When Marcelyn had meant humans, she didn't mean people like the idiots in front of her who were nothing but meals for people like her.
The people she had been talking about were the people of the undead world popularly known as vampires.
A clan of powerful beings to which Marcelyn belonged and would never want to stop belonging.
Her attention returned to the table when one of the men gave her ass a light slap.
Marcelyn swallowed the words she wanted to hurl at the man and smiled instead when she remembered that it would be her turn so very soon to shock the man.
"Hey, woman. Go get me some good old ale." A man called behind Marcelyn and she turned back.
When she saw who had spoken, she nearly groaned.
The man was the number one drunk she had ever come across in all the taverns she had worked in, which was a lot if she was being honest.
Until he was thrown out of the tavern, Marcelyn knew that the man wouldn't be leaving on his own.
"Go attend to old Bill." One of the men who were gawking at her said.
"Don't leave without my permission," Marcelyn commanded, then she moved away from them to attend to Bill.
"Yes, we won't." The four men chanted after her fading figure, but she didn't turn back.
She didn't need to turn back since she knew that even if the tavern was on fire, they wouldn't leave if she didn't give them the command to leave.
They would burn down to ashes along with the tavern instead.
Such was the power those who were dating among the vampires held.
After she finished serving Bill the ale he had requested, she told her boss she was done for the night and dropped the towel in her hands on the table.
She also unknotted the apron which sat on her old skirt around her tiny waist.
Then, she went back to the four men, swaying her hips as she walked.
She met them still drinking and ribbing each other about who would have her first.
"Tavern girl, please tell these fools you will ride me so hard they're gonna shiver." One of the men spoke. Here was the most handsome among the men, but he was also the youngest.
"Yeah, I'm gonna give you all a surprise you won't be forgetting anytime soon.Let's go," Marcelyn told them as she walked up the stairs to her little room in the tavern.
The men kept giggling behind her in exciting voices that were filled with lust.
Yes, she was also filled with excitement too, but not for the same reason as them.
As soon as they got to her room, the youngest among the men grabbed her ass, drew her to himself, and began to grind his erection over her ass.
Marcelyn turned her head behind and saw that another of the men had just closed the door.
The other two advanced towards her and when they got to her, one of them cupped one of her breasts and he began to squeeze from the old and frail dress she wore.
Without a word or any warning, she turned and grabbed the man behind her with such force that it surprised the man.
Before any of them could comprehend what was going on, Marcelyn sank her fangs deep into the man's neck. She drank the last of the man's blood like it was an intoxicated wine she couldn't walk away from.
By the time she let go of the man, he was already pale and lifeless, he thudded on the barely cemented floor of her room.
She lifted her beady eyes and looked at the rest of the men in the room with her and she smiled at them, revealing her blood-stained fangs.
Blood dripped from one of the fangs and Marcelyn ran her tongue over the fang to stop the blood from wasting.
Screams erupted in the room as the men understood what was happening.
She smiled at the pathetic looks on their faces and shook her head slightly.
Oh, how she hated humans because of their weak bodies and minds.
With the speed of lightning, Marcelyn ran to the man who was trying frantically to open the door and get away from her.
She closed his mouth with her left hand while she grabbed him with her right and sank her fangs into his neck also.
She heard more screams but didn't bother about it as the blood kept gushing into her mouth and she drank everything until there was not a single drop left either. When she dropped the man, he fell to the floor at her feet lifeless, also.
"Please. Please, don't hurt us." One of the men said to her and that aroused Marcelyn's anger the most.Yes, she hated humans, but more than that, she hated those that are pathetic the most.
Before the man could blink, Marcelyn was in front of him.
She bent his neck and sank her fangs into him too, drinking from him until he was also dead.
She turned to her last victim and saw that he was crouched low, his two hands covering his ears as if to block out the sounds of her previous victim. She heard him reading the rosary and nearly laughed.
Did those pathetic humans think that reading the rosary could save them from the vampire's clutch?
Come to me. She commanded him and watched in amusement as the man stood up and walked towards her.Bend your neck for me. She commanded again. The man obeyed the order without any resistance.Marcelyn smiled as she ran her tongue over the man's neck, then she punched two holes into his neck.
The shock and horror on the man's face as the pain hit him gave Marcelyn more joy than drinking the man's blood did.
When she was done drinking, she tossed the man's body away from her to a corner of the room. She stood still for a minute as she felt power cussing through her.
This was why she loved human blood, it gave her power more than even the blood of a hundred different mixed animals could ever give her.
She looked around at the mess she had made and hissed.
Let humans take care of it.She thought as she opened the door and walked back downstairs.
The horrible looks on the faces of everyone present told her that they had heard the screams of her latest victims.
