Patrick's P. O. V I stared at Sylvia as she continued crying. Shuddering, I began talking. " What are we going to do now?" I asked gently and Sylvia looked up at me, her eyes watering. " I don't know...." She forced out, her voice shaking. " I don't know anyone else. And even if I try to use an outside donor how am I so sure we'll find him on time? " She asked and broke down further, sobbing loudly. I glanced at Alex, swallowing. " What do we do now?" I asked quietly. " I don't know... " He whispered back.... Alex's P. O. V When I arrived home, I met my mom already waiting for me. I sighed and greeted her, hugging her tightly. " What happened? Why do you look so sullen?" She asked and I breathed out, running a hand through my hair. " It's Sylvia's mom..." I began. " What about her? " " Well... Sylvia submitted herself for a test and she wasn't a match. Now we don't know where we would find a match for her mom before time runs out. "
Sylvia's P. O. V " He is the match?" I asked the doctor and he nodded, still talking. " Now I suggest we get started with the preparations...." I cut him off, still staring at Alex. " Why?" I forced out, my voice breaking. " Why does it have to be you? " The doctor seemed confused." Is there a problem Miss Torres?" He asked and I glanced at him. " Of course! There is a problem!" " Come on Sylvia... I'm just donating. It's nothing serious." " Of course it is... " I cried out, tears slipping out my eyes." You're the one donating. It's you!" I breathed out, cleaning the tears off my face. " I'm sorry but... I can't let you do this. We have to find another donor." " What!?" Alex and the doctor gasped in unison. I wearily shook my head. " I can't let you, Alex... You've done so much for me." I muttered and he walked closer to me, holding me by the shoulders. " But Sylvia... It's your mom we're talking about!" He said and I glanced up at him
Sylvia's P. O. V I stared at Patrick, my mouth hanging open. " What?" I muttered. He sighed and continued, his gaze unflickered. " Yes... Let's break up." He repeated, his voice stronger. I stuttered, my heart racing. " Why?... Did I do something wrong?" " Nothing, it's just not the right time for this. " " What do you mean? " I asked and he held my hands, caressing it softly. " Listen to me carefully Sylvia. We're too young to be worrying ourselves about things like this. Your mom's sick and she needs all the help she can get. Alex is the one who can offer that help. You have to let him. " " But, Patrick... " I began but he cut me off. " It's okay, I know what you're thinking. But I can't watch you suffer. I hate seeing you this way... This miserable. " " Patrick, I doesn't have to be this way. " I said, my voice quivering. His grip on my hands tightened and I could see the tears in his eyes but he still smiled. " Yes it does. You won't l
Sylvia's P. O. V I woke up with a start cleaning the next day, checking my clock for the time, I sprang out of bed and rushed towards the bathroom, hurrying through my morning routine. Today I'll be getting update on my mom and I can't wait. Heading downstairs, I made myself a quick breakfast and walked out of the house, boarding a cab to the hospital. I arrived there soon after and walked straight to my mom's ward where I met a doctor checking on her. Staying outside, I watched them through the window. Eventually the doctor was through with her and he came out, spotting me. " Good morning doc..." I greeted, feeling nervous. " Good morning Miss Torres. I see you're here early. " He said and I nodded, still glancing at my mom. " How is she? " I asked quietly and watched as he took in a deep breath. " Well...." He began and I held my breath. One more bad news and I'll... " She's on the mend." He finished and I breathed out, feeling absolutely relieved. "
(One week later) Sylvia's P. O. V My mom kept getting better. The new bone marrow that was donated kept producing healthy cells that pushed the leukemic ones out and she kept getting stronger. I checked up on her occasionally while I continued school, trying to catch up with the things I lost while she was sick. Fortunately for me, the break up between me and Patrick smoothed out. Now we are more friends than strangers. Even though I'm sad we had to end things, I'm glad things didn't get so bad between us. It was lunch time so I was sitted at the school's cafeteria, quietly having mine when I heard footsteps approaching. I looked up and saw that it was Alex. I swallowed and managed a small smile " Hey..." He called out, " mind if I join you?" He asked and I shook my head. Nodding thanks, he sat in front of me and we ate in silence. Eventually he broke it. " So.... How's your mom?" He asked. I took a bottle of water and drank some of it's content. Closi
