Lyra's Pov

My head throbbed with an unbearable ache as I stumbled along the path toward the Moon Pack. Each step felt heavier than the last, my thoughts clouded by Lucian’s voice echoing in my mind, his threats, his anger, and the pain he inflicted. Why had I ever thought I could escape him? Why had I let myself believe that Varg’s room could be a sanctuary?

The memory replayed vividly, tormenting me with every detail. I had been asleep, curled up on the bed, certain the door was locked. Varg had locked it himself before leaving. But the crash of the door bursting open jolted me awake, and there he was, Lucian, his rage more terrifying than I had ever seen.

He didn’t say a word before grabbing my arm and yanking me out of the room. I begged him to leave me alone, pleaded with him to stop, but it only seemed to fuel his fury. He dragged me down the hall and shoved me to the floor. I landed hard, my palms stinging against the cold surface as I looked up at him.

Lyra was out there, being used as a pawn by Lucian, and I couldn’t sit by any longer. I didn’t know if confronting him head-on was the smartest idea, but at that moment, it was the only plan I had. And I was damn sure going to follow through.“Varg!” Jacob’s voice rang out as I swung my leg over the bike. “Where are you heading? Without another word, I revved the engine and sped off toward the woods, the bike roaring beneath me.But Jacob, stubborn as ever, ignored my silent plea. He jumped into his car and followed close behind, shouting after me. “Varg! What do you think you’re doing? Don’t go charging in there without thinking!”His words barely registered. • Her Chosen Mate   1. Accused

Lyra's POVThe moon was blood-red the day a powerful Alpha was murdered—Serene Moon, the leader of the most outstanding pack in the northern part of Norway. She was fierce, strong, and she was my mother.I had just returned from my lonely walk to the garden, secluded in the farthest corner of our marked territory. As I made my way back, I couldn’t ignore the glares my kind shot at me. They hated me for what they believed was forbidden. I was the only one who possessed the trait the prophecy had foretold could bring about the end of our pack—red irises.I brushed off the side of my dark brown, knee-length dress, straightening the folds from leaning so close to the ground to pluck the fine roses my mother loved. We used to pick them together, since I was like an outcast in my pack. I had no friends, no one to talk to except my mother, who had tried many times to shed light on their false beliefs. I had once hoped my mate would be from our pack, but that dream had long since faded. My mo

Every step sent a wave of dread through me, but I didn’t dare lift my head. I was too afraid of what I might see.“Lower your weapon,” the voice commanded, cold and unwavering.Frederick hesitated, his grip tightening on the sacred blade. “Who are you to come here and try to stop me?” he growled, his voice strained with frustration. The man took a step closer, his presence commanding, as the rest of the pack members snarled, ready to attack. But he didn’t flinch or show any sign of fear. “I am Lucian, Alpha of the Blackwood Pack.”Frederick’s eyes widened in shock, and I could feel the sudden tension rippling through the pack. Lucian’s name held power, and it was clear they recognized it.Without hesitation, Lucian reached down and graspe

Varg POV “Varg!” the crowd chanted as I stepped into the ring. Two brunettes standing nearby took off my black, sleeveless jacket. I eyed the man across from me, tall, broad, with a round belly and thick, strong arms. I scoffed at his appearance; this wasn’t the opponent I had expected.I wanted a real challenge, someone stronger. Seeing this man as my opponent made me wonder if the manager who set up this fight was mocking me or doubting my winning streak. Despite having won nearly thirty matches since I’d started fighting in this underground arena, they still had the fucking nerve to pick an opponent like this.“You little whelp, I’m going to put you in your place with the rest of those fools who brought you here,” the man growled, giving off the same hostile energy I felt.I didn’t respond. As much as I wanted to put him in his place with a few words, I figured it’d be better to let my actions speak. I cracked my knuckles, my red eyes blazing with a fire I was more than ready to u

The sound echoed in the room, but he didn’t flinch. He sat there, his composure infuriatingly unshaken, refusing to show even a hint of fear. “You’re the one who’s been after revenge ever since we moved into the Blackwood pack.”He smirked, his lips curling into something cold and condescending. Varg's Pov I pulled into the driveway of the Dom mansion, my pulse quickening with urgency. The fight had drained me, but something inside me, an instinct, a pull, drove me to rush inside. I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. My mind raced with thoughts of Lyra.I pushed through the door, my feet moving faster than my thoughts. The hallways felt colder than usual as I rushed toward my room, a knot tightening in my stomach. But when I reached my door, I froze. It wasn’t just slightly ajar, this door had been forced open. Panic gripped me, and my heart skipped a beat.“Lyra?” I called out, my voice laced with fear as I stepped into the room. The silence was deafening. The room was eerily quiet, too quiet. Everything was perfectly in place, the room neat and untouched, except for one glaring detail. She wasn’t here. The bed was made, the furniture in its usual order, but Lyra’s absence filled the room like a heavy shadow.I took another step forward, my heart hammering

For a moment, it seemed like she wanted to say something but hesitated. I paused, studying her expression. “Got something to tell me?” I asked, my tone softer. She smiled faintly and shook her head. “Nope, it’s just… it’s going to feel kinda lonely staying here all alone,” she mumbled, her voice tinged with vulnerability.I sighed, stepping closer to her. “I get it. I really do. But the safest place for you right now is here. If I could stay, I would.” My words carried the weight of truth, but they didn’t seem to offer much comfort. Before I could decide whether to leave her with just words, she stood up and closed the distance between us. Her lips met mine in a kiss that took me off guard but left me wanting more.
