Those words felt like melodies to Elijah’s ear.

‘Give us a try’, she had said, and Elijah was left staring at her with a blank expression, unsure if he heard right.

“W-what?” He stuttered.

“Us, Elijah,” Amara repeated, but gone was that unsure look in her eyes.

She looked certain of every word that came out of her mouth, every emotion she was feeling and whatever situation was currently going on.

In made Elijah’s heart thump, faster and louder than it normally did.

“I want to give us a try, Elijah.” She repeated, her tone was firm and filled with confidence. “We don’t have to call off the engagement, we don’t have to make a silly place behind my grandfather’s back. Let’s give us a try, let’s be together, officially, and…who knows, maybe, in the near future, we’d find a way out of this mess without breaking my grandfather’s heart.”
