exhausted face. Still holding a gaze at him, Haya stood still on the spot.
"Jacob, catch it", Aaron turned around, throwing the ball, and ran towards the court again, leaving her in great confusion.
She wondered if he was serious about it. However, she also knew that Aaron Samuel was also famous for being sarcastic and humorous all the time. How could he know everything about her? She was an ordinary girl among the thousands of students who had no identity.
In her pack, she was known as Gamma Frederick's daughter.
As she drifted to leave the court, she found herself in front of Koena and Riley with their girls. She choked, darting her eyes on them.
"See, I don't even know who you are, nor I have any interest in wasting my time on you", Koena scowled at her, crossing her arms. "Go and cut off your name from the form. It'll be better for you"
Haya paused, looking at them for a while. "But I made it to this position. Why will I leave it?"
"Because I'm saying"
Haya clutched her handbag again, almost shivering on her spot. She didn't want to leave the position. Another side, she was scared of getting bullied by them.
"Leave it. I knew you're not capable of handling them", Aaron's voice echoed inside her head. Her mouth fell open as she looked sideways.
Aaron was looking at her, standing more than ten feet away with a guy, still dabbling the ball.
"Did he actually say something? How did I hear him? And how didn't anyone hear him?", Haya wondered. It didn't take much time for her to know that she was having a mind link to him. She could talk to him without even speaking a word.
"Why do you always belittle me?", Haya glared at him, speaking in her mind.
"We just talked a few minutes ago. What do you mean by 'always'?", Aaron scowled back.
Haya shifted her gaze to Koena. "Who are you?"
Koena's mouth fell open at her drastic answer. Haya walked faster past her and left the court, glancing at Aaron for once.
The day seemed to be bigger than any other day for Haya. She had gotten the biggest shock of her life that morning, the biggest betrayal which she was trying to overcome. Nonetheless, she was still clueless about her unborn pup.
Just a night ago, she was so happy with her life that she never was. Just a month ago, she thought she was loved, she was capable of getting love. But all turned out to be a hoax, a misconception. She was still a nobody. While she walked across the muddy field, her gaze wandered to the cloudy sky, turning blacker same as the state of her heart.
"Girl", Natalia joined her from behind. "Congrats! I heard you were selected"
"Yes", Haya passed a smile.
"Good. But take a friendly suggestion, okay? Koena is a bitch. And she'll try to get her position back. So, you better stay alert", she said while munching a protein bar.
Haya shook her head. With a small light of hope, she looked at Natalia, preparing herself to share everything since it was being tough for her to handle this alone.
"Natalia, I wanted to say something"
"Yup. Say"
"Can we sit somewhere? I have many things to say", she beamed in joy. There was someone to hear her.
"Sit? You mean you want to narrate a history", Natalia's eyes wide opened. "Babe, I have to rush for the dance class. We'll talk tomorrow", she did a quick hug and walked away.
Haya sighed and walked towards the gate.
"Hey, where are you?", Aaron's voice chimed in her head again. She halted near the gate, looking around.
"I'm going home", she pondered.
"I hope you remember what I said. Are you coming?"
"Were you serious?", her eyes shot up, rolling her and there.
"I wasn't kidding, Haya. What made you feel like I was joking?", his voice seemed heavy enough. "I'm waiting in the parking lot. Come fast"
"What?", Haya muttered to herself. "Serena! I'm confused as hell. How can I hear him? I have never had a mind link to anyone. Is he our mate or what?"
"He is not. We can't feel anything. No scent, no heat. Maybe, it's an unreal mind link. You have some powers", Serena said.
"I can't believe I have any special power", Haya sighed. "And even if I have, it's of no use. What will I do with this mind link to him?"
She kept wondering while reaching the parking lot. A pile of thoughts was roaming inside her tiny head. She saw Aaron sitting inside his Audi through the window. Her fingers moved to settle her ponytail on her neck.
Aaron whistled to grab her attention but she was still fighting with her thoughts. Pissed enough, Aaron came out of the Audi and leaned back to it.
"Will you please leave your attitude aside before coming in front of me? I don't like it", he faked a smile. Her lips remained sealed.
"Forget it. Get inside now"
"I'm not that kind of girl", she finally spoke, lifting her gaze.
"Ha? What? What kind of?", Aaron rolled his eyes in confusion.
"I don't know you. And how can I.... with you....", she was looking for the right words.
"With me? What? Do I look like a playboy?"
"I didn't mean that. But.....", she looked around.
Almost all the eyes were on them. Haya never got that kind of attention, never in her life, she caught so many eyes.
"How boring you are", he panted. "I almost get bored with you. Seriously. I can fall asleep now"
"When did I ask you to be with me?", she fired back at him abruptly. "Just go if I'm......boring or what"
She looked away with annoyance all over her face.
