Lucian leaned back against the chair his head pounding and his neck aching. He somehow managed to fall asleep on the table after getting drunk of all the alcohol in the room. The alcohol he and Thea were supposed to enjoy together.Sighing, he stood up making his way into the bathroom and staring at the mirror. His eyes were bloodshot and had dark circles around them and his hair was a rat's nest. Such a pathetic appearance, he thought, one befitting someone like him.He was about to turn on the shower when persistent pounding started to penetrate through his door. Wondering who it was, a voice within him told him that it may be Thea coming to settle her score with him. She would be a welcome sigh, even while screaming and cursing him for deceiving her, he would welcome it more than the devastated look as her parting words slew him like sharpened swords. But his hope was dashed as soon as he opened his door to find himself looking at a frantic-looking Loyd as he stared at him."Where
Lucian watched silently as the board members across the table looked around uncomfortably. He was pondering about letting them live the awkward moment longer but his tablet lit up indicating that it was time for him to talk.Looking around at them and meeting the gaze of each one of them, Lucian felt his anger simmer within him.He stood up straightening his suit and looked around the room before he started speaking.“ladies and gentlemen, thank you for gathering here today on such short notice. As you know the battle for succession in our company has been going on for too long and I can’t help but feel that it is going to end up being the reason why our company is going to be destroyed from the inside if you don’t do anything about it.As I was looking for a way to end this battle, I stumbled upon some concern in details that I’m going to share with you today,r” Lucien said as he looked around the room.“ As you all know when my grandmother decided that my cousin and I would have to
As Lucian stood by the side of the corridor, he watched with satisfaction as the line of board members left the meeting room escorted by the police officers. Keith threw him a glare as he walked away, and as he did he could hear him demanding for his lawyer. Well, a lawyer would never be able to save him from embezzlement. Although Keith was his cousin from his father’s side, his father and mother had apparently long since died in a car accident which led him to be raised by their grandmother. Although they grew up together, Keith had always been hostile toward him for some reason, and Lucian didn’t really bother trying to find out why. He was a bit of an obnoxious guy back then too. Being someone who got everything he wanted and didn’t struggle in life overall gave him some bad qualities that he began to realize when he met Thea. And those bad qualities were probably what led him to this situation. Lucian reached for his phone dialing the number he had on top of his call history. T
Thea leaned back in her seat as she stared at the document she was reading on the laptop. She took the pencil from her lips and jotted down a few notes before flipping to the next page. Before she could get immersed in the content of her new page, she heard some knocking on the door and turned around to find Grace, Lucian’s grandmother standing there with a smile. “Hey there. The butler tells me that you’re impossible to get a hold of these days…” She trailed off as Thea motioned for her to come inside and sit down. “You were gone for a while, I happened to find a laptop and thought I could advance a little bit on my research while I’m here,” Thea explained. “While you’re here? So you decided to go back?” Grace asked. Thea smiled at the older woman. “You knew that I was going back eventually. I still have to work on the research until we can find someone to replace me…” she trailed off and Grace nodded in silence. “Are you sure you want to leave the university though?” Grace as
“Your grandfather collapsed last night due to extreme stress. You need to head back to see him,” The woman said through the phone.Nadia felt her heart skip a beat before her anxiety completely surrounded her dumping her in the cold waters of uncertainty and fear. She knew this feeling. It was the same as when her parents died. The crippling fear that overcame her the moment she was faced with their certain death. And the grief that had all but destroyed her that day.“Thea! Hey! Thea!” Grace called out shaking her shoulders forcefully snapping her out of her thoughts.“What should I do…” She trailed off emotionlessly and Grace shook her once again.“You should go back home and be with your grandfather. He had been looking for you everywhere since you disappeared. I wouldn’t be surprised if he collapsed because he was worried about you…” Grace trailed off.“But…” Thea trailed off unsure whether to come back or not.“You have to give the man a chance, Thea. Otherwise, he will never be
“Here you go, now both of you will have a copy of the contract. You will have to live under the same roof for the rest of the year, after that, we can declare that the two of you have some unresolvable issues and end the relationship. Thea would return to her old house and as she insisted she would get nothing from the marriage and the property that is now in both your names would go back to Lucian," As Peter finished the lengthy explanation, Thea simply nodded as she put the contract into her purse. Peter sighed once again leaning back and looking at both of them with an exasperated look. She knew that he had a lot to say, mainly to give this another thought, but Thea didn't want to hear it so she didn't give him a chance. She barely met him and Pen since she came back because she wasn't ready to have a discussion yet."I sent the funds back to your account, they should be there," Thea said simply not looking at Lucian who was sitting on her other side."I don't want your money..."
Thea walked into the coffee shop looking around for her friend. She waved at her from across the room, and as she was walking toward her, she could see that she wasn't alone.Thea paused giving an exasperated sigh as she glared at the grinning, other person, who wasn't supposed to be there. Instead of looking guilty or even bothered, he smiled at her and lifted his cup in greeting.Thea looked at the door ready to walk outside, but the sight of the mint tea waiting for her on the table made her hesitate. Making a split-moment decision, she gave in to temptation and sat down reaching for the cup and inhaling the fresh herbal scent."Told you that the tea would be a good bait..." Peter said with a smirk and Pen sighed."Sorry. He insisted on coming as soon as he knew that we were meeting," She said.Thea took a sip from her tea and savored it completely ignoring the two."Well, she's not answering my calls and she's never in her office when I visit. If I go to her house, Lucian will pro
Lucian woke up with a start as his hand slipped from the edge of the table making him lose his equilibrium. Looking around him, he sighed when he realized that he was still sitting in the kitchen with the lights on waiting before his silent phone. He had returned home that evening from work eager to try and have dinner with Thea, knowing that she should be home before him. As he waited and waited, he realized that Thea was probably dining outside and had his meal in lonely silence mulling over how to win her over again.Walking through the house, he sighed at the unfamiliarity of the place. It was a new house even for him. A place he had been hoping to live in with her. Now that he was, he realized that just living with her was never going to be enough. Because even though she was by his side, she felt farther away than when she disappeared last month.Reaching for his phone, he took a deep breath and tapped the screen calling her phone. The call went straight to voicemail. Worry star
