Fear, Shock, Disbelief

Ross Pov Continues:

I got no answer, so I cautiously stepped through the front door and waited for a response. I got none. Something told me to leave. This could be dangerous. But my hunch told me to stay and check the place out. My flashlight revealed that the house was partially void of furnishings and looked pretty old. My doctor's intuition compelled me to search the house further, thinking the owners might be up in age and possibly very sick or immobilized due to their age.

I thought to myself. No one leaves their door unlocked these days. I checked and opened the first door I saw on the first floor. It was a bathroom, and I entered a room resembling a library. I could hear some of the floorboards squeaking under my feet. I carefully went down the long hallway that led me to the dining room. I continued to use my cell phone flashlight throughout my search in the house.

Nothing looked out of the ordinary except the house, which was ice cold, dark, and very old. I pushed open anoth