She kept talking until she got into the middle of the room where she paused and looked into the eyes of everyone in the room, daring them to say a word.
Everyone took several steps backward from her and she smiled at the fear they emitted. When no one said anything, Marcelyn walked out of the tavern into the deep call of the night feeling unstoppable.
Earl, the vampire leader for the past one thousand years, sat at the dining table along with some elders of the clan who helped him with ruling the clan and making sure everything was in order. He had just received another letter from the head of the human clan of the nearby village about his daughter, Marcelyn, and he felt sad.Why wouldn't he? He was the vampire leader and he had made the rules, but his daughter was the one breaking those rules with no regard for his reputation. If it had been any other person who did it, perhaps, it would not hurt Earl any bit, but for his daughter to break those rules meant that he would lose his authority as the leader if he didn't curb her on time.He fingered the letter again and thought about the letter he had received in the past with the same report about his daughter. He also wondered how many more letters he would get if nothing was done to stop the reason behind the letters.Earl kept fingering the words in the letter that had been writ
Marcelyn sat down immediately and Earl asked the servant to get his daughter a cup. When the servant arrived with the new cup, Earl poured his daughter a cup of vervain.Marcelyn picked up the cup and gulped down its entire content immediately. She dropped the cup with a loud sigh."Now, you are my father." She told her father with a point of her middle finger at him. She watched in horror as the finger lost its motion and dropped."You poisoned me?" She asked as she slumped into the chair she sat on."Come in," Earl commanded. Some vampires trooped in with a coffin. "Put her in." He commanded them."My lord, please reconsider," Van said and rushed over to Marcelyn. He stood protectively over her to prevent the vampires from taking her."Stand down, Van," Earl commanded. When Van didn't move, he spoke again. "That is an order," he told the younger man.Van left Marcelyn's side in regret. He watched as the men took out their extracting weapons and began to pull each of Marcelyn's f
A knock sounded on the door, distracting Darell from his thoughts, and he commanded the person to come in. Darell smiled when he saw his Beta, Chris, walk in."It is time," Chris announced to Darell. The smile that had decorated Darell's face fell instantly. For the past month, he had kept praying that, somehow, his 27th birthday would not come, but then, like a crawling child trying to get to his mother, the day hit him in the face.He was sure that if the goddess was still their leader, she would be laughing down around him."You don't have to look like someone who is being led to slaughter, Darell," Chris told him with a smile."I can't wait until it's your turn in a few months and throw your words back at you," Darell replied with a snort."Easy peasy, Alpha. I'll just keep her somewhere and go on living my life as if nothing has changed. There's no way I should be tied to one woman all my life when I could have variety.Unlike you who have no choice, being the only son and Alpha
As Darell released Chris and the door, he reflected that the time had come.Without being questioned, it was time for his life to take a drastic turn.To calm his racing heart, he let out a loud sigh before opening the door and entering.Once they all noticed him, everyone remained silent. While greeting his mother, Darell nodded in response to the salutations of the other members of his pack. The woman scowled at the exposed buttons on his shirt, but Darell didn't care.He was already experiencing a loose button if that was what he wanted."Alpha, I find it unbelievable that you are already 27 years old and have a significant other."I said, wiping an exaggerated tear from my eyes," his mother said. Before proceeding to his seat, Darell rolled his eyes at his mother's over-the-top behavior. He gave the all-clear to start the ceremony after taking a seat in the golden chair designated for the Alpha.Knowing his fate sooner rather than later was better for him. When the pack's priest e
Jude shouted to his identical twin brother, "Jayden, come and see what I just found." Jayden and his companions hurried over to hear what Jude was saying. When they arrived at the location of the other teen, Jayden hissed at his brother when he realized it was just a squirrel with a black and white striped color that was lined horizontally on the animal's fur, which had his brother squeaking for joy like a three-year-old child. Jayden watched amused as his brother pulled out his phone and started taking pictures of the squirrel, which surprisingly stood still for a while. The others expressed their annoyance by leaving Jude and the squirrel and dispersing across the mountain they were on in search of something that would make the trip to the mountain worthwhile. The brothers of the twins and a few other teenagers had gathered for an action-packed weekend. The Cyprus mountain surfaced as one of the exciting locations they could visit along with a few others when they were rese