(A few days later: Saturday; evening) Tying up the balloons in the living room, I tried to finish the decorations as quickly as I could. My mom would be arriving home in a few moments and we were preparing a surprise party for her. Helping me out was Patrick, who was outside hanging a banner at the doorstep. I heard him descend from the stool he was using and soon enough, he was peeking through the door. " I'm through..." He announced and I smiled. Standing back, I stared at the decorations. " I think I'm done as well," I said and he grinned. Looking at the cookies on the center table, his eyes widened. " Hmm... This looks delicious. Mind if I try some?" " Only one cookie. " I warned and he laughed. " I'm sure I won't be stopping at one. " He muttered before gobbling up some. " Hey! Stop that! You'll finish the cookies before the rest of the guests arrive! " I yelled at him, pushing him away. He ran away, holding a few more and stuffing his mouth wit
Patrick's P. O. V " Skyler? Wha- what are you doing here?" I asked, surprised. She looked around a bit, grimacing. " Isn't it obvious? I came to see you." She answered and I took a deep breath, rubbing the back of my neck. " Wow..." I breathed out. " I didn't expect to see you." " I didn't expect to be here myself. I just sort of found myself here." " So... Why'd you come? " " I-i wanted to apologise. For what I did at the camp. I realized I didn't do that earlier before I left. I'm really sorry for what I did. " Stopping, she took a deep breath, shuddering. " For making things bad between you and Sylvia. It's haunted me ever since and I'm really sorry. I hope you can forgive me. " I stared at her, still confused of what to say. Skyler came all the way from New Jersey, to apologise? No, I don't want to believe it. " Why did you do it?" I found myself asking. She breathed out, brushing her hair off her face. " I... I don't know. I guess I was j
(A few days later: a school day) Sylvia's P. O. V It was a schools day and I was at the garden, sitted with Patrick while I peered into my books, in an attempt to study. I smiled as I remembered the past few days on our visit to the doctor. We were told our mom's cancer was already in remission and subsequently she'll be cured from it. Nothing could have made me more glad. Right now, all my focus is on me passing my final exams and prepare for college and so is everyone in my class. I glanced at Patrick and saw he was busy with his phone, oblivious to everything that was going on around him. Clearing my throat, I began talking. " So... After we graduate, what school will you be going to?" I asked he glanced at me, a side of his lip curling up. " New York University. Definitely." He replied without batting his eyelids. " New York? Why?" I asked, gasping. He grinned. " I've always wanted to go there. It's where me and my friends at my former school ha
Sylvia's P. O. V Three months later, Skyler gave birth to a baby girl who they named Piper. Since I was quite heavy at that time, I was unable to visit them but Patrick video called us to tell us about the experience. Even though he looked quite exhausted, his voice was rich in happiness. I chuckled remembering the things Skyler told us about Patrick while she was in labor. " He screamed more than me in the labor room. The doctor's started looking at us weird at one point!" I recalled, chuckling. " Well, what can I say? We're one weird couple." Patrick said in defense. Skyler chuckled, pulling his cheeks. " How many months left Sylvia?" Skyler asked after we were done laughing. " Three to four months? I'm not so sure. I'm ready whenever he's ready." " You nervous?" She asked and I breathed in, nodding slowly. " Don't worry, you'll be fine." She said and I smiled in gratitude. " Well... We have to go now. Skyler needs to rest, sh
Skyler's P. O. V. After the proposal, Patrick and I got married. Sylvia and Alex attended and I was surprised by it since we didn't as attend theirs. Due to my condition, it wasn't a large party but it still managed to be wild. We also didn't travel for our honeymoon, we did it right there at new Jersey. Sylvia used the opportunity to tour New Jersey one more time before heading back to Oklahoma. All in all, it was a lovely experience and I enjoyed every minute of it. ... (A few months later) Alex's P. O. V Skyler is seven months gone now and Patrick had suggested we meet up so we could spend some time together before the baby comes and he begins to take his role as a dad seriously. Tyler was there too and it was quite and experience. " First things first, before we go into any serious conversation. May I ask why we're ordering fruit wine?" I asked, glancing at the two of them. Tyler was the first to speak up." I'm not sur
(Three months later) Sylvia's P. O. V The past few months as a married couple have been amazing! Alex and I have established a routine that suits us. Him making breakfast in the morning while I make dinner and then, we do the dishes. It's been amazing so far and I've been really enjoying it. Laying in bed after some passionate moments together, My hands drawing invisible lines on his body while he pulls me closer to himself, I felt content. Feeling a bit bored, I stroke up a conversation. " Alex, How do you feel about having a baby?" I asked and I felt him stiffen. He cleared his throat, readjusting himself. " A child would be lovely but I don't think I want that now." He replied. I raised my face up, staring at him. " Why?" I asked softly. He heaved a sigh. " Well, I-i still have a ton of things I want to put in place before that comes up." " What if I pregnant?" " Are you pregnant?" He asked instead, his voice slightly alarmed.