"Okay. Now stop this melodrama and get inside", he said in a bossy tone.
Haya might look timid and fragile, she never tolerated something like that.
"Why? I mean why do you wanna drop me?"
"To hold on you", he darted his eyes on her.
"What?"
"Nothing", he looked away. "I'll ask you the last time. Please don't rant the same thing again that you don't know me.
It was unclear what she thought instantly and walked into his Audi. He took his seat while fastening the seatbelt, sensing her gaze at him.
"I know I'm good-looking. Don't stare at me to prove that", he cracked up.
She immediately looked away, clearing her throat. "I was just wondering"
"What?", he drove out of the campus, pausing for her answer.
"You said you know me", she looked at him.
"Yes"
"Everything?"
"Everything"
She couldn't be more surprised. He was serious about it, he wasn't kidding.
"But I don't know you", Haya exclaimed.
A roll of laughter escaped from Aaron's mouth.
"Finally, any girl is saying that she doesn't know me"
"Well, I know you. But not in that way. I mean....", she stammered, lowering her eyes.
"That that girl", he chuckled.
"Huh! What?"
"You always have a way to describe something weird. That type of girl, that way, that manner!", he continued laughing. "So, you're the that-that girl for me now"
"I don't understand when you're serious and when you're joking", she hushed, pressing her lips together as she realized she hadn't told him her address but he was going in the right direction. It shocked her more.
"So, you don't know me that way. Come on. Try to know me", he said, his eyes glued to the road.
"Like how?"
"Ask me anything you wanna know. I'll love to introduce myself", he ran his fingers across his grey hairs, nibbling his lower lip.
Haya took a minute before she spoke again, "so, you're not a human?"
"No. You must have understood until now. We just linked through our minds"
"From which pack?", she asked.
"Dark dense pack. I'm your neighbor", he winked at her.
"Your rank?"
"Beta"
"Where were you last year?", she asked.
"You noticed that I wasn't on the campus for a year? Great!", he chuckled.
"Well, everyone talked about you today. So, I got to know"
"I see. I was in New York for the entire year with my Alpha. We were for training. He is still there. But I'm back", he stated.
"Oh", she looked out of the window.
The cloud started to flew from the west, erasing the gloomy environment, letting the sun sparkle brighter. Her eyeballs swirled, drifting with the direction of the semi-black cloud.
"Is that all?", Aaron spoke. She blinked her eyes after a long pause and turned to him.
"Ha?"
"Is that all you needed to know about me?"
"Well, I don't know what to ask more"
"Then how will you know me?"
"I don't wanna know about you", she muttered.
"Are you sure you don't wanna know more about me?", Aaron leaned forward to her with a chuckle.
Haya actually wanted to know more about him but something was stopping her, maybe her anxiety with people and the way she was treated. She wanted to know how he knew her and everything about her, why he was so interested in staying with her.
"Are you confused about what you should ask?"
"Well, yeah. You can say about yourself. I don't have any questions"
"But I won't say until you ask me. And this is the last chance. If you miss it, I'll make sure that I remain a mystery to you", he winked at her, again focusing on the road.
"Gravity loves you" Aaron spoke, dragging her out of her agonistic thoughts. She was startled from her seat and took the phone. Aaron darted his eyes, filled with concern, and urged to hear something from her. He could see her eyes getting moistened and her lips pressed harder with each other as if she was trying to hold her tears, looking out of the window. "Are we done with the session?", he asked after a pause. "I'm not interested. Please", her voice throbbed while talking as she hanged her head, staring at the blank screen of her phone. "What's your interest? May I know?" "Why are you so much interested in me?", Haya shrugged off. She realized she was being too harsh towards the only person who was giving her a bit of attention. Even when Rubel dumped her, she didn't utter a single mean word for him. "Well, you lost the opportunity to know. I told you if you delay much, I will remain a m
She gawked at him, enlarging her grey eyes as a smirk emerged across his fair hard face. He pulled himself back, standing straight. "Well, let's go", he pulled the hood up. "Were you serious?", she exclaimed. "Is there actually a practice session?" "Well, of course. What did you think? I came here for another purpose? Like saving you?", he rolled his eyes. "N–no", she drove her eyes away. "Was he actually doing something?", his eyebrows drew together as Haya immediately lifted her eyes. "No!!", she clamored. The fear of Rubel was scrambling inside her. She was not exactly afraid of him but everything revolving around him. He was an Alpha to be of one of the strongest packs of USA. It would be her stupidity to speak against him when she wasn't even worthy of fighting back. "Come now. I left my practice for you", Aaron turned around and walked towards his Audi. Haya took tiny steps, following him, reaching there. He
