Serena had ridden in many fancy cars before but none came close to the happiness she felt riding this outdated car with uncomfortable seats and an unattractive interior. For her, it was the most beautiful car in the world because it belonged to Asher. He stopped the car outside a diner. They climbed down and walked inside. The diner was almost full except for a couple of vacant spots. Asher led her towards the table in the furthest corner and pulled a chair for her. Even small gestures like these from him were enough to make her heart flutter like crazy. He had her completely down for him. He beckoned a waiter and Serena gave their order. While eating, Serena felt the heat of his gaze on her several times but felt too shy to look up and catch him red-handed. After dinner, he drove for about forty-five minutes an hour and eventually pulled over in the middle of a vast open space. She got down after Asher and looked around. The desolate place- flanked by treelines from three sides-
They have been ignoring each other since then. She was all calm and composed but the same couldn't be said about Asher. The boy was spiraling out of control. Her silent treatment had started to bother him to no end and what bothered him even more was that she appeared unaffected by his silent treatment. Like it doesn't matter if he talked to her or not. He started dropping his wet towel on the floor, leaving his clothes around, and doing everything that Serena disliked to get his attention but the girl refused to bat even an eye in his direction, much to his vexation. "I can't find my black T-shirt," he barged into the room and announced. Four days had passed since they talked last. It was already Saturday. Serena didn't respond and continued watering her plants. "I said something," he repeated, frowning. Her ignoring skills were top-notch. When she didn't respond, he stalked over and caught her arm."Are you even listening?" he swiveled her towards him and demanded. She met his
The world stilled around them as she crossed over to him and slapped him hard across his face. Her palm stung but his face didn't move a bit. The sharp sound resonated through the room, causing everyone to hold their breath in dreadful anticipation. Asher clenched his fists while glaring down at her. There was a crazed glint in his eyes making him look deranged. She couldn't help her eyes welling up as she matched his glare with hers. Asher's features softened when he noticed tears in her eyes. He loosened his fists and reached up to wipe her unshed tears but before he could even touch her, Serena stopped him by grabbing his hand in mid-air. Her gaze was hard and angry as it bored into his eyes. "Why?" she demanded. Asher's features turned stone cold again in response. "He deserved it," he answered unapologetically. Serena eyed him with disbelief. She was speechless. "He deserved to be beaten like this? Can you hear yourself?" she questioned incredulously and tossed his hand away.
"I hope you don't mind me imposing on you," Serena asked Luna with a nervous laugh. "Ohh, It's okay. I and Atlas both are thrilled to share our space with you," Luna assured her. Serena smiled and enquired after Atlas. She hadn't seen him since her arrival. Luna whistled and just then a cute little pug came running out of one of the rooms. The pooch snuggled up against Luna's legs. Serena reached out and scratched the back of his ear, earning a purr from him. "He remembers you," Luna told her, grinning. She had brought Atlas to the clinic a few times where he had met Serena. Serena smiled. Luna's place was larger and better than hers. Her apartment had two rooms, a spacious kitchen, and a balcony with a beautiful view of the garden. She could only dream of buying herself a place like this. After staying on the balcony for some time, she returned to her room. They already had their dinner and Luna had long retired to her room. She decided to sleep as tomorrow she had a morning shift
Asher opened the door to find her standing in front of him. The girl with the tiniest frame in the world was frowning down at the floor. Without so much looking at him, she walked past him inside the apartment. Asher smirked and closed the door. Serena headed straight into her room. After closing the door in his face, she dragged her feet towards her bed and dropped her bag at the foot of her bed before collapsing down on the mattress. She sighed loudly, so much for ignoring him. She was planning on coming back after he realized his mistake. But it seemed fate didn't agree with her intention. That's okay. Even though she was here, she wouldn't talk to him. Asher was feeling this strange giddy sensation after finally having her here. He was happy and content. Now the house didn't feel lifeless any longer. Even though she was cold with him, her aura was still so warm and bright, suffusing the air with a warm golden color. After making some coffee for both of them, he headed towards th
"You fought?" it was more like a statement than a question. Asher's eyes widened a fraction before he broke their eye contact and returned his focus to the laptop's screen. "Why do you care?" he asked in a dismissive tone and leaned over the desk by putting his hands on either side of it. Eyes on the screen. Serena was distracted by the cord of veins trailing down his strong muscular arms. He didn't know she was weak for his veiny arms. They indescribably hot for her. "You had promised that you would not fight again," there was a hint of annoyance in her voice as she reminded him. She didn't want him to fight no matter what the circumstances were. She didn't want him to lose his focus and slip back into the vicious trap. She was here for this. She was here to make sure they had a roof over their head and food on their plate while he was supposed to concentrate only on his aim. "I did. But I needed money," he shrugged as though it wasn't a big deal. But for Serena, it was a big
His deep, magnetic voice sounded even deeper in this quiet, dark hall- heavy with authority but at the same carried a softness as he called her. Serena ignored him no matter how attractive his voice was. No matter how attractive he was to her. She kept her head down, allowing her hair to veil her face from him. He walked around the bench to where she was sitting. Her breath began to lose its steadiness as he sat down beside her. In a petty act of defiance, she scooted further away from him not even wanting to inhale his intoxicating scent. But Asher was undeterred. He scooted closer- even closer than before. Irritation flared within her. She shifted further only to have him shift closer until he was almost touching her now. His stubbornness was frustrating her. Why he was even here? He wanted to go, she told him he could go then why was he still bothering her? She was now sitting on the edge of the bench and he was right beside her. She was contemplating standing up when suddenly
His heart was flapping wildly like a bird taking its first flight into the sky. The thrill was the same, the longing just as intense. The desire to feel her mouth against his own had intoxicated his brain and he couldn't resist pressing his lips onto hers. Her soft, warm lips were just beckoning him to claim them. Their mouth met for the first time and for the first time, he felt fireworks exploding within him. It was just a small peck and he already felt it warming him to his soul. Serena froze in shock as he took his liberty with her. She had not expected this.He pecked her lips before slowly inching away and gauging her reaction. Her eyes were wide in surprise as they gaped at him unblinkingly. She resembled a cute doe caught in headlights- correction- caught between his lips. Innocent. She was so innocent that his demons yearned to play with her- to corrupt her, to possess her. As if she had read his mind, her cheeks tinted pink in shyness before she lowered her gaze to his lip