Skyler's P. O. V I stirred in my sleep, my eyelids fluttering. Moments later, I opened my eyes, staring at the room. This is Patrick's room, my subconscious muttered. Speaking of Patrick, I looked up and saw he was still sleeping. A smile crept up to my cheeks as I stared at him. He looked completely brazen, his hair completely tousled as a result of last night action. Remembering last night, I blushed, chuckling. Who knew that would happen? Snuggling deeper into his arms, I willed myself that enjoy the moment before he woke up. Almost as instantly, his hands wrapped around my waist, drawing me closer to himself. I laughed when I saw the grin on his face. He was already awake! I raised myself up, kissing him lightly on the lips. " Good morning..." I whispered against them. One eyelid fluttered open as he stared at me. " Good morning...". He groaned before deepening it. We pulled apart a we could catch our breaths. " How was your night?" He asked, ca
Skyler's P. O. V " What?" I found myself saying. " Another baby. Let's make another one." He repeated. My eyes slowly widened, my cheeks heating up as I understood what he meant. But I was still confused. " Patrick, are you...?" " No I'm not. I'm perfectly sane, I just really wanted us to make another one." He repeated, his eyes boring into mine. I took a step backwards, slightly shocked. Is Patrick being serious right now? Does he really want to... Oh forget it! " If you want another baby, why are you still standing there?" I asked. It took only a second for him to process my words before his lips came crashing down on mine, his hands wrapped tightly around me. I almost fell due to the impact of the kiss but Patrick quickly steadied me. Hands wrapped around each other, body pressed tightly against each other, it was a frenzy. He lifted me up and I immediately wrapped my legs around his waist, all the whike not breaking the kiss. His hands pulled the ni
Patrick's P. O. V I hurried out of the bar the moment Sylvia finished talking. Getting into my car, I started it up and began driving to Skyler's place. Arriving there moments later, I skipped all the way to the door, desperate to see her. One push at the door knob and I froze. It's locked. Skyler wasn't in. She's gone. Again. Groaning out loud, I ran a hand through my hair. Come on... This can be happening! How long as she be gone for? Where did she even go? I brought out my phone to call her but of course, it didn't go through. " Think, think, think Patrick..." I muttered, pacing around at the hallway. Is there anyone she must've told. " Okay... Her job as my financial advisor was temporary and Darren told me she was introduced by his financial advisor... Evelyn!" I gasped out, snapping my fingers. Scrolling through my contacts, I looked for and found her contacts. Pacing around at the hallway, I impatiently waited for Evelyn to pick up. " Hello..
(Days later) Patrick's P. O. V These past few days have been hard. I sighed, thinking about the day Skyler and I argued. I tried talking to Skyler but she won't let me see her, won't answer my calls and also not reply my texts. It's confusing and frustrating. Eventually I just gave up on it. I honestly don't know what to do anymore. Picking up my phone, I got ready to go out. I need to get out of here. Sitting down and mopping around won't do any good.... Skyler's P. O. V Packing my things, I angrily dumped them in my boxes, muttering words to myself as I did it. " I can't keep a friendship, I can't keep a relationship... I can't even keep a baby! " I yelled the last bit out, slamming the box shut. Falling to the bed, I groaned out, trying to stop the tears from falling. These past few days have been freaking hard. Patrick called thousands of times, left texts but I was too scared to answer. I didn't know what to say to him. Eventually he just
Patrick's P. O. V. We stayed a few more days at the hospital due to the doctor's suggestions. They needed to watch Skyler's health to see if it's recovering from the miscarriage and remove any left over blood tissue that didn't bleed out. Hours before Skyler was discharged, Sylvia called. " Hey...." She called out, her voice light and happy. I sucked in air. " Hi..." I muttered, breathing out. " How are you? How's Skyler?" " I'm fine, she's fine. We're both fine. " I said, a bit wary. " What about the baby?" She asked and I stiffened, my grip on the phone tightening. I wanted to lie but decided not to, it wouldn't make any sense. " You didn't answer that question." Sylvia said, her voice low and edged with concern. " Is everything okay?" " No. Something happened." I finally muttered, glancing at Skyler's ward. " What happened?" " Skyler had a miscarriage. She lost the baby. " " What!? " " Yeah. Two d
(Three weeks later) Sylvia's P. O. V The wedding was a success. Just like Patrick had said, they didn't come to the wedding but Tyler and Olivia did. They even brought little Jeremy with them! For a young couple, they looked really happy. I was happy and also jealous of them. We said our vows in front of the church and exchanged rings. We even had a little party. It was fun but Alex kept it short. Then announced that we'll be going to Manchester for our honeymoon. " But... That's where you studied!?" I asked the moment he told me. " Yes. And it's why I want to take you there. It's really lovely there." " Okay... Can't wait. " I muttered, grinning. He smiled and kissed me on the cheeks. I blushed slightly. The very next day, we flew out of Oklahoma to Manchester. Settling in, he became my tour guide, showing me places he had visited while studying there. There were so many places to see! And had our first night as a married couple in a reso
