“Shall we go now?” The man asked. He had changed his clothes and all.

“Huh?” To be honest, I was confused when he asked me to wait before. And that confusion just hasn’t gone down one bit after seeing him like this.

“Oh, come on! Don’t act dumb. I’m coming with you. It’s not like I can leave you like this.” He spoke.

“Oh, really now? That would make you the first person to accompany me to my house after a date.” I chuckled as I said that.

“Well, that might make it sound like we were on a date or something, you know?” He chuckled back as he said that.

“Yea…” I continued chucking until it got really awkward. “Umm, I’m sorry. I really have this tendency to make things awkward as heck.” I replied.

“I’m aware of that, yes.” He nodded his head as he spoke.

“Haha… So, I’m Sam.” I extended my hand as I introduced myself.

“I know who you are, Mr. Sam.” He said as he walked ahead without noticing my extended arm.

“But the same can’t be said about you now, can I?” I said as I tugged the coat that he wore and basically made him notice my extended arm by force.

“Oh.” He stopped in his tracks when he saw that and shook my hands. “Hi, I’m Dean. And you can call me Dean.” He spoke.

“Hmm?”

“What?”

“Did you just tell me that your name is Dean and that I can call you Dean?” I asked.

“Yea, what about it?” He asked back.

“That’s just the same thing.” I replied.

“Yea.” He nodded his head. “I just gave you my permission to call me by my name.” He replied.

“Nah, usually isn’t it like—nothing… It doesn’t matter anymore.” I could do nothing but sigh at that remark of his.

“So, where is your house again?” He asked.

“I never said where my house was though.” I replied.

“What are you talking about?” He gave a confused look towards me.

“You said again. I never said where it was for you to use again.” I spoke.

“Ha, aren’t you annoying…” Dean sighed as he said that.

“I could literally say the same thing about you.” I replied.

“Well, can’t deny that.” He shrugged as he walked ahead. “Just tell me where your house is. Or not. Just lead the way for all that I care. I’m just here to check upon you if you fall that is. Other than that, whatever you do is fine with me.” He spoke.

“I don’t know why some of that didn’t make any sort of sense to me, but I get the gist of it and I’ll be leading the way to my house from now on.” I spoke as I briskly walked ahead and took the lead.

It was awkward. Like, really awkward walking with this guy. He didn’t talk. He didn’t talk for one bit. And this annoyed me to a really great extent. Like, an entire kilometer or so and yet he didn’t utter a single word. It pissed me to the levels that I didn’t expect to get pissed off.

Anyhow, since I realized that this guy wasn’t gonna initiate any kind of small talk, it was up to me to bring forth fresh or basically any kind of conversation at that point.

“So, Dean… Can I ask you something?” I asked.

“Shoot.” He spoke.

In reality, I hadn’t prepared any question in my mind, so this was just me pulling out a Hail Mary and hoping for the best. But it doesn’t seem like it went the way that I wanted it to. Well, I don’t even know what I wanted, so there’s that. Anyhow, this was where I hit the panic button and coughed out a random question that popped into my mind at that moment.

“Have you ever modeled for a fashion outline before?” I asked.

It wasn’t the question that I was hoping to ask, but for some reason that was the only thing that came to my mind when I gawked at him. Better than nothing, I guess.

“How did you know?” His eyes were gleaming as he asked me that question. It seemed as if I hit right at the bullseye with that question.

“Umm, I don’t remember actually. But your face seemed really familiar for some reason, so yea.” I shrugged.

That was a plain white lie. But seeing how excited he was when I asked that question, I really didn’t have the mind to tell him otherwise when he asked me that.

“Oh, really? So, I was really showcased on the TV, huh?” He mumbled with a massive smile on his face.

“Hmm?” I really had no idea what he was talking about, so I just used the age-old technique in my arsenal.

“Ah, well. It was a few months ago that I became an underwear model for a telemarketing show. I didn’t expect it to make any sort of impact on anyone’s mind. But seeing how you remembered me… That’s actually fucking awesome!” He was jumping around like a little kid as he said that and my conscience hurt as I saw him do all that.

However, at that point, I had already dug a pit for myself, so I couldn’t escape from it the way that I wanted to. Hence, I decided to go with the flow with just this one.

Anyhow, it seemed like this one little thing made a huge impact in his mind. I mean, unlike the first half of the journey where he talked little to none, this time around, he spoke his heart out and that’s when I realized that even though he looked like a prick, he actually wasn’t and that he was a really interesting human being. But as they say, all good things have to end at some point. And the quite pleasant conversation that we had was cut short since we reached my house.

“Sir!” I felt someone vigorously shaking me as they called me out. It seemed as if I had slept with my head on the table just like that. It wasn’t something that I planned on doing, but it was a good sleep nonetheless. And now that I’ve been woken up from my slumber, I’m feeling quite empty. “What is it?” I asked, even though I knew what was going on. Sometimes I like to do things like this just to make some sort of passing conversation. And at that point, I desperately needed one, but this guy surely didn’t seem like he would be interested in one by the looks of it. “Sir, it’s time to close. So, you have to leave now.” He spoke. “Ah, very well. First, my date ditches me and now you guys as well. It’s all fine though. It’s all perfectly fine.” I sighed. It’s not like I wanted to place the blame on a restaurant chain of all people, but the people that I could actually blame were thinning out and I couldn’t help it. “Sir, we are a restaurant.” The man s
