A knock sounded on the door, distracting Darell from his thoughts, and he commanded the person to come in.
Darell smiled when he saw his Beta, Chris, walk in.
"It is time," Chris announced to Darell. The smile that had decorated Darell's face fell instantly. For the past month, he had kept praying that, somehow, his 27th birthday would not come, but then, like a crawling child trying to get to his mother, the day hit him in the face.
He was sure that if the goddess was still their leader, she would be laughing down around him.
"You don't have to look like someone who is being led to slaughter, Darell," Chris told him with a smile."I can't wait until it's your turn in a few months and throw your words back at you," Darell replied with a snort."Easy peasy, Alpha. I'll just keep her somewhere and go on living my life as if nothing has changed. There's no way I should be tied to one woman all my life when I could have variety.
Unlike you who have no choice, being the only son and Alpha," Chris said with a shrug.
Darell picked up a book on his desk and tried to hurl it at the other man.He stopped when his sister, Bella, opened the door and walked in.
Here comes trouble, Darell thought and quickly dropped the book in his hands on the desk.
He watched as she hissed at Chris before she fixed her gaze on her elder brother.
"Mother said to call you." She announced to him."Hey, sugar," Chris called to her. His voice dripped with sarcasm as he said the words."Did you hear a tiny wolf speak a few seconds ago, Darell?" Bella asked her brother.Darell saw Chris's brown eyes shoot fireballs at his sister. As he opened his mouth to say something back to her, Darell grabbed his beta by the arm and dragged him out.
Darell knew that if he didn't do that, then war was sure to break out between the two people he loved.
He could never understand why his beta and his sister hated each other in such a tremendous way.
It was critical to the point that the two of them could never be left alone in a room just for a minute.
Darell was sure one would have killed the other.
"She's my sister, you know," Darell told his beta, who was also the only one Darell could call a friend."Teach her some manners then," Chris retorted and looked behind them.Darell looked back too and saw Bella making the 'fuck you' finger at his friend.
He grunted and held Chris firmly as his beta tried to free himself.
"Chris, behave. She's just a girl." He told his beta. "Lisha, behave too. Chris is my beta," Darell told his younger sister."Good for him," Bella said with a voice that clearly said that she didn't care what position Chris held in the clan. Before either of the men could give any reply, she walked past them into the hall full of the entire Piker Pack members.
It was time, Darell thought as he let go of Chris and the door.It was time to have his life take a drastic turn without being asked if it was what he wanted.
He sighed audibly to still his racing heart, then he opened the door and walked in.
Everyone kept mute as soon as they saw him.
Darell nodded his head to respond to the greetings of his pack members as he walked to his mother to greet her.
Darell was thinking when he heard a knock on the door. He told the person to come in.When Chris, his Beta, walked in, Darell grinned.
Darell was informed by Chris that "the time has come."Darell's previously adorning smile abruptly disappeared. He had been pleading for his 27th birthday to somehow escape him for the previous month, but it suddenly struck him in the face like a child trying to crawl to his mother.
If the goddess was still in charge of them, he was certain that she would be laughing in his general direction.
Chris smiled and said, "You don't have to look like someone who is being led to slaughter, Darell.Darell snorted back, "I can't wait until it's your turn in a few months and throw your words back at you."Simple as pie, Alpha. I'll just store her away and carry on with my life as usual. When I can have a variety of women, there is no way I will ever be committed to just one.
Being the only son and Alpha, you have no other option, unlike you," Chris shrugged.
Darell attempted to throw a book that was on his desk at the other man. When Bella, his sister, opened the door and entered, he came to a stop.
Darell quickly threw the book he was holding back onto the desk, thinking, "This is going to be trouble."
He observed her hissing at Chris before she turned to look at her older brother.
Mother instructed me to call you. She told him.Chris called to her, "Hey, sugar." As he spoke, sarcasm could be heard permeating his voice.Bella questioned her brother, "Did you hear a tiny squeak just now, Darell?"Chris was aiming fireballs at his sister with his brown eyes, which Darell saw.Darell seized his beta's arm and dragged him outside as he opened his mouth to respond to her.
The two people Darell loved would undoubtedly go to war if he didn't do that, Darell knew.
He never understood why his beta and his sister had such intense animosity toward one another.
The two of them couldn't ever be left alone in a room, even for a brief period, due to how important it was.
Darell was certain that either would have killed the other.
Darell explained to his beta—the only person he could refer to as a friend—that "she's my sister, you know."Chris responded, looking back at them, "Teach her some manners then."Bella was pointing the "fuck you" finger at Darell's friend as he turned around.
He grunted and tightened his grip on Chris as his beta tried to break free.
