Lyra's POV

I gripped the edge of the bed, breathing deeply as I pushed myself up, ignoring the dull throb in my injured leg. Light’s soup and my wolf’s healing had worked wonders, though I wasn’t fully recovered. Slowly, I lowered my feet onto the cold, tiled floor. The chill against my skin sent a shiver up my spine, grounding me as I placed my second foot down and carefully steadied myself.

Step by step, I moved toward the window. The breeze swept into the room, carrying with it the earthy scent of the forest and the faint hum of voices in the distance. The gray sky stretched out before me, vast and beautiful, a contrast to the turmoil brewing inside me.

I rested my hand on the windowsill, letting the cool air brush against my skin, my hair shifting gently with the wind. For a moment, I closed my eyes, embracing the fleeting peace.

The creak of the door broke the moment. I turned to see Light storming in, her expression tight with anger. But as her eyes landed on me standing on my

Lyra's Pov The words hit me like a thunderclap, freezing me in place. My mind raced, the room spinning as if the walls were closing in. “No,” I whispered, shaking my head, my voice trembling. “That’s not possible. It can’t be.” She stepped closer, her eyes soft with sympathy but unflinching. “I’m sorry, Lyra. I didn’t want to be the one to tell you, but it’s true. Your scent has changed, it’s faint, but I can smell it. Your wolf must be protecting the pup, prioritizing its safety over everything else.” I clutched at my stomach instinctively, the weight of her words crashing down on me. Memories of my Varg filled my thoughts and then Lucian threat, I didn't want to think of what might happen if he knows I'm pregnant. He might want to kill me and the pup, my head was spinning. My thoughts were hunting, being pregnant for Varg would've been the best thing that had ever happened to me, if not for his brother and then Thanos. Tears welled up in my eyes, and I couldn’t stop them from

Varg's Pov “Stop, Varg, stop!” The words echoed in my mind like a siren as my fist connected with my opponent’s face again. The metallic tang of blood filled the air, sharp and biting, as images of Lyra, her tear-streaked face, her trembling form, flickered in my thoughts like a faulty bulb. “You’re going to kill him.” The voice dragged me back, pulling me from the haze of anger clouding my vision. I blinked, my chest heaving as I looked down. My opponent lay crumpled on the ground, his breaths shallow, his body struggling to move as two referees dragged him away. His face was swollen and bloodied, the aftermath of my uncontrollable rage. “You’re this close to losing our bargain cash,” the manager barked, storming in with fury etched on his face. “What the hell came over you?” I groaned, gritting my teeth as Light’s words replayed in my head, a painful reminder of my failure. I wasn’t strong enough to protect my mate. Lyra was gone, and Lucian’s threats loomed over her like

Lyra's Pov I stood up from the bed after finishing my meal, picking up the tray and making my way out of the room toward the kitchen. The aches in my legs had disappeared, allowing me to walk faster, almost as if the pain had been a distant memory. The hallway leading to the kitchen was quiet, the silver plaque indicating its location glinting faintly in the light. As I walked, my eyes darted around, hoping to spot Light, or at least someone who could tell me where she was.Her sudden departure earlier had left me unsettled. The jealousy I’d seen in her eyes when I told her Varg was the father of my pup, it didn’t make sense. It felt like there was more to her reaction than I understood. When I entered the kitchen, a woman with dark hair neatly pulled into a bun was chopping carrots at the counter. She paused as she noticed me, quickly setting the knife aside and approached me to take the tray from my hands.“How was the meal?” she asked with a half-smile, her voice soft and kind.“I

Varg's Pov I pushed open the door and walked out of Lucian's study, my hands balling into fists. It felt like every ounce of strength was draining from me, leaving behind a hollow shell. I trudged down the dimly lit hallway toward my room, each step heavier than the last. Once inside, I headed straight for the shower, desperate to wash away the anger boiling inside me.The water cascaded over me, soaking my hair and clinging to my skin as I closed my eyes, trying to calm my racing nerves. Months had passed since Lyra left, and I still had no clue where she was. Every lead I followed turned out to be a dead end, leaving me feeling more powerless and foolish than before.Lucian was right. This situation was far more complicated than I had imagined, and I had been blind to the dangers. Ever since Lyra entered my life, I had lost focus. I hadn’t trained in weeks, hadn’t been able to think clearly. She had taken over my thoughts, my priorities, my very existence.A low groan escaped my li

Lyra's POV“Kim, how are you doing?” I asked softly, brushing a loose strand of her fiery red hair from her forehead and tucking it behind her ear.“I’m not fine,” she mumbled, her lips forming a slight pout. She shifted to rest her head on my lap, her small arms clutching her knees. “My dad won’t let me have ice cream. He’s too busy dealing with pack business to even care about me.”I smiled, brushing my hand lightly over her forehead and down to her temple. “I know how you feel, little pumpkin. But your dad is the alpha. It’s his responsibility to look after his people, even when it feels unfair.”She pouted harder, her frustration clear in her voice. “I wish he wasn’t an alpha. Then I’d be the luckiest girl in the pack.”I couldn’t help but laugh at her dramatic tone. I reached over and tickled her gently under her arm. She flinched, twisting to escape my fingers, laughter spilling out of her as she wriggled free.“Stop!” she squealed, darting away, but I chased after her, teasing

