Lyra Pov

“Serene Moon. She was a tough one, always trying to get on my nerves.”

Thanos’s words echoed in my mind as my eyes snapped open. The rich aroma of freshly baked turkey wafted through the air, teasing my senses. A sharp, searing pain shot through my leg, a bitter reminder of my brutal encounter with Thanos. I groaned softly, reaching up to cradle my pounding head. The ache in my body was nothing compared to the turmoil in my heart.

My gaze swept across the unfamiliar room, taking in my surroundings. A large brown wardrobe loomed in one corner, next to a neatly arranged vanity table, its mirror reflecting faint sunlight streaming through two windows. Judging by the setup, it was clear I was in a woman’s room.

I tried to move, shifting my weight to get up, but the stabbing pain in my leg made me hiss through clenched teeth. The memory of the fall, the fight, it all came rushing back in agonizing clarity.

But where am I?

The question circled in my mind as I heard the faint creak

Varg Pov Jacob ran a hand through his hair, his usually steady demeanor replaced by unease. “Pure evil? You think it could’ve been…” He trailed off, unwilling to finish the thought.“I don’t know,” I admitted, my fists clenching as frustration and fear churned inside me. “But I’ve never seen anything like it. Those eyes… Jacob, it wasn’t just a wolf.”Silence hung between us, the weight of the encounter pressing down like a heavy stone. The forest, once so alive with its usual nocturnal sounds, now felt suffocatingly quiet, as though even nature itself was wary of the creature.Jacob broke the silence with a soft exhale, his breath heavy with concern. “We need to figure out what that was, and fast. If it’s still out there, it’s a threat to everyone.”I nodded, though my insides churned with unease. “We’ll find out,” I said, my voice firm, even as my thoughts spiraled. “Whatever it takes.”But as the words left my lips, a sinking dread rooted itself deep in my chest. That creature was

Varg Pov "Seems more like the rumors got to you," Lucian said, clicking his tongue as he set the whiskey bottle on the table with a deliberate thud. His tone was calm, almost mocking, as though my words were nothing more than idle gossip to him.I stared at him, my anger simmering just beneath the surface. “Don’t play coy with me, Lucian. You think I don’t know what you’ve been doing? Using Lyra as a pawn in whatever twisted game you’re playing?”He leaned back against the desk, crossing his arms casually, his lips curling into a faint smirk. “And what exactly is it you think you know?” he asked, his voice smooth but laced with challenge. “Because from where I’m standing, you’re grasping at straws, Varg.”My fists clenched, the wood of the armrest groaning under the pressure of my grip. “Don’t treat me like I’m stupid!” I growled, rising from the chair. “You’ve been sending her on missions, manipulating her to go after the Moon Pack, bit by bit, wolf by wolf. You’re trying to destroy

Lyra's Pov“How are you feeling now?” The woman walked in, balancing a tray of food in her hands. Her voice was soft, almost soothing. She placed the tray on the table next to the bed, her movements careful and deliberate.I sat up, wincing slightly as the pain eased, if only a little. My wolf was doing its best, healing me bit by bit. “A little relieved,” I admitted.“That’s good.” Her lips curved into a gentle smile as she took a seat beside me. She picked up the plate from the tray, placed a napkin on my lap, and carefully set the plate down. “This is my mom’s favorite soup. She always makes it for the warriors when they return from battle. It’ll help your wolf heal faster.”“Thanks,” I murmured, glancing down at the greenish-yellow contents of the plate. The sight of it made my stomach churn uneasily, a wave of reluctance washing over me. Despite that, I added, “I really appreciate everything you’ve done for me. But… I don’t even know your name.”Her gaze fell, and for a fleeting

Varg's Pov “I don’t know where the fuck she is,” I snapped, storming into Jacob’s apartment. He was sprawled on the couch, the glow of the TV lighting up his face.He shifted upright, his expression turning serious. “Any leads? Did you talk to Lucian about it?”“Yes,” I growled through clenched teeth. “And all he did was admit that he sent Lyra out to do his shitty revenge work.” I sank onto the couch in the corner, tension rippling through every muscle in my body.Jacob shook his head, his face clouded with sympathy, but it only fueled the fire of my anger. “I’ll fucking kill him if I don’t find Lyra before the week is out.”Jacob sighed heavily, rubbing his hands over his face as if trying to piece together a solution. “I know you care about her, Varg, but I don’t want you doing something rash. It’s been days now, and she’s not in the Moon Pack. What if she ran somewhere Lucian wouldn’t think to look?”“I don’t know what to fucking think right now,” I muttered, my voice breaking un

