Varg's POV

My eyes snapped open, and I felt a warm body beside me. I looked down and saw Bethany lying on the bed, her head resting on my chest. She was naked, and so was I. Groaning, I stood up slowly, running a hand through my hair, trying to piece together what had happened.

“What the hell came over me?” I muttered, pushing her gently to the side as I moved to the closet to grab a pair of pants and a shirt.

“Varg, you're awake?” Bethany’s soft voice broke the silence as she stirred, brushing her hand against her eyelids.

I pulled on the pants, then the shirt, and turned to face her, my anger bubbling just beneath the surface. “What the hell did you do?” I snapped, trying to contain my frustration, though I knew I was mostly at fault. Still, she could’ve stopped me and give into it. “I was fucking hallucinating and you would've stopped me.”

She stood, hurriedly grabbing her clothes from the floor and putting them on before walking over to the side of the room where a clean laundry b

Lyra's POVThe roars from the crowd were almost deafening as I stood next to Light, staring at the cyclone chain barricade fence separating the crowd from the fighting ground.“This is where Varg comes. This is what matters to him,” Light shouted over the noise, not bothering to look my way. “I'm glad you can see this by yourself.“I glanced around, the stifling aura of the place overwhelming me. The smell of sweat, body odor, and spilled drinks was nauseating. Men, women, even teenagers—were they all insane? In a corner near us, a big-bellied man stood collecting money from a group huddled around him as he handed out slips of paper.“I know Varg will win. I’ve bet a million on it,” a man yelled beside me.“He always wins,” a woman chimed in. “I bet small this time, but next time I’ll put my house on him!”I clenched the hem of my hoodie tightly, my body screaming for me to leave. But the longing to see Varg consumed me more with each passing second. The atmosphere was suffocating, an

Lyra's POV My heart thumped wildly in my chest as I tried to catch my breath. What had just happened? I blinked, slowly looking up to see Lucian holding my hand firmly. His piercing eyes bore into mine with an emotion I couldn’t place, was it worry? It almost felt like I was dreaming. “I fucking told you not to kill yourself,” he groaned, his tone laced with irritation. “Do you have any idea what Varg would do if he didn’t get to see you again?” I gulped, fear coursing through me as my hand trembled slightly. Lucian let go of my hand, his movements slow and deliberate, before turning to walk back toward the man who stood in the shadows, frowning at us. “Like I said, I didn’t come here to force you to fight for me,” Lucian muttered, glancing back at me briefly. “You can stay out of my way if that’s what you want. Or you can come and do whatever shitty thing you think will keep you safe.” “Are we not going to take her back?” the man finally spoke, gesturing toward me. Lucian click

Varg's Pov The roars from the crowd were deafening as the referee announced my victory. For a moment, my thoughts faltered. I couldn’t tear my gaze away from the spot where I had seen her. It can't be her… “Good job, Varg!” The manager, a scrawny old man with a too-wide grin, clapped me on the back, breaking my focus. I grabbed my shirt from one of the brunettes and pulled it on, before exiting the ring. My footsteps felt heavy as I made my way back through the bustling crowd, eager to escape the noise. I took a path toward the quieter back area of the arena, where the sounds of cheering gradually faded away. Once I reached the less crowded section behind the arena, I climbed into my car and sat there in the silence, trying to wrap my mind around what I had just seen. Could it have been Lyra? My thoughts spun in chaotic circles as I turned on the engine, pulling out of the lot. Lucian had mentioned rumors of Lyra being in this area, and despite my doubts, I couldn’t shake the na

Varg's Pov Her gaze faltered before it brightened, as if catching a glimmer of hope. “She’s been with me all this time,” she admitted softly. “Ever since I saved her from the a wolf that almost killed her.” I stepped closer to her, my tone sharp with disbelief. “If you’ve had her all this time, why did you lie to me when I asked you?” Her eyes met mine, steady but brimming with emotion. I could see the pain and jealousy simmering beneath the surface. “Because I was protecting her from you and Lucian,” she said, her voice trembling slightly as she continued. “She told me everything.” I bit my lip, my frustration mounting as I tried to decipher her intentions. I moved closer, but she instinctively stepped back. “I never thought you’d be the type to lie, Light. Even though… you’ve done it countless times to me.” A soft gasp escaped her lips, and she took another hesitant step back, as if retreating from a painful truth. “You think I’m lying? What would I gain from lying to you?” He

Lyra's Pov I stared at Varg, lost for words. I didn’t know what to do. After everything that had happened and Lucian’s sudden change in behavior toward me, I didn’t know what to believe anymore.“Lyra, Varg is here. You need to hide,” Luna Mara’s words echoed in my mind. I didn’t believe her at first, not until I heard his voice.Seven long months had passed since I last saw him. Standing near the doorway, staring at him, I felt the urge to rush over, hug him, and tell him how much I missed him.“Lyra,” he shouted, rushing toward me. But instead, I moved back into the room and shut the door.I never intended for him to see me. Luna Mara was right, staying hidden was the safest choice for me and my unborn pup. I placed my hand on my protruding stomach, tears rolling down my cheeks.“You have to go. She doesn’t want to see you,” I heard Luna Mara tell him.“I can’t fucking leave without seeing her, so get the fuck out of my way,” Varg shouted. The intensity of his voice sent a shiver d