Varg's POVMy eyes snapped open, and I felt a warm body beside me. I looked down and saw Bethany lying on the bed, her head resting on my chest. She was naked, and so was I. Groaning, I stood up slowly, running a hand through my hair, trying to piece together what had happened.“What the hell came over me?” I muttered, pushing her gently to the side as I moved to the closet to grab a pair of pants and a shirt.“Varg, you're awake?” Bethany’s soft voice broke the silence as she stirred, brushing her hand against her eyelids.I pulled on the pants, then the shirt, and turned to face her, my anger bubbling just beneath the surface. “What the hell did you do?” I snapped, trying to contain my frustration, though I knew I was mostly at fault. Still, she could’ve stopped me and give into it. “I was fucking hallucinating and you would've stopped me.”She stood, hurriedly grabbing her clothes from the floor and putting them on before walking over to the side of the room where a clean laundry b

Lyra's POVThe roars from the crowd were almost deafening as I stood next to Light, staring at the cyclone chain barricade fence separating the crowd from the fighting ground.“This is where Varg comes. This is what matters to him,” Light shouted over the noise, not bothering to look my way. “I'm glad you can see this by yourself.“I glanced around, the stifling aura of the place overwhelming me. The smell of sweat, body odor, and spilled drinks was nauseating. Men, women, even teenagers—were they all insane? In a corner near us, a big-bellied man stood collecting money from a group huddled around him as he handed out slips of paper.“I know Varg will win. I’ve bet a million on it,” a man yelled beside me.“He always wins,” a woman chimed in. “I bet small this time, but next time I’ll put my house on him!”I clenched the hem of my hoodie tightly, my body screaming for me to leave. But the longing to see Varg consumed me more with each passing second. The atmosphere was suffocating, an

Lyra's POV My heart thumped wildly in my chest as I tried to catch my breath. What had just happened? I blinked, slowly looking up to see Lucian holding my hand firmly. His piercing eyes bore into mine with an emotion I couldn’t place, was it worry? It almost felt like I was dreaming. “I fucking told you not to kill yourself,” he groaned, his tone laced with irritation. “Do you have any idea what Varg would do if he didn’t get to see you again?” I gulped, fear coursing through me as my hand trembled slightly. Lucian let go of my hand, his movements slow and deliberate, before turning to walk back toward the man who stood in the shadows, frowning at us. “Like I said, I didn’t come here to force you to fight for me,” Lucian muttered, glancing back at me briefly. “You can stay out of my way if that’s what you want. Or you can come and do whatever shitty thing you think will keep you safe.” “Are we not going to take her back?” the man finally spoke, gesturing toward me. Lucian click

Varg’s POV“Daddy, Mommy said we’re leaving,” Moon’s tiny voice chimed as she padded across the living room, her soft curls bouncing with each step.I smiled down at her, reaching out to lift her onto my lap. She curled against my chest, her warmth settling something deep inside me.“Yes, sweetheart,” I murmured, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “We’re going to the Moon Pack, where your mommy came from.”Bethany entered the room, pushing her father’s wheelchair, her expression composed yet tinged with something unspoken. She settled onto the couch across from me, her eyes steady as she met mine.“Varg,” Tommy said with quiet certainty, “I know you’re going to be a great leader. It’s always been in you, and I’m glad you finally get to step into that role.”I exhaled, a slow, relieved breath. “I just hope things turn out right from now on,” I admitted. The weight of responsibility was still settling over me, but with Thanos gone, the darkness that had loomed over us for so long h

Lyra’s POVA deep voice swept into my subconscious, pulling me from the edge of sleep. I turned the other way, but the cold seeped deeper into my body. My arms wrapped tightly around myself, but it did little to stop the shivers racking through me.I knew I should get up and go to the room, but I couldn't, not when I knew Varg wasn’t there. The bed would feel just as cold, just as empty.A familiar warmth surrounded me suddenly, strong arms lifting me effortlessly. Before I could fully wake, my body was cradled against a solid chest, and a familiar scent wrapped around me like a shield against the cold.My eyes snapped open. “Varg?“He didn't offer a word and carried me down the hallway, his grip firm but careful, his expression unreadable. I let my head rest against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat beneath my ear. When we reached the bedroom, Varg placed me gently on the bed and pulled the blankets over me, tucking them securely around my shoulders. The warm

