Serena had ridden in many fancy cars before but none came close to the happiness she felt riding this outdated car with uncomfortable seats and an unattractive interior. For her, it was the most beautiful car in the world because it belonged to Asher. He stopped the car outside a diner. They climbed down and walked inside. The diner was almost full except for a couple of vacant spots. Asher led her towards the table in the furthest corner and pulled a chair for her. There was a crazed glint in his eyes making him look deranged. She couldn't help her eyes welling up as she matched his glare with hers. Asher's features softened when he noticed tears in her eyes. He loosened his fists and reached up to wipe her unshed tears but before he could even touch her, Serena stopped him by grabbing his hand in mid-air. Her gaze was hard and angry as it bored into his eyes. "Why?" she demanded. Asher's features turned stone cold again in response. "He deserved it," he answered unapologetically. Serena eyed him with disbelief. She was speechless. "He deserved to be beaten like this? Can you hear yourself?" she questioned incredulously and tossed his hand away.