Marcelyn noticed how dark it was when she first opened her eyes wide inside the coffin. She gathered her strength and yanked the cover covering the coffin's top that was obstructing the light. She adjusted her vampire eyes so they could see through the darkness and then she took a look around. She became immediately aware that she was in a cave. As Marcelyn rose from the corpse, she groaned in pain throughout her body. She sank back into the coffin and gave her body time to adapt to the new stage it was on. She pulled her body up, climbed out of the coffin, and stood straight once she judged that enough time had passed for her body to readjust. Her body sagged as hunger overcame her. She began to crawl on the floor using her arms and legs to prop her body forward. When she emerged from the cave, she discovered that she was surrounded by rocks and dirt. She grimaced as she considered how she could escape the area by crawling without causing any physical harm. Marcelyn stopped c
Marcelyn noticed she was still naked as she looked down at herself. As another of the large boxes stopped in front of her and the people inside yelled insults at her, shame overcame her. She turned into the first corner. She saw another box approaching and moved into its safety when she saw that it was comparatively quiet. She considered how much had changed in the years she had been asleep, which wasn't even a thousand years, as she walked away from the corner. She was aware of this because it takes that long for a new fang to grow into a sharp one after the old one has been removed. She was certain, however, that she hadn't been away from the human world for that long since her fangs were still baby ones. She turned as a sudden light flashed into her face to see another of the large boxes heading straight for her. The large box abruptly came to a stop in front of her before she could react. All of Marcelyn's resentment towards people erupted as she stared intently at the man
Her arm was too chilly for Darell to compare. To get her attention, he gave her a gentle shake, but she continued to focus on his fingers instead of him. In addition to inheriting her supernatural ancestor's purple lips, he could tell by the slight healing of her wounds that she had also gained some of their abilities. He used his wolf nose to try to determine what branch of the supernatural she belonged to, but all he detected was the scent of a woman. Delicious. In his head, he heard the wolf mutter. She needs help, so stop talking. Darellchastised his wolf. Darell continued speaking to the woman before the wolf could respond further. "Are you alright?" He questioned. Marcelyn turned her attention away from the fingers on which she had been unsuccessfully trying to make the nails grow. She found this person annoying and wished to see him go away. She wanted to slash open his neck with her long, razor-sharp claws and watch as he held the neck together to try to staunch t
As the vampires closed in on Darell and Chris, a sudden howl echoed through the castle. Darell recognized it immediately. "That's Bella," he said, relief flooding through him.Seconds later, the door burst open, and Darell's sister and her mate Sam charged into the room, followed by Sam's three brothers, Thomas, Matthew, and David. The vampires turned to face the new threat, and Darell and Chris took the opportunity to launch their attack.Bella shifted into her wolf form, her powerful jaws closing around the throat of the nearest vampire. Sam and his brothers joined in the fight, their werewolf strength overwhelming the vampires.Darell and Chris focused their attention on Marcelyn, quickly untying her from the table. "Are you okay?" Darell asked her, relief flooding through him as she nodded."I'm fine," Marcelyn said, tears still streaming down her face.Darell took her hand, pulling her towards the door. "Let's get out of here."But just as they reached the doorway, they were conf
As the vampires arrived, Marcelyn and Van fought them off, while the wizard worked on breaking the spell that had been controlling her. It was a tough battle, but they managed to hold their own against the vampires. Finally, the wizard managed to break the spell, and Marcelyn regained control of herself. She looked around, disoriented, before realizing what had happened."Thank you," she said, turning to the wizard. "I don't know how to repay you."The wizard smiled. "It's all in a day's work. I'm just glad I could help."***Darell could feel his heart pounding as he stood at the altar, looking at Hannah. She looked beautiful in her white dress, but he couldn't help feeling like he was making a mistake. He didn't love her, and he never would. As they waited for the priest to arrive, Darell's mind drifted to Marcelyn. He wondered where she was, if she was safe. He couldn't stop thinking about her, even though he knew he shouldn't. He had to focus on Hannah and their future together.B
Darell sat alone in his room, staring blankly at the wall. His mind was a mess of emotions, and he couldn't seem to shake the feeling of betrayal that hung over him like a dark cloud."What are we going to do, Darell?" Chris, asked as he walked into the room. "Marcelyn is out there attacking innocent people, and we need to stop her before she does any more damage."Darell sighed deeply. "I know, Chris, but it's not that simple. Marcelyn is my mate, and I can't just go out there and fight her like she's some kind of enemy.""But she has become way more dangerous for us Darell," Chris argued. "She's attacking our pack and causing chaos. We can't just sit back and do nothing.""I know, I know," Darell said, running a hand through his hair. "I just don't know how to approach this. I don't want to hurt Marcelyn, but at the same time, I can't let her continue to hurt innocent people."There was a knock on the door, and Darell's head snapped up. "Who is it?""It's me, Jake," a voice called f