Lyra's POV I gripped the edge of the bed, breathing deeply as I pushed myself up, ignoring the dull throb in my injured leg. Light’s soup and my wolf’s healing had worked wonders, though I wasn’t fully recovered. Slowly, I lowered my feet onto the cold, tiled floor. The chill against my skin sent a shiver up my spine, grounding me as I placed my second foot down and carefully steadied myself.Step by step, I moved toward the window. The breeze swept into the room, carrying with it the earthy scent of the forest and the faint hum of voices in the distance. The gray sky stretched out before me, vast and beautiful, a contrast to the turmoil brewing inside me.I rested my hand on the windowsill, letting the cool air brush against my skin, my hair shifting gently with the wind. For a moment, I closed my eyes, embracing the fleeting peace. The creak of the door broke the moment. I turned to see Light storming in, her expression tight with anger. Lyra's Pov The words hit me like a thunderclap, freezing me in place. My mind raced, the room spinning as if the walls were closing in. “No,” I whispered, shaking my head, my voice trembling. “That’s not possible. It can’t be.” She stepped closer, her eyes soft with sympathy but unflinching. “I’m sorry, Lyra. I didn’t want to be the one to tell you, but it’s true. Your scent has changed, it’s faint, but I can smell it. Your wolf must be protecting the pup, prioritizing its safety over everything else.” I clutched at my stomach instinctively, the weight of her words crashing down on me. Memories of my Varg filled my thoughts and then Lucian threat, I didn't want to think of what might happen if he knows I'm pregnant. He might want to kill me and the pup, my head was spinning. My thoughts were hunting, being pregnant for Varg would've been the best thing that had ever happened to me, if not for his brother and then Thanos. Varg's Pov “Stop, Varg, stop!” The words echoed in my mind like a siren as my fist connected with my opponent’s face again. The metallic tang of blood filled the air, sharp and biting, as images of Lyra, her tear-streaked face, her trembling form, flickered in my thoughts like a faulty bulb. “You’re going to kill him.” The voice dragged me back, pulling me from the haze of anger clouding my vision. I blinked, my chest heaving as I looked down. My opponent lay crumpled on the ground, his breaths shallow, his body struggling to move as two referees dragged him away. His face was swollen and bloodied, the aftermath of my uncontrollable rage. “You’re this close to losing our bargain cash,” the manager barked, storming in with fury etched on his face. “What the hell came over you?” I groaned, gritting my teeth as Light’s words replayed in my head, a painful reminder of my failure. • Her Chosen Mate    47. A little history

Lyra's Pov I stood up from the bed after finishing my meal, picking up the tray and making my way out of the room toward the kitchen. The aches in my legs had disappeared, allowing me to walk faster, almost as if the pain had been a distant memory. The hallway leading to the kitchen was quiet, the silver plaque indicating its location glinting faintly in the light. As I walked, my eyes darted around, hoping to spot Light, or at least someone who could tell me where she was.Her sudden departure earlier had left me unsettled. The jealousy I’d seen in her eyes when I told her Varg was the father of my pup, it didn’t make sense. It felt like there was more to her reaction than I understood. When I entered the kitchen, a woman with dark hair neatly pulled into a bun was chopping carrots at the counter. She paused as she noticed me, quickly setting the knife aside and approached me to take the tray from my hands.“How was the meal?” she asked with a half-smile, her voice soft and kind.“I

Varg’s POV“Daddy, I’m scared,” Moon whispered, her small fingers clutching the blanket as she looked up at me with wide, fearful eyes.A cold chill crawled up my spine at the sight of her trembling lips, her innocence tainted by the horrors she had witnessed.I sat beside her on the bed, brushing a strand of dark hair from her forehead. “Don’t worry, honey. I won’t let anyone hurt you, your brothers, or your mom.” My voice was firm, a promise carved into my soul. “I’ll make sure that evil man never comes near us again.”Moon’s lips curled into a relieved smile, though the fear still lingered in her eyes. “Thank you, Daddy.”I forced a smile and ruffled her hair gently. “Now, go to sleep.” I tucked the blanket around her small frame, making sure she was warm and safe.I glanced over at Tristan and Justine, their small chests rising and falling in peaceful slumber.A sigh escaped my lips as I sat there for a moment, watching them. They were safe—for now. But that didn’t ease the anger

Varg’s POVI climbed out of the car, my boots sinking into the scorched earth as I took in the remains of the Blackwood Pack’s territory. The air reeked of smoke and blood, the acrid scent of burnt wood thick in my lungs. Half of the pack’s home was nothing but smoldering ruins, blackened timbers standing like skeletal reminders of what had once been a place of safety. This had never happened before. Lucian and I had always protected the pack, watched over them, made sure no outside threat dared cross our borders. Yet now, looking at the devastation, it felt like all of our efforts had been for nothing.“This is bad,” Light murmured beside me, stepping over a fallen beam to kneel beside one of the injured wolves.“I can’t believe Thanos came right under my nose and did this,” Lucian muttered, his voice tight with barely restrained fury. He turned to face me, his brown eyes burning with frustration. “This is getting out of hand.”My hands curled into fists at my sides, nails biting int

