“You look like shit,” Ash said, and I looked up to see my beta standing in the doorway to my less-than-glorious office.
“Let’s not talk about it,” I replied, knowing exactly what I looked like. I’d gone to the packhouse yesterday morning after talking to Gaia and Ashley. But I hadn’t heard from either one of them since then. I’d seen movements around the house, and I’d seen Ashley go to training this morning. Gaia left a little later, going to her preschool job. Both of them looked how I felt.