Lyra’s POV"Bethany… Bethany," I called softly, reaching out to touch her shoulder. But she didn’t flinch. She remained still, lost in her thoughts, her numbness beginning to frighten me."It’s okay," I whispered, kneeling beside her. "Please, let’s go inside before you catch a cold."She lifted her head slowly, her eyes filled with unspeakable pain, but she didn’t move."Please listen to me, Bethany," I pleaded. "I don’t want you getting sick, for your sake and for the baby’s."Her gaze flickered at me for a moment before lowering to the ground. She had been sitting in the exact spot where Lucian had fallen, even though his body was no longer there."Lyra, I don’t think I can survive this," she murmured, her voice fragile, her tears sliding down her pale cheeks. "Why did Lucian had to leave me now that we were planning of getting married?"If only I had an answer. If only I could give her the comfort she so desperately needed. But I couldn’t. I didn’t even have it for myself.Ever si

Varg's POV The urgency in Jacob’s voice sent a sharp prickle down my spine. Something was definitely wrong, but I couldn’t quite place what it was. Maybe Jacob had figured out who the traitor was and needed me there before delivering punishment.“What’s the problem?” Tommy asked, noticing the worried expression on my face.“Just got a call from Jacob. I need to return to the mansion,” I replied absentmindedly, my voice sounding hollow.“Then you have to go. Don’t worry, you can visit whenever you want. And don’t forget what we discussed.” Tommy gave me an encouraging look, but it barely registered in my mind.I glanced at my phone, staring at the multiple missed calls from Lyra. A strange feeling crept up my spine, but I brushed it off.I stood up. “Thanks for your time, Tommy. I understand if you don’t want Lucian to know where you are. But it would really be nice if he knew.”“I’ll tell him when all this is over,” Bethany said as she walked in, handing Tommy a tea mug. “But for now

Lyra’s POVThanos’s voice slithered through my mind like a snake, his words sharp and taunting."Oh, this is exactly what I wanted."His laughter echoed through my head, sending a shiver down my spine. I had never truly tried using the mind link before, not like this. But now, in this moment, it felt like he was inside my head, his presence pressing against my thoughts like a dark cloud."I’ve got you where I wanted, and now you can’t run away from me."A snarl ripped through my throat, my teeth clashing together in a vicious warning. My wolf burned with rage, ready to lunge, but before I could move, a massive force crashed into me from behind.I barely had time to register the weight before I was slammed into the ground, my breath knocked from my lungs. The world spun, dirt and leaves sticking to my fur as a heavy body pinned me down.A deep growl rumbled above me as I realized it was Harold in his wolf form.I thrashed, my claws digging into the ground as I tried to buck him off, bu

Lyra’s POVBile rose in my throat as I stood frozen at the sight before me. Thanos stood tall, his presence menacing, flanked by five wolves with eyes that glowed in the dim moonlight. He was toying with us, drawing this out, knowing full well that Lucian was alone and outnumbered.Lucian held his ground, his jaw clenched, but I could sense his unease. He was strong, but against Thanos and five of his wolves? He wouldn't last.I needed to do something. My gaze darted around the living room, searching for my phone. It lay on the couch, its screen reflecting the dim glow of the chandelier above. I rushed over, snatching it up, and quickly dialed Varg’s number. It rang, a breath of relief left me. If Varg could get here in time, we had a chance. But then it went into voicemail.I cursed under my breath and tried again. Lyra’s POVI stood by the entrance of the mansion, my eyes locked on Jacob as he spoke to Harold. There was tension in Jacob’s posture, the kind that signaled he was piecing together a dangerous truth. Harold, however, remained composed, his face a mask of innocence.Jacob’s jaw tightened as he leaned in closer, his words sharp and demanding, but Harold didn’t waver. A cold unease settled in my stomach. Something wasn’t right.I cast one last glance at the confrontation before turning on my heel and stepping into the mansion. My steps were brisk but quiet as I moved through the dimly lit hallway toward the children’s room. I needed to make sure they were inside, away from any potential danger.Reaching their door, I cracked it open and peeked inside. Moon was curled up beneath her blanket, her small hand resting near her face. Tristan and Justine lay still on their beds, their chests rising and falling in slow, steady breaths. "I heard Daddy talking to Aunt Bethany about someone helping him."I chuckled softly, masking my worry with a reassuring smile. “Oh, sweetheart. It’s not just about that man. She cast a hesitant look at Lucian before finally stepping forward, her pace cautious.Sliding into the driver’s seat, I turned on the engine, the low hum filling the air. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Bethany hesitating before opening the passenger door. She slipped inside, her face lined with unease, her hands nervously twisting in her lap.“If there’s anything you want me to know, don’t keep it from me,” I said, casting her a knowing look before resting my arm against the steering wheel. She turned to me, and though I kept my eyes on the road ahead, I could feel the tension rolling off her in waves. “I don’t know if my father is ready to see you,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. “He ma