Lyra's POV After Varg left, I sat on the bed, my stomach feeling unusually heavy. I didn’t understand why it felt that way, but the weight was undeniable. Slowly, I rested my back against the pillows, trying to ease the discomfort. My hand instinctively moved to my stomach, patting it gently in hopes of calming both myself and the life growing within me.I closed my eyes, hoping for some rest, but the creak of the door jolted me awake. My eyes snapped open, darting toward the doorway, where I saw Light quietly stepping inside.“I’m sorry for telling Varg you were here,” she said, her tone soft, as though she feared she’d done irreparable harm. She walked over and sat beside me on the bed, guilt evident in her face. “I had to. If I hadn’t, he wouldn’t have stopped searching for you.”“I understand why you did it,” I replied, my voice strained as I shifted uncomfortably. A sharp pang shot through my stomach, and I gasped softly, pressing a hand against it. “You did what you had to do,

Lyra's POV“Have you thought of a name for them?” Light asked as she gently picked up one of my babies, cradling him in her arms.I looked down at the baby, the little girl among them, smiling softly. “I don’t know yet. I can’t seem to come up with a name,” I said, shifting closer to the bed to peek at the others sleeping soundly. “I still can’t believe I gave birth to three of them…”Her lips curled into a smile as she walked over to sit next to me on the bed. “It’s a miracle. The moon goddess is truly on your side. This is a blessing,” she said, placing the baby’s hand over hers. “They’re so cute.”I blushed at her words. She was right—I had never imagined having another version of Varg, but my babies looked exactly like him. They had his hair color, and the red irises—traits they had inherited from me.“Want to carry him?” Light asked, and I nodded softly. She stood up and carefully placed the baby in my outstretched arms.I gazed at my smiling baby as he cooed and stretched out hi

  • Her Chosen Mate   58. Lucian's Plan

Varg's POVI twisted and turned on the bed, my mind racing. Ever since I saw Lyra pregnant, I couldn’t stop thinking about what to do. I had to find a way to fix everything, to protect her. She shouldn’t have to keep running, especially not now, not while she was carrying my child.A sharp knock interrupted my spiraling thoughts. I turned to the door, my heart thudding. Who could it be at this hour? Rising to my feet, I crossed the room and opened the door. Bethany stood there, her face pale and her eyes frantic.“What is it?” I asked, my voice rough.“They’ve found her,” she stammered, stepping into the room uninvited. Her words hit me like a sledgehammer. My pulse quickened as I shut the door behind her. “Who?” I asked, curious to know what she was talking about and who she was refering to.“Lyra,” Bethany whispered, her voice trembling. “I overheard Lucian and Jacob earlier. They were talking about her.”“Damn it!” I cursed, raking a hand through my hair. The anger bubbling inside

Varg’s POV“Daddy, Mommy said we’re leaving,” Moon’s tiny voice chimed as she padded across the living room, her soft curls bouncing with each step.I smiled down at her, reaching out to lift her onto my lap. She curled against my chest, her warmth settling something deep inside me.“Yes, sweetheart,” I murmured, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “We’re going to the Moon Pack, where your mommy came from.”Bethany entered the room, pushing her father’s wheelchair, her expression composed yet tinged with something unspoken. She settled onto the couch across from me, her eyes steady as she met mine.“Varg,” Tommy said with quiet certainty, “I know you’re going to be a great leader. It’s always been in you, and I’m glad you finally get to step into that role.”I exhaled, a slow, relieved breath. “I just hope things turn out right from now on,” I admitted. The weight of responsibility was still settling over me, but with Thanos gone, the darkness that had loomed over us for so long h

Lyra’s POVA deep voice swept into my subconscious, pulling me from the edge of sleep. I turned the other way, but the cold seeped deeper into my body. My arms wrapped tightly around myself, but it did little to stop the shivers racking through me.I knew I should get up and go to the room, but I couldn't, not when I knew Varg wasn’t there. The bed would feel just as cold, just as empty.A familiar warmth surrounded me suddenly, strong arms lifting me effortlessly. Before I could fully wake, my body was cradled against a solid chest, and a familiar scent wrapped around me like a shield against the cold.My eyes snapped open. “Varg?“He didn't offer a word and carried me down the hallway, his grip firm but careful, his expression unreadable. I let my head rest against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat beneath my ear. When we reached the bedroom, Varg placed me gently on the bed and pulled the blankets over me, tucking them securely around my shoulders. The warm

