TRINITY

The great Alpha Nader and Luna Mira sat before me on their golden thrones. They stared down at me with two different emotions.

Alpha Nader has always been a leader with great wisdom and charisma. He stroked his chin while staring down at me with intrigue and wonder.

Luna Mira on the other hand stared down at me with disdain and disgust. It was obvious that they both took the news of their children's newfound mate in different ways.

Their sons stood behind me, their aura radiating from their skin and seeping into my pores. A shiver crawled up my spine, I could feel their gaze all on me, sizing me up with silent judgement in their eyes.

And it wasn’t just the triplets, but their parents as well.

I felt inferior in their presence. Each of them radiated power, pride and strength. And they did so in their own way.

I, on the other hand, felt like a nobody in their midst. Actually, I was a nobody. I shouldn’t be here, I did not belong here.

I am sure there has to be some sort of mistake. Could it be the work of some witch? Or maybe this was some kind of set up. There was absolutely no way that I was the mate of the alpha triplets. Who was I? A nobody, shunned by her own pack and treated as a misfit.

And I was.

I didn't even have a wolf, so how could it be possible that I was their mate?

I am sure this is all some misunderstanding. It just has to be.

Suddenly, Luna Mira covered her face and broke out in a light chuckle. “Oh, my goodness, boys, certainly this is one of your pranks. Enough of your antics. Honestly, I expected you all to know better than to pull such a move during the ceremony. You caused quite the mess and had the pack talking. Now I expect you three to go out there and clear the air.”

Xerxes stepped forward, his features stoic and unchanged. “Mother, you should know that I am not one to play games, especially during an event as important as this one. Believe me, neither of us are happy about this. But we just could not help it... it felt like our wolves had gotten minds of their own. All Daemon wanted was her.”

Liam stepped forward, his head bowed as he said, “I am afraid Eryx felt the same way. It was almost as though nothing else in the world mattered to him except her. I had lost complete control of myself when I saw her.”

All eyes turned to Nasir. He had his jaw clenched and eyes brimming with anger, but he knew better than to lie to the alpha and luna.

He sighed, “All Ren kept chanting was mate. Mate. Mate. He was overjoyed, I have never seen him that way before.” Nasir’s amber gold eyes turned to me, and I flinched at the intensity behind them. “And all for a useless creature such as this.”

Ouch.

“Watch your tongue! Even though she may be wolfless it does not change the fact that she is our mate, and you will accord her with respect,” Liam said curtly and Nasir let out a humourless chuckle.

He looked at his brother with disbelief. “Respect? For that thing?”

“Enough!” Xerxes growled, his icy blue eyes darkening as he snapped at his brothers.

Luna Mira shook her head with a roll of her eyes. “Just barely an hour after her return and she is already causing much ruckus. I believe what needs to be done is quite clear.”

The words that left her lips next had my heart freezing in my chest.

“Reject her.”

No.

That was the first word that came to my mind. Why was that my first thought? I mean that should be a good thing. If they reject me then I can go home and carry on with my life. So then... what was this feeling I had bubbling within my chest.

It felt like fear.

But that can't be right. I have been shunned and rejected by my own people. Surely, I can handle getting rejected by my mates. It was no big deal...

Right?

It did not matter what I wanted. They were going to do it. They would do so in a heartbeat.

But to my greatest surprise, they all stayed silent. Neither of them uttered a word, not even Nasir.

He was so vocal about his dislike towards me being his mate. So here it was, the opportunity to finally be free of me and he was hesitant.

Luna Mira’s lips curled downwards, and her grip on the armchair tightened. “Did you all hear me? I said reject her. You all have beautiful fiancés already, all of which are women of prestige and grace. You do not need this one. So reject her now so we all can carry on with our lives.”

Silence.

Alpha Nader was the one to break the silence. This was his first time speaking since we were all brought into the throne room.

Just as an alpha should, his words carried authority and intimidation. “You boys heard your mother. Reject Trinity as your mate. Now.”

To my surprise, Xerxes' words had my eyebrows shooting to the top of my head.

“I can’t do that, father.”

Alpha Nader’s eyes darkened, and Xerxes quickly added, “I just need some time to think about it. I mean, we have all waited for our mate for so long, and now that she is finally here, we are expected to reject her. It requires some time to think about. Don’t you agree, brothers?”

Liam nodded almost immediately. “Yes, I do. We should not make haste when it comes to making a decision such as this.”

Nasir’s eyes fell on me. I could not tell what he was thinking, but his words brought me so much relief. “Whatever.”

Alpha Nader rose to his feet, giving his final statement.

“Very well then, you all have one month to come to a decision. You either accept Trinity Ender as your mate or reject her and have her banished from the Crimson Moon Pack. Forever.”

TRINITYThe weight of a single message settled on my mind like a stone, unyielding and heavy. I sat on the edge of my bed, phone clenched in my hand, the screen’s blue glow illuminating my face in the dim room. 1:00 AM. The text stared back at me, stark against the darkness. “You have to return home, it’s the Accession Ceremony tomorrow. This is your duty, Trinity, to attend the Ceremony. And I miss you.”I read it over again, every word pressing harder on the barrier I had built between myself and the life I’d left behind. My aunt had sent it an hour ago, but I hadn’t dared to respond. To answer would mean to acknowledge it—acknowledge the call to return, the call to a place I had promised myself I’d never go back to. I set the phone down, its glow fading as I sat in the pitch-black room, trying to steady my breath. ‘Why should I go back?’ The question echoed inside me, clawing through memories I’d tried to forget. Returning would mean facing them all—the pack, my family, th
