XERXES

The night was still and peaceful, the soft babble of the creek the only sound as I watched Trinity sleep. The moonlight filtered through the canopy above, casting a silvery glow over her face. Her features were delicate, relaxed in sleep, a stark contrast to the guarded expression she wore during the day. She looked... serene, almost otherworldly, as though the chaos of her world couldn’t touch her in this moment.

So this is what she looked like when she wasn't looking over her shoulder. I felt this strange sensation at the thought.

Could it be guilt? I don't know.

What I do know is that I should be able to protect her. She should feel safe here with me, not constantly threatened.

I leaned back on my elbows, studying her. There was something about her that was quietly captivating—like a puzzle I didn’t quite know how to solve. She wasn’t what I had expected from the woman I thought would be my mate, and certainly not what I had wanted at first. But now... now I wasn’t so sure

TRINITYThe sunlight filtering through the curtains woke me gently, but as my eyes fluttered open, a wave of confusion rolled over me. I was back in my room, tucked into my bed. The last thing I remembered was falling asleep by the creek, Xerxes by my side. Had he carried me back?I sat up slowly, my mind clouded with questions. The quiet of the palace felt heavy, almost foreboding. Pushing the thoughts aside, I got out of bed, dressed, and wandered into the halls. The corridors stretched before me, silent and empty, until I heard voices coming from the throne room. Curious, I followed the sound. The door was slightly ajar, and when I peeked in, I saw Xerxes, Nasir, and Liam standing in a tight circle, deep in conversation.I hesitated. Their conversation came to a halt and their eyes fell on me. It felt like I was intruding on something important. “Pardon me, I didn't mean to intrude,” I murmured, turning to leave.“Wait. Actually, we’ve been waiting for you,” Nasir called out, stop

TRINITYThe training room stretched wide before me, its walls lined with racks of weapons ranging from gleaming swords to well-worn staves. The faint scent of sweat and steel lingered in the air, and the floor bore the scuffs and marks of countless sparring sessions. Standing at the center with a staff clutched tightly in my hands, I felt a bead of sweat roll down my back as the triplets circled me like predators sizing up their prey.“Loosen your grip,” Liam instructed, stepping forward. His voice was calm and encouraging, but his stance was firm. “If you hold it too tight, your movements will be stiff, and you’ll tire out quickly.”I glanced down at my hands, my fingers wrapped tightly around the smooth wood. Slowly, I adjusted my grip, loosening it as he’d said. When I looked back up, he nodded, a small smile tugging at his lips.“Better. Now, let’s see if you can block.”Before I could prepare, Liam lunged forward, his movements fluid and precise. My heart raced as I instinctively

TRINITYThe weight of a single message settled on my mind like a stone, unyielding and heavy. I sat on the edge of my bed, phone clenched in my hand, the screen’s blue glow illuminating my face in the dim room. 1:00 AM. The text stared back at me, stark against the darkness. “You have to return home, it’s the Accession Ceremony tomorrow. This is your duty, Trinity, to attend the Ceremony. And I miss you.”I read it over again, every word pressing harder on the barrier I had built between myself and the life I’d left behind. My aunt had sent it an hour ago, but I hadn’t dared to respond. To answer would mean to acknowledge it—acknowledge the call to return, the call to a place I had promised myself I’d never go back to. I set the phone down, its glow fading as I sat in the pitch-black room, trying to steady my breath. ‘Why should I go back?’ The question echoed inside me, clawing through memories I’d tried to forget. Returning would mean facing them all—the pack, my family, th

TRINITYI folded the last of my clothes into the suitcase, zipping it shut with a sigh. My fingers traced the faded fabric of my old pack hoodie, a strange mix of dread and nostalgia stirring within me. You’re just going for a few days, I reminded myself, rolling my shoulders back as if I could physically shake off the nerves. In, out, and back to your life.I dragged the suitcase to the door, taking one last look around my small apartment. It wasn’t much—just four plain walls, minimal furniture, a little balcony overlooking a busy street—but it was mine. Here, I didn’t have to constantly look over my shoulder or hear the whispers of people who saw me as “Trinity the Wolf-less.”Grabbing my keys, I slipped out, tossed my luggage into the trunk, and slid behind the wheel. The streets were quiet, my headlights casting long beams across the darkened road as I set out toward home. A low, creeping sense of unease wound its way through me as I drove, the weight of the past creeping in with

XERXESI shifted in my seat, suppressing a groan as my fingers drummed against the polished arm of the chair. Gold embroidery gleamed on the sleeves of my ceremonial jacket, catching the dim candlelight, while the heavy, royal-blue fabric weighed on my shoulders like a boulder. This suit was made to command attention, crafted from the finest velvet and adorned with intricate golden designs that reflected my family’s standing. But right now, it felt like a straitjacket. This entire night, I thought, a straitjacket of tradition, pointless rituals, and pompous speeches. I glanced to either side, where my brothers—Nasir and Liam—sat as rigid as I did, dressed in similar finery. We looked like gods, just as our parents insisted. As the eldest of the triplets, I, Xerxes, had been groomed my entire life to lead, to stand tall, and rule. Yet the prospect was hollow, unappealing, like eating dust. It wasn’t just the suffocating expectations. The real irritant, the one that had my wolf. Daemo

