Amara was having dinner later that day when her phone screen lit up with a phone call.
A tight smile formed on her lips as soon as she read the name. She swiped right to answer the call and placed the device against her ear.
“Grandfather, good evening.”
“Hello Amara, Lorenzo told me about your recent decision. Do you really want to come home, child?”
“Yes Grandfather. Once I close the deal here, I’ll be home in a few days. I apologize for the trouble I’ve cost you in the past few years.”
Elvis sighed. “It’s alright, I’m just glad you’ve come to your right senses. As for your engagement with-“
“Grandfather, please, I’m not ready for any sort of relationship right now. Six years of negligence can’t be fixed just because you think your friend’s son is the best man in the world. Please understand me.”
There was silence on the other
It was late at night when Tobias, who was working late, happened to catch sight of the ‘cute’ video that was going viral. At first, he wasn’t sure if he was seeing right, but when the person in the video turned around and made eye contact with whoever it was filming, he was convinced that the woman was Amara. He paused the video then and went on the internet. After a quick search, he was able to get a clearer version of the clip.He didn’t say anything as he played it over and over, each time, a part of him growing angrier than the previous. He was boiling with an unknown anger and his fist were clenched tightly, his knuckles turning white. After watching the video for the sixth time, he paused it and gently placed his phone face first on the table. But despite his calm demeanor, it was clear in his eyes that he was angry. What about? Even he didn’t know.He was finally going to move on in life with Celes
Touch down took a few hours, but the moment Amara arrived in Italy, she was heavily welcomed by the people and staff of her home.Lined up in a straight line, several bodyguards and staffs, all dressed in black well tailored suits, bowed at the waist as soon as they saw her.“Welcome home, Ms. Crawford!”Amara smiled. Although it had been years since she last received treatment like this, she was no stranger to it.“Thank you, everyone.” She greeted and they straightened up, all looking a bit elated by her presence.“It’s great to have you back, Ms. Crawford. How was the trip?” Xavier, the head butler asked.“Of course it was good!” A voice interrupted before Amara could speak. She snapped her head in the direction it had came from and a smile painted her entire face the movement she saw her grandfather, Elvis, walking towards her.“Grandfather,”“We
“Amara,” Elvis had cautiously called out to his granddaughter while they were in the car. His voice was low, preventing Lorenzo who was on a call from listening to what he was going to say.“When you get back, please don’t trouble those two. Ever since your parents death, our family has never been at peace, but I want that to change. Despite all that has been done, I want us all to live in peace, so please,”He took his granddaughter’s hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. “Please don’t stir up trouble.”Amara had stared blankly at her grandfather for a few seconds before smiling.“Alright.”Even though she had easily agreed, Elvis could tell that she didn’t fully agree with his perspective. And he was right, because less than an hour after they had that talk, Amara stood by the poolside, staring down at Katerina with a cold expression after having emptied an entire glass of lemonade over her head.“What the hell are you doing?!” Katerina shrieked, pushing herself off the lounge chair.“
“So, let’s get this straight,” Melanie’s voice boomed from the video call she was currently having with Amara. “You’re throwing a welcoming party and you want us to fly all the way to Italy?”Amara nodded her head, but didn’t bother taking her gaze off the papers in her hands. They were company documents, the most important ones, as Lorenzo had dimmed them.If she wanted to know everything about their headquarters before taking the seat of CEO, she’d have to be aware of how the company ran. And she was hell bent on learning that.“That’s right,” She spoke. “I’ll arrange for my private jet to pick you up and I’ll even arrange for a place for you to stay and-“ Suddenly realizing that Melanie had gone silent, Amara stopped talking and looked up from the documents in her hand.Melanie sat with her hands crossed and an expression of amusement plastered across her face.“Go on,” She encouraged. “I’m listening.” Her words, especially the way she said them, made Amara conscious of all she had
By the time Amara and Melanie arrived at the Zone, it was buzzing with life, filled with people, all dressed in the latest fashion, drinking and dancing along to the beat of the music.A typical Saturday night in the club.It was Amara who took the initiative to enter, followed closely by Melanie who was quite cautious of the environment, not used to the fancy life of Milan. As they walked in, she could tell a few things just by glancing around the place. First, this was no normal club, second, it was a VIP section. The faces around belonged to those of familiar celebrities one knew, but at the same time, didn’t know. All this, had Melanie feeling a bit overwhelmed, but in a good way.“This place is awesome.” She stated, still looking around like an impressed child.Amara chuckled as she led them toward the bar. “You obviously knew that when you suggested we’d go here, right?”Melanie looked
“Tobias?”Celestine perked up from the couch at the sound of the main door opening and closing. She watched as he walked into the living room, a deep frown marring his face.“Is everything okay?” She stood up from the couch and met him halfway, placing her hands on his shoulders to examine his face. “Did something happen?”“It’s nothing,” Tobias unintentionally brushed off her hand and headed for the bed room.Celestine frowned at the action. What now? She thought. Things had been going perfectly between them. There was no Amara to cause chaos or draw Tobias’s attention, so what was making him act like this?Well one thing was for sure, she couldn’t get answers from standing around.Turning around, she headed towards their shared room. “How was the meeting with Brian?”Brian was the investor Tobias had gone to meet up with last minute. Or at le
While everyone in the Hall applauded and praised Amara’s beauty, Celestine felt like she was losing her mind.Wasn’t Amara meant to be an orphan from a poor background? Then what was this?! Why was she standing on that stage, smiling, and looking so gorgeous while baring the Crawford name.“What the fuck is going on?” She muttered, but no one heard her words amidst the applause and praise.Beside her, Tobias equally looked stunned. Whatever training or ability he had to always keep a stoic expression on his face, failed him and he couldn’t help the expression on his face. What was going on? Had Amara lied to them all? Lied to him?How could she? How dare she lie to him…for six years?!The thought began to announce Tobias and his hold on the wine glass in his hand tightened and his expression darkened. This was unacceptable!Amara had made a fool out of not only him, but also his late grandfa
“Ah, I see you two already met each other.” Richard said, grinning from ear to ear at how the situation had surprisingly turned out to be In his favor.“Yes, Amara and I, quite close.” Elijah added and Amara looked away, tightening her hold on the wine glass in her hand.Quite closer her ass! If they were as close as he claimed, why did he hide…‘Ah,’ Amara mentally slapped herself. ‘So this was how Melanie felt.’“That’s great.” Richard laughed, tapping Elvis on his shoulder. “See Elvis, I told you they’d make a fine pair.” He turned back to Elijah. “And to think that this young man here was playing hard to get when I first approached him, saying he didn’t have the time for a relationship.”Elvis chuckled. “Ah, the young ones these days, they always have one thing or the other to do, can’t find the time to settle down.”