Lyra’s POV"Bethany… Bethany," I called softly, reaching out to touch her shoulder. But she didn’t flinch. She remained still, lost in her thoughts, her numbness beginning to frighten me."It’s okay," I whispered, kneeling beside her. "Please, let’s go inside before you catch a cold."She lifted her head slowly, her eyes filled with unspeakable pain, but she didn’t move."Please listen to me, Bethany," I pleaded. "I don’t want you getting sick, for your sake and for the baby’s."Her gaze flickered at me for a moment before lowering to the ground. She had been sitting in the exact spot where Lucian had fallen, even though his body was no longer there."Lyra, I don’t think I can survive this," she murmured, her voice fragile, her tears sliding down her pale cheeks. "Why did Lucian had to leave me now that we were planning of getting married?"If only I had an answer. If only I could give her the comfort she so desperately needed. But I couldn’t. Varg's POV The urgency in Jacob’s voice sent a sharp prickle down my spine. Something was definitely wrong, but I couldn’t quite place what it was. Maybe Jacob had figured out who the traitor was and needed me there before delivering punishment.“What’s the problem?” Tommy asked, noticing the worried expression on my face.“Just got a call from Jacob. I need to return to the mansion,” I replied absentmindedly, my voice sounding hollow.“Then you have to go. Don’t worry, you can visit whenever you want. And don’t forget what we discussed.” Tommy gave me an encouraging look, but it barely registered in my mind.I glanced at my phone, staring at the multiple missed calls from Lyra. A strange feeling crept up my spine, but I brushed it off.I stood up. “Thanks for your time, Tommy. I understand if you don’t want Lucian to know where you are. But it would really be nice if he knew.”“I’ll tell him when all this is over,” Bethany said as she walked in, handing Tommy a tea mug. “But for now

Lyra’s POVThanos’s voice slithered through my mind like a snake, his words sharp and taunting."Oh, this is exactly what I wanted."His laughter echoed through my head, sending a shiver down my spine. I had never truly tried using the mind link before, not like this. But now, in this moment, it felt like he was inside my head, his presence pressing against my thoughts like a dark cloud."I’ve got you where I wanted, and now you can’t run away from me."A snarl ripped through my throat, my teeth clashing together in a vicious warning. My wolf burned with rage, ready to lunge, but before I could move, a massive force crashed into me from behind.I barely had time to register the weight before I was slammed into the ground, my breath knocked from my lungs. The world spun, dirt and leaves sticking to my fur as a heavy body pinned me down.A deep growl rumbled above me as I realized it was Harold in his wolf form.I thrashed, my claws digging into the ground as I tried to buck him off, bu

Lyra’s POVBile rose in my throat as I stood frozen at the sight before me. Thanos stood tall, his presence menacing, flanked by five wolves with eyes that glowed in the dim moonlight. He was toying with us, drawing this out, knowing full well that Lucian was alone and outnumbered.Lucian held his ground, his jaw clenched, but I could sense his unease. He was strong, but against Thanos and five of his wolves? He wouldn't last.I needed to do something. My gaze darted around the living room, searching for my phone. It lay on the couch, its screen reflecting the dim glow of the chandelier above. I rushed over, snatching it up, and quickly dialed Varg’s number. It rang, a breath of relief left me. If Varg could get here in time, we had a chance. But then it went into voicemail.I cursed under my breath and tried again. Lyra’s POVI stood by the entrance of the mansion, my eyes locked on Jacob as he spoke to Harold. There was tension in Jacob’s posture, the kind that signaled he was piecing together a dangerous truth. Harold, however, remained composed, his face a mask of innocence.Jacob’s jaw tightened as he leaned in closer, his words sharp and demanding, but Harold didn’t waver. A cold unease settled in my stomach. Something wasn’t right.I cast one last glance at the confrontation before turning on my heel and stepping into the mansion. My steps were brisk but quiet as I moved through the dimly lit hallway toward the children’s room. I needed to make sure they were inside, away from any potential danger.Reaching their door, I cracked it open and peeked inside. Moon was curled up beneath her blanket, her small hand resting near her face. Tristan and Justine lay still on their beds, their chests rising and falling in slow, steady breaths. Tristan and Justine sat a little distance away, their notepads propped on their knees as they scribbled down whatever held their interest.I ran my fingers gently through Moon’s silky hair, tucking a loose strand behind her ear. “Baby, your dad has been busy for quite some time now," I said, keeping my voice calm despite the ache in my chest.Moon shifted slightly, turning her big, curious eyes up at me. “Is it about that bad man that came over that day?" she asked innocently. "I heard Daddy talking to Aunt Bethany about someone helping him."I chuckled softly, masking my worry with a reassuring smile. “Oh, sweetheart. It’s not just about that man. She cast a hesitant look at Lucian before finally stepping forward, her pace cautious.Sliding into the driver’s seat, I turned on the engine, the low hum filling the air. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Bethany hesitating before opening the passenger door. She slipped inside, her face lined with unease, her hands nervously twisting in her lap.“If there’s anything you want me to know, don’t keep it from me,” I said, casting her a knowing look before resting my arm against the steering wheel. She turned to me, and though I kept my eyes on the road ahead, I could feel the tension rolling off her in waves. “I don’t know if my father is ready to see you,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. “He ma