I opened my eyes and sat up, my gaze drifting toward him, only to see the door slam shut.“What’s happening?” I mumbled to myself, still groggy. Forcing myself up, I walked over to the closet, grabbed a shirt and trousers, and slipped into them. Pulling my hair into a messy bun, I hurried to the door, pushing it open hastily. The hallway was eerily silent. In the distance, I caught a glimpse of Varg as he rushed out of the mansion with Light and Lucian.“Varg?” I called out, but he didn’t seem to hear me. My heart pounded as I quickly made my way toward the entrance. As soon as I stepped outside, a thick fog of smoke filled the sky, blocking the rising sun. Lyra’s POVThe water cascaded down my hair as I ran my fingers through it, pushing it back. Tilting my face up, I closed my eyes, letting the cold water hit my skin, the sensation grounding me. After a moment, I lowered my head, allowing the water to soak into my milk-white skin, my body absorbing the quiet solace of the shower.A few weeks ago, before the news of Thanos' attacks spread, I had dared to dream of something different. My children had never stepped foot outside the Dom mansion since they arrived, and I had wanted to take them out, to let them meet others like them, to feel the freedom they had never known. But that dream was shattered the moment the news arrived. With a sigh, I turned off the tap and reached for a towel, wrapping it around my body. Grabbing another, I gently squeezed the excess water from my hair before draping it over my head.Stepping into the bedroom, I made my way to the closet, pulling out my nightwear. I had just finished slipping into my pants when

Varg's POV“What the fuck are you suggesting?” I snapped, my voice sharper than I intended. “You want us to leave Norway because of Thanos?”Lucian sighed, raking his fingers through his hair in frustration. “It’s the only way I can make sure you, Lyra, and your kids stay safe.”“I’m not doing that,” I spat back, fists clenched so tight I could feel my nails biting into my palms. “If Thanos wants war, then war is what he’ll get.”Lucian’s eyes were wide, fear swimming in them, but I wasn’t about to back down. I wasn’t like him, always trying to avoid a fight before it even started. If Thanos wanted to cross me, he’d better be ready to face the consequences.“You don’t understand what’s happening, Varg,” Lucian insisted, his breath quickening. “This isn’t some random arena brawl. Thanos has the strength of a Lycan now.”He reached under his desk and pulled out a scroll, unrolling it across the table. “He’s taken over five packs in just two years. The only packs left standing are Blood

  • Her Chosen Mate   78. A Little Chatting

Lyra's POV The creaking sound of the door stirred me from my restless state, not that I had been sleeping. After what Varg had told me, sleep was impossible. Every time I closed my eyes, I tried to think of ways to keep my family safe, but my thoughts always led me back to fear. The mere image of Thanos sent a chill down my spine.I sat up in bed just as Bethany walked in, a basket of neatly folded clothes in her arms. She made her way to the closet, her voice calm but carrying an air of curiosity.“I heard the Moon Pack is in a tense situation these days.”I turned my gaze toward her. I knew she wanted to start a conversation, even though I wasn’t in the mood. But Bethany was someone I could confide in.“That’s what I heard,” I admitted. “I’m scared, Bethany. What if one day, Thanos comes here and tries to harm me or my pups?”Bethany placed a stack of folded clothes into the closet before turning to me. “I’m not sure about that,” she said matter-of-factly. “Thanos coming here would

Varg’s POVThe look on Lyra’s face when I told her about Thanos broke my heart. Fear flickered in her eyes, deep and raw, piercing straight into mine. I understood that fear. It was the same one that had been clawing at the edges of my thoughts since I first heard Alpha Warren’s warning.Lyra’s voice was barely above a whisper, trembling as she asked, “What are we going to do now? What if he decides to come for this pack?”“That would be a death sentence for him,” I said firmly.Thanos had never dared cross our borders, not since the brutal fight in the woods all those years ago. I had expected him to return for revenge, but he never did. That didn’t mean he had forgotten. He was patient. But he knew the truth, he wouldn’t stand a chance against me, not when the Blackwood Pack was one of the strongest in Norway.Lyra sighed, wrapping her arms around herself as she sank onto the bed. Worry still clouded her face, her delicate features shadowed with uncertainty.“I’m scared, Varg,” she

Daddy promised to teach me how to hunt,” she pouted, her lips pushing out like a disgruntled pup.At her words, I turned sharply, my heart giving a small lurch.“Baby, of course, he’ll teach you, when you’re eighteen. The walls were painted in warm shades of white and brown, creating a sense of peace and comfort. Above us, the ceiling was a masterpiece, painted with an artistic display of the sky, soft, wispy clouds stretched across the canvas, giving the illusion of endless serenity.Three beautifully crafted brown cribs stood side by side, their intricate wooden designs carved with care. A plush beige couch sat in the corner, its inviting cushions promising comfort for the long nights Varg and I would undoubtedly spend here, watching over our children.I gently placed Moon in her crib, her tiny fingers immediately reaching for my hair with a playful c