"Chris, be proper. She is merely a girl. He informed his beta. "Bel, act properly too. " Chris is my beta," Darell said to his younger sister.Bella said, "Good for him," in a tone that made it clear she didn't give a damn about Chris's place in the clan. Before either of the men could respond, she walked past them into the room filled with the entire Piker Pack.As Darell released Chris and the door, he reflected that the time had come.Without being questioned, it was time for his life to take a drastic turn.To calm his racing heart, he let out a loud sigh before opening the door and entering.Once they all noticed him, everyone remained silent. While greeting his mother, Darell nodded in response to the salutations of the other members of his pack. The woman scowled at the exposed buttons on his shirt, but Darell didn't care.He was already experiencing a loose button if that was what he wanted."Alpha, I find it unbelievable that you are already 27 years old and have a significant other."I said, wiping an exaggerated tear from my eyes," his mother said. Before proceeding to his seat, Darell rolled his eyes at his mother's over-the-top behavior. He gave the all-clear to start the ceremony after taking a seat in the golden chair designated for the Alpha.Knowing his fate sooner rather than later was better for him. When the pack's priest e
Jude shouted to his identical twin brother, "Jayden, come and see what I just found." Jayden and his companions hurried over to hear what Jude was saying. When they arrived at the location of the other teen, Jayden hissed at his brother when he realized it was just a squirrel with a black and white striped color that was lined horizontally on the animal's fur, which had his brother squeaking for joy like a three-year-old child. Jayden watched amused as his brother pulled out his phone and started taking pictures of the squirrel, which surprisingly stood still for a while. The others expressed their annoyance by leaving Jude and the squirrel and dispersing across the mountain they were on in search of something that would make the trip to the mountain worthwhile. The brothers of the twins and a few other teenagers had gathered for an action-packed weekend. The Cyprus mountain surfaced as one of the exciting locations they could visit along with a few others when they were rese
Marcelyn noticed how dark it was when she first opened her eyes wide inside the coffin. She gathered her strength and yanked the cover covering the coffin's top that was obstructing the light. She adjusted her vampire eyes so they could see through the darkness and then she took a look around. She became immediately aware that she was in a cave. As Marcelyn rose from the corpse, she groaned in pain throughout her body. She sank back into the coffin and gave her body time to adapt to the new stage it was on. She pulled her body up, climbed out of the coffin, and stood straight once she judged that enough time had passed for her body to readjust. Her body sagged as hunger overcame her. She began to crawl on the floor using her arms and legs to prop her body forward. When she emerged from the cave, she discovered that she was surrounded by rocks and dirt. She grimaced as she considered how she could escape the area by crawling without causing any physical harm. Marcelyn stopped c
Marcelyn noticed she was still naked as she looked down at herself. As another of the large boxes stopped in front of her and the people inside yelled insults at her, shame overcame her. She turned into the first corner. She saw another box approaching and moved into its safety when she saw that it was comparatively quiet. She considered how much had changed in the years she had been asleep, which wasn't even a thousand years, as she walked away from the corner. She was aware of this because it takes that long for a new fang to grow into a sharp one after the old one has been removed. She was certain, however, that she hadn't been away from the human world for that long since her fangs were still baby ones. She turned as a sudden light flashed into her face to see another of the large boxes heading straight for her. The large box abruptly came to a stop in front of her before she could react. All of Marcelyn's resentment towards people erupted as she stared intently at the man
Her arm was too chilly for Darell to compare. To get her attention, he gave her a gentle shake, but she continued to focus on his fingers instead of him. In addition to inheriting her supernatural ancestor's purple lips, he could tell by the slight healing of her wounds that she had also gained some of their abilities. He used his wolf nose to try to determine what branch of the supernatural she belonged to, but all he detected was the scent of a woman. Delicious. In his head, he heard the wolf mutter. She needs help, so stop talking. Darellchastised his wolf. Darell continued speaking to the woman before the wolf could respond further. "Are you alright?" He questioned. Marcelyn turned her attention away from the fingers on which she had been unsuccessfully trying to make the nails grow. She found this person annoying and wished to see him go away. She wanted to slash open his neck with her long, razor-sharp claws and watch as he held the neck together to try to staunch t
