I threw a glass on the wall, ruffling my hair in indignation as the piercing sound of the shattering glasses echoed in the office.

“How the hell did this happen?” I raved.

Mario dumped the broken glasses into the trashcan before spinning around to face me.

“I can’t tell, perhaps—”

“Perhaps? You said that he had no funds, you assured me!” I snapped.

“What if he got the funds from Rosy?” Mario muttered and I glanced at him.

“Why in the world will he get that amount of money from her? Rosy just took up her position as the chairperson of Connor Group a few days ago, and they’re not even in a relationship,” I snapped, and he raised his brows.

“There is something you’re not aware of yet,” Mario muttered and I looked at him.

“What?”

Mario took a deep breath and leaned closer.

“Rosy just announced her engagement with Evan.”

My throat knotted and my skin paled as dismay shrank my heart.

I chuckled, rolling my tongue around my clenched teeth.
