Escaping the Triplets

Bella:

When classes were over, Hazel walked over to me with her ever-smiley face.

“So, are you ready for your outing?” she asked, and I rolled my eyes, grabbing my tote bag.

She just had to remind me of the meeting I couldn’t escape. I ignored her as we made our way down the hallway, but she wouldn’t stop grinning from ear to ear in my face.

“Stop, please!” I said in a raised tone, and she came to a halt.

“I do not want to talk about it, and I’ll decide whether I’ll go or—”

“Bella,” someone called out, and I looked up to see Kai standing in front of us in the hallway.

“Hey, I’m sorry, I can’t talk now. I need to go to a meeting,” I said, taking out the envelope from my bag and quickening my pace.

I checked the venue on the invite, then rushed out of the school building.

“I would accompany you, but I have an emergency meeting with my club about the upcoming carnival,” Hazel said to me.

There was a carnival?

“Thanks for the help,” I said in a sarcastic tone as I headed to the school gat