Darell pushed Marcelyn again and this time he managed to push her away from him. But when Marcelyn saw that she was about to land on her back, she grabbed Darell's t-shirt to stop her fall and pulled him into the fight. As they both fell to the bare floor, Darell noticed that his chest had landed on the woman's chest and was still pressed against it, and the desire returned to him. He lifts his chest from the contact, but it only causes his cock to slide perfectly into the woman's core. Immediately, her feminine spirit enveloped Dare. He could smell the wonderful scent of her arousal and knew he would too. For a few seconds, his blue eyes changed from their original color to the fiery blue he sees whenever he transforms into a wolf. He blinked and closed those sea-blue eyes. The wolf whined in his head, begging to be let go as Darell tried to silence him by closing his eyes. "Mine!" His wolf said loudly. Darell asked his wolf, "Mine?" "Ours." His wolf replied once m
Darell remained still as he observed her walk away. He soon went back after her. This time, Marcelyn didn't turn to confront him with any inquiries. The 27-year-old Darell was caught off guard as the woman yanked a sharp branch from a nearby honey locust tree and targeted his jugular vein. She stared directly into his ocean-blue eyes, recalling her state as she could see a reflection of herself in them while still completely naked. She screamed, maintaining eye contact with her would-be victim, "If I can't dig into your neck, this will do the work for me, okay?" Her foul breath irritated Marcelyn's nose and was revolting. He turned his attention away from her as his nose twitched in response to the smell. Marcelyn, who became aware of her foul breath. Though she pretended not to feel embarrassed, she felt it again. She was still threatening him. It was in her nature, that was the kind of mechanism Marcelyn had within her, so it was impossible not to threaten. "Respond t
He had eyes the color of the ocean, and she looked directly into them. She could see a reflection of her naked self there, which reminded her of her condition, but she quickly dismissed the idea. She screamed, maintaining eye contact with her would-be victim, "If I can't dig into your neck, this will do the work for me, okay?"Darell's nose pricked from her foul breath. The smell made him twitch his nose, and he turned his head away from her.Marcelyn, who became aware of her foul breath.Though she pretended not to feel embarrassed, she felt it again. She wasn't quite done threatening him."Reply to me!"With his hands in front of his nose, Darell sneezed.Darell said calmly, more out of concern about getting her odor stuck in his nostrils than out of fear of her."I'll make good on my word that if you don't back off, this will end in your veins." Marcelyn vowed, her jaws clenching as she said, "I won't warn you the next time."Her face was now only a few inches away from Darell's.
As the vampires closed in on Darell and Chris, a sudden howl echoed through the castle. Darell recognized it immediately. "That's Bella," he said, relief flooding through him.Seconds later, the door burst open, and Darell's sister and her mate Sam charged into the room, followed by Sam's three brothers, Thomas, Matthew, and David. The vampires turned to face the new threat, and Darell and Chris took the opportunity to launch their attack.Bella shifted into her wolf form, her powerful jaws closing around the throat of the nearest vampire. Sam and his brothers joined in the fight, their werewolf strength overwhelming the vampires.Darell and Chris focused their attention on Marcelyn, quickly untying her from the table. "Are you okay?" Darell asked her, relief flooding through him as she nodded."I'm fine," Marcelyn said, tears still streaming down her face.Darell took her hand, pulling her towards the door. "Let's get out of here."But just as they reached the doorway, they were conf
As the vampires arrived, Marcelyn and Van fought them off, while the wizard worked on breaking the spell that had been controlling her. It was a tough battle, but they managed to hold their own against the vampires. Finally, the wizard managed to break the spell, and Marcelyn regained control of herself. She looked around, disoriented, before realizing what had happened."Thank you," she said, turning to the wizard. "I don't know how to repay you."The wizard smiled. "It's all in a day's work. I'm just glad I could help."***Darell could feel his heart pounding as he stood at the altar, looking at Hannah. She looked beautiful in her white dress, but he couldn't help feeling like he was making a mistake. He didn't love her, and he never would. As they waited for the priest to arrive, Darell's mind drifted to Marcelyn. He wondered where she was, if she was safe. He couldn't stop thinking about her, even though he knew he shouldn't. He had to focus on Hannah and their future together.B
Darell sat alone in his room, staring blankly at the wall. His mind was a mess of emotions, and he couldn't seem to shake the feeling of betrayal that hung over him like a dark cloud."What are we going to do, Darell?" Chris, asked as he walked into the room. "Marcelyn is out there attacking innocent people, and we need to stop her before she does any more damage."Darell sighed deeply. "I know, Chris, but it's not that simple. Marcelyn is my mate, and I can't just go out there and fight her like she's some kind of enemy.""But she has become way more dangerous for us Darell," Chris argued. "She's attacking our pack and causing chaos. We can't just sit back and do nothing.""I know, I know," Darell said, running a hand through his hair. "I just don't know how to approach this. I don't want to hurt Marcelyn, but at the same time, I can't let her continue to hurt innocent people."There was a knock on the door, and Darell's head snapped up. "Who is it?""It's me, Jake," a voice called f
