David pov

I slowly lift my gaze to the closed door, which has been shut for two minutes. The silence in the room feels heavy, almost suffocating. I let out a sigh, tossing my phone aside with a little more force than necessary, and get up from the bed.

Why isn’t she coming in? Is she busy with my mom? The thought gnaws at me, and I plop back down on the bed, my curiosity getting the better of me. Is she getting too cosy with my family, especially my dad? Olivia seemed pretty chill, so maybe my dad is too.

I’ve never seen him like this before, laughing and joking in a way that felt foreign to me. Ugh! I get up again, pacing the small space of my room, heading toward the door. Come on, I’m waiting! Why is she taking so long?

Suddenly, I hear footsteps approaching, and I dash back to the bed, grabbing my phone in a desperate attempt to appear nonchalant—pretending I’m not bothered at all. Of course, I’m not! Right? The door swings open, and I clear my throat, trying to mask the flutt
