Chapter 49

“Ms. Faith, we have a problem. Two of our models had an emergency and they said they wouldn't be able to make it today,” if I was the same old Faith, I would definitely panic and be nervous.

All of them stopped working when one of my employees in my company here said that a bit loudly. Today is the day that I have been waiting for. Another runway of mine will be done and I will not let anyone ruin this for me. It must be me who should ruin the lives of the people that I am expecting to come again.

My brows simply arched at her. “And so?”

I heard how they were flustered with how I responded. I was wearing my blank face at her, but my eyes’ sharpness couldn't be hidden. They have no idea what I will do, it's inevitable.

“Ms. Faith,” I heard my old secretary called my name beside me. I didn't look at her as I kept my eyes at the man in front of me.

“Is that my problem? Why did I even hire you if you don't know how to do problem solving?”

They started to murmur around and I remained acting like that. What? Are they surprised by how I acted because the Faith they know wouldn't do things like this?

“Faith, enough.” Brian uttered beside me, calming me down.

“Enough? I'm the CEO here, Brian. Besides, I am not paying them to let me do all the work, too. I gave all of you two damn months to settle everything and this will happen? And so what if those two models can't go? Go and find someone who can replace them!”

The deafening silence invaded the entire venue. None of them couldn't go back to their on-going work with the scene that I created.

“I'm sorry. She's just tired from the flight,”

I chuckled immediately when Brian tried to cover me up. All their eyes are pinned at me.

“I'm not tired. Go and find someone who can replace them! I am not tolerating stupid actions here anymore! Bullshit,” I turned my back to them as I marched out a bit away from them.

I came back to the chair where I was sitting earlier and tried to cool myself down.

“Are you alright, Ms. Faith?” She asked. I wasn't surprised when I saw how worried she was.

“Of course,” I replied.

“Tell me if you need anything. Maybe you're just tired, that's why you acted like that,” I smirked unbelievably as I glanced at her.

Why do they keep gaslighting themselves that I am just tired?

“Didn’t you hear what I said earlier? I'm not fucking tired.” I made that so clear that I have to emphasize those words.

She was stunned. I witnessed how she paused while staring at me with those eyes filled with questions and confusion. She's probably thinking if I am being surreal.

“I…I'm just surprised. Y-You're not like that before,” exactly. How long do they need to realize that the old Faith they met before is already dead?

“That Faith is dead. Start getting use of me now,” I uttered.

“S-Sure. I’ll…I'll go and check everything for later,” she said before she hurriedly left me there with Brian being silent beside me.

“Don't be like this to them, Faith. These are the people you first worked with. They are the people who helped you when you were just starting,” Brian is now starting to lecture me again with my attitude. Do I not have the freedom to scold them? I'm the one paying them after all.

“What am I doing? I'm the boss, and I'm playing my role here,” I began to smoke around. This is how I cope with everything.

“Cigarettes are dangerous in this kind of place, especially now that you have an event and they are settling everything.”

“I won't burn the place and ruin my own runway, Brian.” I heard how he sighed, surrendering already. I know that he wouldn't be able to win an argument over me.

“I don't know what to do to you. Do whatever you want,” I didn't glance at him even when he left me there alone. I knew that he was already upset, but I have known Brian for so long already. He would never be able to ignore me all day. He would always melt for me and he knows that I will never give in with his attitude.

Ms. Faith, you have a call.” My secretary came back, couldn't even stare at me anymore when she handed me my phone. I saw how her lips parted, too, when she saw me smoking.

I feigned ignorance as I took the call.

“Yes, Lily?” It was a video call. I saw Lucas beside her, waving at me.

“I thought that man was busy?”

“He is busy. I just stopped by the place where they were shooting,” Lily replied.

“How's everything going there?” Lucas now asked. I quickly pouted and blew out a light sigh.

“Everything’s a bit messy,” I uttered. “But don't worry, the runway will be impeccable later.”

“As it should, Faith. Besides, you're gonna show up to people after four years. I'm sure Elijah would be there,”

“Is he really attending the runway every year?” Lucas asked again. He has been asking us for four years that we have been watching their actions as well.

“We already gave you evidence and you still don't believe it? Fuck you,” Lily was annoyed when she already rolled her eyes to her cousin.

“Shut up. By the way, where's Brian? Is he busy?” My brows raised and I couldn't say anything. They got used of Brian and I fighting like this. Brian is like a father who's lecturing me everytime I become harsh and rude to people.

“You fought again, didn't you?” Lily guessed it right. I assume she could see it right through my face.

“Ugh. He was lecturing me with the attitude I showed to my people here,” I shook my head with annoyance over Brian.

“Why? Are they surprised with how you acted?” Lucas chuckled and shook his head.

“Of course, they will be! You were so different from the Faith they know,”

“Anyway, I have to go now. I still have to prepare for later,” I didn't have a good rest ever since Brian and I arrived yesterday.

“Alright. Good luck, Faith!” Lily exclaimed with her high spirits.

“Call us tomorrow, okay? Take care!” I simply waved my hand to the two of them before I hung up the call.

After that, we just waited for the right time to start the runway. I was already backstage, perfectly ready to go there later and show up after not being seen for four years.

“The people are tripled from before,” my secretary delivered to me. I only nodded as I threw my cigarette, stepped on it and crashed it.

“Is Elijah there?” I saw in my peripheral vision how surprised she was when I asked that. Who doesn't know about my divorce with him? The entire world knows how my marriage failed. Thinking about it, it started miserable and it didn't go well just like what I thought. Instead, it ruined me even more, it shattered me even more.

“He's here every year,” she still replied, beyond being flustered. Who wouldn't be surprised? I asked her about Elijah like it was nothing to me.

“Make sure that he stays until the end,” I commanded firmly as I looked at her. She was the one who moved her eyes away as if she already terrifies me.

I waited there for a moment until all the models showed my new designs and collection to the people. I was wearing a black gown that was glimmering along the night. It was sleeveless where my cleavage could be seen and the impeccable shape of my body was engraved on it.

“For four years, we haven't seen the one behind all our successful designs. But right now, I am glad to announce that the most popular fashion designer behind the CHARM is here!”

I heard how the crowd began to murmur about it. I can imagine all their faces right now. I crumpled both of my hands while waiting for the emcee to call me. It's been so many years since I last did this. I was standing firmly right there, wearing my ferocious eyes made of hatred and pain.

The time that I have been waiting for has come.

“Let us all welcome, the CEO and the designer of CHARMS Collections, Ms. Faith Flamera! Let's give her a big round of applause!”

The moment the emcee yelled that out loud, the two blocking in the stage that was hiding me there opened and I slowly saw all the audience. Most of their lips are parted, but I was only searching for one man.

I began to walk there without even painting a small smile on my lips. I walked with power, authority, and with the new me that they would never wish to meet. As I stood in the middle and in front of everyone, I finally found the man that I was looking for in this event.

Elijah.

I intentionally crossed his eyes that were already breaking down. I witnessed how surprised he was that he could not utter a single word from there.

Why are you surprised to see me, Elijah? You were the one who asked for this, right? That was what was running in my head.

Brian joined me on the stage and handed me the bouquet before the emcee gave me the mic as well.

“This is what I only want to say tonight,” all eyes are on me. They didn't look at anyone else but me. Even their ears are all glued at me, listening to every word that I will let go.

I glanced at Elijah once again with the beast inside me that I took care of for four fucking years growling in anger.

“I'm back,”
