Now that Renée and Delilah were settled and talking and we'd finished lunch, Daemon delved into the main reason for the meeting. Tyler and me.

"While we were in the Fae realm, Avril ended an engagement contract with a Fae named Neri due to finding her true fated mate," began Daemon. "The father of her ex-fiancé, Duan, was less than pleased, shall we say, and Adriana and I overheard them conspiring to kill Tyler and force Avril to marry Neri."

There were gasps from around the room.

"What is the purpose of this?" asked Adam.

"The ultimate purpose is to gain access to the Fae throne, which absolutely stuns me," I answered, "since I am not next in line to gain the throne. To do that, they would need to assassinate my mother and my eldest sister."

"So this Neri wants to become a king?" asked Charlotte.

"He would never be a king, no matter what," I explained. "The only time there is ever a king is when there are no female children to ascend and only males. My brother c
