Elaine's Pov

I woke up with a start, looking at the place I was in. Panic filled my mind as I jumped down from the bed. It was dark, and cold. I tried to run out of the room, I banged the doors open and then, I saw a small light which I ran towards.

It felt like salvation from my nightmares. My bare feet padded quickly on the ground, and I stopped right in front of the light. A face I so easily recognised was in front of me.

“Zade.” I muttered breathlessly, my legs pushing me forward. I wanted to stop walking towards him, but I couldn't. It was like I was hypnotised and I walked directly into his embrace, wrapping my arms around his midsection. I needed comfort, and right now, he was the only one that could give it to me. The only one that I could trust.

“Elaine.” His voice was low, barely above a whisper, but it cut through the silence like a knife. The way he said my name, it was almost possessive, sending a shiver down my spine. I hadn’t meant to run to him, but
