"More than the fact that he used you, I think you are hurting more because of the fact that he didn't choose you first," Ayleen concluded. She turned away from the window and towards her. The mist had begun to dissipate after sunrise.

Serena's mouth tightened in a thin line. She didn't respond, further affirming her assumption.

"It's true, isn't it?" Ayleen asked, already knowing the answer. She made her way towards Serena and stood behind her. Ayleen lived two hours away from their home but when tonight Serena had called her and she heard her distressed voice, she drove all the way to here. The woman in front of her was nothing like her friend. This woman looked hopeless, depressed, and tormented.

"I ever wanted only one thing from my life. To be my man's first and only choice. So yes, it did hurt me when I learned I am not his first choice" Serena replied, for the first time admitting that she was indeed hurt because he didn't choose her first. Does she not deserve to be a first