Two long hours passed.Aaron was continuously practicing. His eyes were only darted on the net, eyeballs freezing like dead cells and his ears could only take the sound of dabs until he heard a noise behind him. His focus broke and he turned around. He got stunned at the sight of Haya tripping over, holding her head. She was still standing there while Aaron didn't waste a second and ran across the court."What happened?", he wrapped his palm around her arm. Her eyes almost closed shut and she could hardly stand straight."Are you feeling dizzy?", he asked again as she shook her head. Without delaying much, he bent over, sliding his arm down to her thighs and another arm wrapped around her broad waist. He lifted her in his arms while her head fell heavily against his chest. She was still in sense but mumbling. He carried her to the locker room and made her sit on the bench."Water?", he brought out his water bottle which was dangling a
The vision of the last night flashed before Haya's eyes when she had eye contact with Rubel. Cold shivers ran around her body as she felt a sharp pain in her elbow. It was bleeding. "Oh! Are you okay?", a soft girly voice chimed. Haya didn't realize Harper was standing beside him. Her eyes wandered to her. Harper knelt in front of her and clasped her arm. "Oh no! It's bleeding. Rubel, couldn't you walk carefully or what? Now say sorry", she looked up. "What?", he blurted out. "Say sorry. It won't harm you. Her elbow is bleeding", Harper replied. "No, that's.....", Haya strived to say nervously. "She could've moved instead of bumping into me", he glared at her. Haya's heart was pounding heavily. How could she forget that they were in the same college? The risk was still there. She couldn't escape. A mini crowd gathered them as Riley examined the situation from the platform. "Another drama is going on. I'm getting so piss
"You're out of the team", the harsh words from the deen pricked Haya's ear as she pressed her eyelids tightly. After a long period, something good had happened to her but it went in vain again."I don't know about the supplements", she said for the tenth time but no one tried to listen to her."How can we trust you? We found those pills with you, most importantly, you were practising for 14 long hours. It isn't a joke. Especially for a girl like you", the lady scanned her chubby body from head to toe. Undoubtedly, she was pointing out her figure."Because I had no option", Haya tried her best to clarify. "I was indeed exhausted but–""If you want to prove it, you'll have to go through a urine test", the head of the organizers said."Urine test?", she stammered. The one test that could change the entire dimension of her life. She rem
Haya's heart twisted with the words as she abruptly parted ways with Aaron. Her entire body was shivering. She was just trying to handle herself but then the sudden chaos happened. Her devastated eyes lingered upon Rubel who was at the door, his face was stern and ruddy."What happened?", Aaron frowned, gasping in a calm voice."What the fuck was happening here?", Rubel spat, walking faster towards them."None of your business, Rubel", Aaron groaned. "As far I know, you have nothing to do with any of us. So, it shouldn't bother you"Haya gulped, taking her shivering steps behind as she pinned against the bookshelf. Her body was producing the unreal shiver."I got everything", Rubel's ruddy gaze turned to her as she remembered his words. One mistake, you and your pack, finished. She didn't know what she should do to escape that reality of her life. Aaron was there, he didn't know anything about Rubel, nor about her connection
Haya's POVHis touch felt like a curse to me then. My brain wasn't working anymore after the allegations by Rubel. I could bear everything but not this one. I had never come in contact with any other men when I was with him, nor before him. He was the first. However, I was so wrong about him. I was nothing but the worst creature on that earth. How did I think that a man like him could be trustable who was cheating on his mate with me?I was blind."Now, what's this new drama, Cinderella?", Aaron scowled at me, his brown eyes turned darker in shade."It's Haya", I shrugged off."Cinderella", he hushed, reaching close to my face as I again felt the familiar breath. I didn't mind the closeness until I realized something. Why couldn't I be the only one? To anyone? The thought of him being with plenty of girls made me realize that I was the same for him. I was roaming with him for the last 36 hours. With a guy like
Haya"Why are you doing all this?", my voice shook but soon after it, I came out of my muse. Our eye contact broke and I felt his touch on the irresistible place, my waist. Heat flowed inside my body and I pushed myself away from him. It took me a while to control myself and speak back."Please go. I told you not to interfere in my life again""As far I remember, I didn't say that I'd obey your words", he spoke.Frustration took over me. I was gonna take such a crucial step which took me a lot of courage and he was making it more difficult for me."Just leave", I screeched my heart out, stepping away from him. "For goddess sake, just go. Why can't you understand that I wanna be alone? You may think you know everything about me. But I bet you don't. So, just get the hell out of my sight, please"I turned around, breathing heavily. My shoulder touched the wall for support to stand properly. For a few minutes, he didn't speak. But I knew