Darell hung up the phone, feeling both relieved and frustrated. He knew that he needed to keep the peace in the pack, but he couldn't help feeling like his own desires and happiness were being pushed aside for the greater good.Meanwhile, Marcelyn was still on the run. She had managed to evade capture so far, but she knew that it was only a matter of time before Darell and his pack caught up with her. She had returned to her old ways, feeding on innocent humans and reveling in her power. But even as she reveled in her newfound freedom, Marcelyn couldn't help feeling a sense of emptiness. She had loved Darell deeply, and the thought of never seeing him again made her heart ache. She had never felt so alone in her entire life.As the days passed, Darell and his pack continued to search for Marcelyn. They followed every lead they could find, but she seemed to have disappeared completely. Darell was beginning to feel hopeless, and he couldn't help wondering if he would ever see Marcelyn a
Aimea's expression remained unchanged. "I hope you do, son. But until then, your mate will remain in our custody."Darell knew he wasn't going to get anywhere with his mother. He turned on his heel and stormed out of the pack house, with Chris following closely behind him.As they got into the car, Chris turned to Darell. "What are we going to do now?"Darell sighed. "We need to find out who is really responsible for the killings. I have a feeling that Marcelyn is just a scapegoat."Chris nodded. "Where do we start?"Darell thought for a moment. "We need to talk to some witnesses. Maybe they saw something that could help us."They spent the rest of the day interviewing people who lived in the area where the killings had occurred. Most of them were too scared to talk, but they did manage to find a few who were willing to share their experiences. One woman, a human named Sarah, told them that she had seen a large wolf-like creature near the scene of one of the killings. She described it
"What the hell are you doing, Hannah?" he demanded, taking in the scene in front of him.Hannah was caught off guard, but she quickly composed herself. "I was just checking on Marcelyn," she said, holding up her empty hands.Darell's eyes narrowed as he looked at her. "I don't believe you. You were about to do something bad to her, weren't you?""No I was just coming to check on her" Aimea said, with tears coming out from her eyes. When Darell saw her crying, he was moved with compassion and decided to believe what she was saying. Darell moved close to her and embraced her."I am sorry Hannah, I never meant to make you feel bad, maybe I was imagining things". Darell said."It's okay, Darell it's not your fault, Hannah said, holding Darell tightly. While they were holding each other, Marcelyn woke up and saw them."What's happening here?" Marcelyn asked. And immediately Darell removed his hand from Hannah."What's going on here Darell and why are you holding her like that?" Marcelyn sa
Hannah took a deep breath. "It's about Marcelyn. I know that she doesn't like me, but I just can't take it anymore. She's always picking fights and making me feel like I'm not welcome here. And now she's accusing me of even flirting with you!"Darell raised an eyebrow. "Flirting with me? What do you mean?"Hannah bit her lip, looking down. "She said I am always touching you, and talking to you in that sultry voice of mine. It's clear that she's trying to find a reason to fight with me again, and it's making me feel so uncomfortable."Darell sighed, shaking his head. "Hannah, you're just imagining things. Marcelyn would never say something like that."Hannah shook her head. "No, Darell, I'm not imagining things. I know what I heard, and I know what I feel. I just can't keep living like this. I need to leave."Darell's eyes widened. "Leave? What do you mean?"Hannah looked at him, tears streaming down her face. "I can't stay here, Darell. Not with Marcelyn always fighting with me, and n
"I know you're not happy about Hannah living with us, but I want to assure you that everything will be fine. She's a good person and she won't do anything to harm us," Darell said, taking her hand.Marcelyn pulled her hand away. "I'm not so sure about that, not with all my experiences with her. I feel threatened by her presence."Darell shook his head. "There's no need to feel threatened. You're the only one I love, Marcelyn. And I promise to do everything I can to make you feel comfortable."Marcelyn looked at him, her eyes softening. "I know you mean well, Darell. But it's just hard for me to accept Hannah after all she has done to me, I suspect she is up to something."Darell took her in his arms, holding her close. "I understand. But I hope you can give Hannah a chance. Who knows, she might surprise you and even change for good."Marcelyn hesitated, but eventually nodded. "I'll try, Darell. For you."Darell smiled, relieved that Marcelyn was willing to try. He knew it wouldn't be
Amanda, Hannah, and Rajan walked wearily back to their homes after failing to find any information about Marcelyn. Amanda's mind was still reeling from their recent battle with the vampires. As they walked, they discussed the events of the night, trying to make sense of what had happened."I can't believe we actually did it," Rajan said, shaking his head in disbelief. "We took down an entire nest of vampires." Hannah nodded in agreement, but Amanda remained quiet. Her thoughts were elsewhere, wondering what the future held for her daughter. Amanda, Hannah, and Rajan made their way back home, exhausted from the intense battle with the vampires. As they walked, they discussed their failure to find out anything about Marcelyn and how to make Darell to change his mind from her. When they arrived home, Amanda was surprised to receive a message from Aimea, Alpha Darell's mother. The message requested Amanda and Hannah's presence at her secret chamber for a meeting concerning Darell's marr