TRINITY My legs burned as I sprinted out of the grand hall, my heartbeat pounding louder than the drums that had echoed through the ceremony moments before. My breaths came in sharp, panicked gasps, and I dared not look back. I hadn’t seen anyone else run; it felt like the entire hall had been watching me bolt as though I were on fire. But I couldn’t stay—not with the glaring eyes of the Alphas and the strange pull that had flooded the air, that haunting scent of something I couldn’t place and didn’t want to understand. My very first day home, and here I was, tangled in something I knew would bring trouble. Always trouble. A branch whipped against my arm, scratching the skin as I pushed through the dense forest surrounding the territory. I barely felt it, the sting dwarfed by the terror snaking its way through my body. I didn’t know where I was running, only that I had to get as far away as possible. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was being hunted, and in the eerie silence of t

TRINITYThe great Alpha Nader and Luna Mira sat before me on their golden thrones. They stared down at me with two different emotions. Alpha Nader has always been a leader with great wisdom and charisma. He stroked his chin while staring down at me with intrigue and wonder. Luna Mira on the other hand stared down at me with disdain and disgust. It was obvious that they both took the news of their children's newfound mate in different ways. Their sons stood behind me, their aura radiating from their skin and seeping into my pores. A shiver crawled up my spine, I could feel their gaze all on me, sizing me up with silent judgement in their eyes. And it wasn’t just the triplets, but their parents as well.I felt inferior in their presence. Each of them radiated power, pride and strength. And they did so in their own way. I, on the other hand, felt like a nobody in their midst. Actually, I was a nobody. I shouldn’t be here, I did not belong here.I am sure there has to be some sort of

TRINITYThe night stretched on endlessly, its silence oppressive. I lay in bed, staring at the ceiling as the shadows of the room twisted and shifted with the faint flicker of moonlight filtering through the curtains. My hand gripped the hilt of the dagger tucked beneath my pillow, the cool metal a small comfort against the tension in my chest.I tried to convince myself that the palace was secure, that my cousins wouldn’t dare to approach me now with the Alpha triplet’s wrath hanging over their heads. But the lingering fear refused to be silenced. My mind conjured up the worst possibilities, each one more vivid and terrifying than the last. The Silvershade sisters were never ones to accept defeat. They would go to any length to get what they want. But would it mean murdering their own blood? They never really did like me anyway. And now that they have the Luna on their side, I just know how I would have to be sleeping with both of my eyes open from now on.To think that I felt so hap

TRINITYThe next morning, I woke with a strange lightness in my chest. For the first time in weeks, I didn’t feel the weight of constant scrutiny or hostility pressing down on me. As I got dressed and stepped out of my room, I realized I was smiling—a real, genuine smile.Maybe it was the absence of my cousins, whose malicious presence had tainted every corner of the palace. Or maybe it was the shift in Nasir’s demeanor. He was still sharp and guarded, but there was a softness now, a crack in the armor he wore so tightly. Whatever the reason, I felt free in a way I hadn’t for a long time.Humming softly, I made my way down the grand staircase, the sound of my steps echoing faintly in the spacious hall. My fingers trailed along the ornate banister as I descended, and a spring had somehow found its way into my step.As I reached the main floor, the smell of freshly baked bread and sizzling bacon wafted toward me, making my stomach rumble in anticipation. I followed the scent, drawn to t

TRINITY The sunlight spilling through the tall windows painted the walls of the art room in golden hues. I stood in the middle of the space, utterly captivated by the paintings that surrounded me. Nasir lingered by the door, his arms crossed and his expression carefully neutral, but I could feel the tension in him as he waited for me to react.I didn’t know what to say.The sheer scale of the collection was overwhelming. Landscapes so vivid I could almost feel the breeze rustling through painted fields. Portraits with eyes so alive, they seemed to follow me as I moved. Abstract swirls of color and light that tugged at emotions I couldn’t quite name.“This is incredible,” I finally breathed, turning to face him.Nasir’s brow furrowed slightly. “It’s just something I do,” he said gruffly, his gaze flickering to the floor as though he was embarrassed.“Just something you do?” I repeated, incredulous. “Nasir, this is... this is extraordinary. Why would you hide this?”His jaw tightened,

TRINITYWhen I opened my eyes, it was to the soft light filtering through the curtains and the sharp but dull ache pounding at my temple. Everything felt hazy, my surroundings spinning for a moment before settling into clarity. My head felt heavy, like someone had stuffed it with cotton. As I tried to push myself upright, a shadow loomed above me, startling me into stillness.Nasir.He stood there, his tall frame partially blocking the light, his expression unreadable. In his hand was a small wad of cotton wool, damp and speckled with something red. My blood.“Stay still,” he murmured, his voice softer than I had ever heard it. There was no edge, no sharp command—just quiet insistence.I flinched slightly as he crouched beside me, his face now level with mine. He reached out with careful hands and gently dabbed at the tender spot on my forehead. I hissed at the sting, but to my surprise, he didn’t react with impatience. Instead, his movements grew even more delicate, as if he feared c

  • HIDDEN HOWL   Chapter Fifty Two: Three Against One

TRINITYThe books Alpha Nader had given me were thicker than I expected, their cracked spines and yellowed pages holding the weight of centuries-old knowledge. Sitting cross-legged on my bed, I carefully turned the pages of the first book, The Myths of the Lunar Wolves, my fingers brushing over the faded ink. The white wolf. Its image was sketched across one of the pages—a regal creature with fur like snow and eyes that burned like molten amber. The description beneath it told of its rarity, its power, and its connection to the moon goddess herself.“The white wolf represents purity, strength, and balance. It is said to be the protector of the weak, born during times of great upheaval to restore harmony,” I read aloud to myself, my voice barely a whisper. The words sent a shiver down my spine. Could this have anything to do with me? The dreams? The wolf that had appeared so vividly in my mind?I was so engrossed in the book that I didn’t even hear the knock at my door. It wasn’t until