Darell hung up the phone, feeling both relieved and frustrated. He knew that he needed to keep the peace in the pack, but he couldn't help feeling like his own desires and happiness were being pushed aside for the greater good.Meanwhile, Marcelyn was still on the run. She had managed to evade capture so far, but she knew that it was only a matter of time before Darell and his pack caught up with her. She had returned to her old ways, feeding on innocent humans and reveling in her power. But even as she reveled in her newfound freedom, Marcelyn couldn't help feeling a sense of emptiness. She had loved Darell deeply, and the thought of never seeing him again made her heart ache. She had never felt so alone in her entire life.As the days passed, Darell and his pack continued to search for Marcelyn. They followed every lead they could find, but she seemed to have disappeared completely. Darell was beginning to feel hopeless, and he couldn't help wondering if he would ever see Marcelyn a
Aimea's expression remained unchanged. "I hope you do, son. But until then, your mate will remain in our custody."Darell knew he wasn't going to get anywhere with his mother. He turned on his heel and stormed out of the pack house, with Chris following closely behind him.As they got into the car, Chris turned to Darell. "What are we going to do now?"Darell sighed. "We need to find out who is really responsible for the killings. I have a feeling that Marcelyn is just a scapegoat."Chris nodded. "Where do we start?"Darell thought for a moment. "We need to talk to some witnesses. Maybe they saw something that could help us."They spent the rest of the day interviewing people who lived in the area where the killings had occurred. Most of them were too scared to talk, but they did manage to find a few who were willing to share their experiences. One woman, a human named Sarah, told them that she had seen a large wolf-like creature near the scene of one of the killings. She described it
"What the hell are you doing, Hannah?" he demanded, taking in the scene in front of him.Hannah was caught off guard, but she quickly composed herself. "I was just checking on Marcelyn," she said, holding up her empty hands.Darell's eyes narrowed as he looked at her. "I don't believe you. You were about to do something bad to her, weren't you?""No I was just coming to check on her" Aimea said, with tears coming out from her eyes. When Darell saw her crying, he was moved with compassion and decided to believe what she was saying. Darell moved close to her and embraced her."I am sorry Hannah, I never meant to make you feel bad, maybe I was imagining things". Darell said."It's okay, Darell it's not your fault, Hannah said, holding Darell tightly. While they were holding each other, Marcelyn woke up and saw them."What's happening here?" Marcelyn asked. And immediately Darell removed his hand from Hannah."What's going on here Darell and why are you holding her like that?" Marcelyn sa
Hannah took a deep breath. "It's about Marcelyn. I know that she doesn't like me, but I just can't take it anymore. She's always picking fights and making me feel like I'm not welcome here. And now she's accusing me of even flirting with you!"Darell raised an eyebrow. "Flirting with me? What do you mean?"Hannah bit her lip, looking down. "She said I am always touching you, and talking to you in that sultry voice of mine. It's clear that she's trying to find a reason to fight with me again, and it's making me feel so uncomfortable."Darell sighed, shaking his head. "Hannah, you're just imagining things. Marcelyn would never say something like that."Hannah shook her head. "No, Darell, I'm not imagining things. I know what I heard, and I know what I feel. I just can't keep living like this. I need to leave."Darell's eyes widened. "Leave? What do you mean?"Hannah looked at him, tears streaming down her face. "I can't stay here, Darell. Not with Marcelyn always fighting with me, and n
"I know you're not happy about Hannah living with us, but I want to assure you that everything will be fine. She's a good person and she won't do anything to harm us," Darell said, taking her hand.Marcelyn pulled her hand away. "I'm not so sure about that, not with all my experiences with her. I feel threatened by her presence."Darell shook his head. "There's no need to feel threatened. You're the only one I love, Marcelyn. And I promise to do everything I can to make you feel comfortable."Marcelyn looked at him, her eyes softening. "I know you mean well, Darell. But it's just hard for me to accept Hannah after all she has done to me, I suspect she is up to something."Darell took her in his arms, holding her close. "I understand. But I hope you can give Hannah a chance. Who knows, she might surprise you and even change for good."Marcelyn hesitated, but eventually nodded. "I'll try, Darell. For you."Darell smiled, relieved that Marcelyn was willing to try. He knew it wouldn't be
Amanda, Hannah, and Rajan walked wearily back to their homes after failing to find any information about Marcelyn. Amanda's mind was still reeling from their recent battle with the vampires. As they walked, they discussed the events of the night, trying to make sense of what had happened."I can't believe we actually did it," Rajan said, shaking his head in disbelief. "We took down an entire nest of vampires." Hannah nodded in agreement, but Amanda remained quiet. Her thoughts were elsewhere, wondering what the future held for her daughter. Amanda, Hannah, and Rajan made their way back home, exhausted from the intense battle with the vampires. As they walked, they discussed their failure to find out anything about Marcelyn and how to make Darell to change his mind from her. When they arrived home, Amanda was surprised to receive a message from Aimea, Alpha Darell's mother. The message requested Amanda and Hannah's presence at her secret chamber for a meeting concerning Darell's marr
