Carnival

Bella:

Shock was an understatement for the situation I found myself in. I tried to jog my memory, only to recall saying yes to everything on the first day of being in heat.

“I... I cannot remember saying that,” I replied, grabbing Hazel’s hand. “We already have a lot of activities planned out for the night, so I cannot go anywhere,” I said, and Hazel nodded in agreement.

The look on their faces screamed disappointment, but I didn’t care. I wasn’t going to give in easily.

“Well, I guess we’ll just hang out alone then. Have fun on your night,” Finn said. They turned to leave, causing me to breathe a sigh of relief.

Hazel and I walked around the carnival grounds, discussing random stuff as we watched strings of colorful bulbs crisscross overhead, casting a warm, inviting glow on the bustling scene.

The air was filled with the sweet aroma of cotton candy and popcorn,mingling with the smoky scent of grilled foods from the food stalls, making my stomach rumble.
